      Thanks! It it sad indeed, they had a train-like appearance, no low:floor tram will ever look like these.

    I grew up riding on these, no fancy electric hybrid bus could ever replace them :(

    Ricorda molto quello che avvenne a Genova; negli anni ‘50 venne smantellata tutta la linea tranviaria che serviva l’intera città e le periferie perché intralciava il traffico. Da quarant’anni ormai si vedono i risultati di quella scelta a dir poco miope; traffico su gomma perennemente fermo con relativo inquinamento fuori controllo.

      E non solo Genova, purtroppo... Negli anni 50 e 60 fu distrutto un patrimonio immenso di infrastrutture, in nome di un falso progresso di diesel e gomma. E sembra non si sia imparato granché da allora...

    Sad moment for tram enthusiasts. What vehicles will replace this tram? Would it be bus line in service?

      The very last interurban line was closed 30.09.2022. Apparently it will be rebuilt as a modern Metrotramvia. The other line to Desio closed 2011, and ATM promised a Metrotramvia since then. Nothing ever happened, no new line, no new trams. So, as usually, the winner is the bus, hopelessly stuck in traffic. So everybody takes his own car, and pollution and traffic increase even more. The usual end.

      @@TrainRM Says on Italian Wikipedia that there will be new swiss-made trams on the Desio and Limbiate lines, but take that with a pinch of salt

      Yes, of course, ATM ordered 80 new Tramlink from Stadler. 50 should be urban version, 30 extraurban or suburban version. But the only difference is in seating. So they can use them all 80 in the city and that's it, it happened several times before in Italy...
