Thanks Bao. I just made the sled set up on the left like most out there. Going to try and calibrate it now. Your video and setting up was excellent presentation.

I have the same miter gauge. The fence has been hell to square. I can't get it to 90 to the blade and from the factory it was leaning too far back.
On paper, this miter gauge is sweet, but I feel like I could have spent less money on something else that's just as good, or better. Sort of kicking myself in the rear for this purchase.

How do you zero out the top scale?

    • @DesignCraftWorkshop
      @DesignCraftWorkshop  3 роки тому

You micro adjust the removable block to get the reading accurate.

Thanks for the video. I just set mine up. Did you find that when making, say, 30 degree cuts that your fence now extends off the board. I set it at that angle and moved the fence back so that wouldn't happen making me move the flip stop about an inch past the right end of the fence so it could touch the blade during calibration. Also, while I believe I adjusted the fence to be 90 degrees to the edge of the board, it still isn't super accurate when using the 5 cut method. Diagonal measurements look good on a tape measure but still a few thousands off using the 5 cut. Are very fine adjustments possible?

I believe the fine adjustments see covered in the manual. There are a few screws you can use to get things perfectly set up. As for the angle, yes I did find it annoying because it stick off the fence however I did calibrate for that using the flip stop adjustment as you mentioned.

I like your storage solution. I'm going to use that!

Mine was a big disappointment. Finally replaced the incra extrusions with a kreg extrusion and it's much easier and quicker to set up. Way overpriced.

Sorry to hear that! Kreg does make really nice jigs. I love their cabinet jigs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Thanks, very nice video. When doing your test cut I notice that your waste board side was moving, based on INCRA when operating the saw that board must not move and should be secured by tightening the adjustment screws on its miter bar.

Thanks for the video. I have the miter 5000 ordered. I noticed your Grizzly jointer in the video. I invite you to join our Facebook group Grizzly Woodworking Tool Enthusiasts.

Thanks for sharing this. May I ask how wide can your board be while crosscutting without losing control? Incra says 25'' but that seems a lot to be true.

Once the sled is off the table saw, I start to not get enough control at the beginning of the cut.

This is the BEST assembly video video! Great work explaining how everything works. As far as the DawStop problem, you can add a sacrificial front piece and adjust the stop arm rod to another position. I did that on my 1000 and it helped with tear out.

I have same one as well and @2:20 you say its easier to adjust the miter slot bar and its true, for those who might not know the red top has holes so that you can access the adjustment screws for the fit (just FYI).

It looks like you are setting it up on the left side of a left tilting blade. Incra recommends the right side for left tilting blades. I’ll be assembling mine this weekend and not sure if I want to use the left. Any specific reason for your choice?

    • @DesignCraftWorkshop

When I first got my sled, I had a miter saw to cut all my bevel angles. But now I sold my miter saw and will set the sled up on the right side. I never really made mitered cuts on the table saw.

I was in the same situation and ended up installing on the right. Pushing the sled with my left hand feels unnatural to me and if I can't shake that feeling, I'll probably get the replacement panel so I have the option of having the sled on either side of the blade depending on the cut I need to make.

i'm setting mine up now, your vid helped a lot, my tape measures are all screwed up though i guess because i set it up for left blade, have to figure that out.

Awesome!! Maybe the tape you have installed is the wrong one. They should have given you an extra set of tape
