"I Begged God To Take My Life" Adekunle Gold Opens Up About Sickle Cell Struggles

- Nigerian singer/songwriter Adekunle Gold has come out to reveal his health struggles with sickle cell anemia.
He revealed this in a lengthy newsletter titled ‘My Truth’ where he shared with his fans on how he begged God to take his life when he was twenty years old, amongst other things.
Adekunle Gold wrote, “It feels liberating to finally be able to share this part of my life with you, to finally be able to speak my truth. When I talk about how I struggled to get to where I am today, I need you to know that my struggle was real. I was born with sickle cell disease. It was life and death, it was physical, mental, and financial, you name it and I went through it all. It was tough, painful, and frustrating. I lived with a sickness no one around me understood. I lived with restrictions all my childhood.”

@ Micheal Farmland . I almost 😅 married an SS due to Mercy cos he told me the truth at the first date . Some you hid since they hardly have crisis. I know of men that are AS and they kept telling their wives that they are AA . When an SS child results out the union they hurriedly deny not being aware of their genotype and even deny fathering their child just to continue covering their lies. The worst part some of the family will support him even when they know the truth . ‘ we don’t give to Sickler in our family ooooo. Nah you know Wea you see sick child oooo’. Intending Couple , please get a test and be sure of what you are both going into . To all fight this illness , know that you can push through . God bless.

My first born age 9 died of complications of SS that is 18 years ago but bless be God who made us triumph. God is our strength all the time.
My son just had his sweet 16 bday in the hospital. And my bday and his bro bday and 4th of July... the struggle is real. The Caucasian medical community just don't understand. God be with us
