I like the segment focusing on IRA mindset and how it will differ from margin.

I’m a little confused about buying bonds ands selling puts against them as collateral in an IRA account. One guy told me on the phone that could be done, to still make interest on a cash secured put. I read on one of Tasty’s web pages that you cannot do that in an IRA account.
    Help…

I'm not sure how to do what you're looking for exactly. A covered call on TLT would give you a similar benefit though. You would get the interest and an opportunity to collect some premium, which seems to be what you're looking for primarily.

@@luckylanno Fidelity pays 5% interest on $ in their cash account, so even cash secured puts collect that interest
The Tasy rep I spoke said you could do something similar by buying a Bond, & using it as collateral for the cash secured put. But, as I said, there seems to be conflicting info on their web page. at least in an IRA account, the limitations are not clear.
      Thanks for the suggestion.

@@luckylanno I think they mean to use treasury bills as the margin requirement instead of cash for short puts on other products. which is definitely possible in at least some circumstances
