Ahhhh, the Beeswax covers….a REAL SORE SPOT in this house. My loving and wonderful husband decided he would “help” me and do some laundry and clean out the fridge and mop floors and change the sheets on the bed. What an angel. Well, when he cleaned out the fridge he decided the “cover things” needed to be washed too since they touch food and who knows, it could be furry food? (MALE THINKING, sorry guys but for most of you it is true.) So as he did the laundry and washed the beeswax covers along with a few of my cashmere sweaters and pants with the BED SHEETS, my Cashmere is ruined (I have his credit card) and I’ll be trying that little trick to restore the beeswax covers I have/had. Bless his heart for trying. I am very very lucky and blessed to have him in my life even if he ruins a few hundred dollars of clothes and ruins some very hard working bees WORK. Ahhhhh, gotta love him. 💖

6:29 If you paint that fabric with Paverpol (type of product for outside use) that box will last forever. Fabric will be just wipe clean, like any statue.

I added grommets and sprayed a large one with waterseal to use as a shade above our patio. It looks awesome.
Drop cloths are fun and cheap! Whether you have a tight budget, like to change it up frequently, or have dogs with muddy feet and cats with sharp claws! As a sofa cover, it's great!
I've been using dropcloths for years as outdoor curtains on my balcony. Far cheaper than outdoor curtains and when they get nasty, toss them in the washer and they're as good as new.
I Love Drop Cloths. They are woven so tight. I use them as an extra drape for weather profing. It really makes a difference, It keeps the cold out and the warmth in. Ive used them for drapes & Clothes, They look great. Im going to use your stencil idea for a rug. It holds the paint nicely.
Could use it as a backing layer on something that would actually look pretty hanging over a window, but isn't thick enough.
I ve used these paint drop cloths for yrs in my old drafty farmhouse. . For curtains. I do sew brown/ tan 3 " fringe on top. & tiebacks.
How are you using it as a rug? Are you going to use a backing so they don’t crumple up when you walk on them. I’d love to know because I want that colour in a rug but can’t afford runners for my hallway it’s at least 13 Mtrs long

@@bari2883 There are a variety of mats that go under rugs to prevent slipping. You could even sew a couple of stitches in each corner to hold the fabric in place.

For the footstool at the beginning a suggestion. I do not know about anyone else but I've cracked my shins on footstools and other furniture many times. If the foam was a bit larger, then an indent was made in the bottom of it, the wood piece would sit inside of it and you'd have padding surrounding it so that your shins had a bit of protection. Would also be great if you had a toddler in the house prone to falling

How do you clean the beeswax wraps?
We were thinking about doing something like this first idea for shading our front porch.
We had bamboo roll up shades out there but after one year of our severe humidity and southern heat they're toast lol.
Harbor Freight has dropcloths like these and we've used them for outdoor stuff before.
We made a bench cushion and what was leftover for a fence flap to shade a side of our chicken run for them to escape the sun when they want.
They held up okay for a year or so and they're way cheaper than replacing the blinds every year.
I can paint, stencil, dye them or whatever.
I like Sherwin Williams or Menards for Drop cloths on that Roman shade project I would use either iron on interfacing or sew on kind to give more body and it would let less light through for more privacy between the slats when it's down ! Hope that makes sense !! Great idea

What's truly annoying about these types of videos, particularly from Hometalk, is the length of time , or rather lack of time, spent on viewing the finished product. Most creative people are visual learners and not enough time is allotted for the viewer to take in the result. Some good ideas here, but I can't say I've imprinted the images on my mind well enough to try anything. Too bad.

How is it that people who are looking for a nice looking window dressing don't even think to press the window treatments?
Beautiful homes some are even newly built with updated furnishings then they hang their window coverings of choice on a rod that came straight out of a package from a warehouse and call it good! I challenge those who doubt me about the SUPERIOR look...just press one side and see & "feel the difference".
My face would look a lot better too if I could iron out the wrinkles.
I have st hung curtains up did not iron them the whole room looks trashy but I'm too lazy to take them down iron and hang back up I think it's called old age. Oh well

@Christine Robinson, they sell them at Wal-Mart in paint dept. They are called Drop Cloths. They sold for 10.00 now because of War. They raised the price to $11.11.
You can order them from Home Depot for $11 for the large thick ones. That is a better price than Harbor Freight

My mom had a drapery business and made them all the time. It involved little white plastic rings hand stitched onto the back of the shade and threading white drawstring cord through the rings. Measure spacing carefully!

Please what is a drop cloth , I’m 8n england and and never heard of them
Typically used to protect floors when painting. 100% cotton and hemmed on all sides. Sizes up to 8 ft x 10 ft here. Some come with a plastic backing but obviously you don't want that on curtains. Cotton or linen damask tablecloths can be pretty too.

OK I’m a little slow. I need some directions for the first curtains that she made . you just take the drop cloths fold them over to make the curtains and let them drape someone with a little creativity please help me out please. 😌
You got it. The reason you fold them is to adjust the length with out sewing. The fold over part looks like a valance. Drop cloths come in lots of sizes. You might find one that is the exact length and then not fold it over but just hang it on a curtain rod with the little clips. Its really that easy. A drop cloth is hemmed on all sides so it looks "finished". You can also do this with table cloths. Vintage table cloths are cute or new ones . If you buy new, you can get multiple identical ones to match every window in the room. Table cloths are basically a big piece of fabric that is hemmed on all sides. You might find that too much light comes thru with some fabrics. You can simply use two layers of fabric. I also like to add thin layer of fleece in winter to keep the cold out. Fleece is a great option because it doesn't have to be hemmed at all. Cut it, put the clips on, slide the clip/rings on the curtain rod and you are done. Fleece comes in lots of colors. Drop cloths are 100% cotton and can be dyed.

Canvas drop cloth for curtains is tacky.
Would work in a rental. When you leave, just bin them. (they won't wash well because of the plastic-y backing). However, I have used calico for curtains. Calico gets softer and whiter, the more you wash it, and looks good with polished wood floors and certain types of decor.

Depends on the decor, the ones I have seen look really good. Maybe not in a NYC penthouse, but we spent a week in a little cabin in the mountains and their decor had this look all thru it and it was beautiful. It was such a comfortable place to be we hated to leave. It really was beautiful, but not everyone has the same taste, thank goodness, it would be boring to see the same ideas in every home.
When you do NOT explain what you are doing the video becomes much less helpful almost useless.
