- The East Broad Top Railroad is an Industrial Time Machine located deep in the mountains of central Pennsylvania. This Railroad is nearly 170 years old, made it's living from hauling coal out of the remote mountain mines, and miraculously survived nearly untouched into modern times.
After being saved by a scrapper in 1956, it has now been sold into it's 3rd generation of ownership, the non profit EBT Foundation. We will take a look at today's current operations and explore just why this icon of industrial America is so important in today's world.

Its amazing what they are doing at the east broad top.
I must say that this is most likely the best video on the EBT. that I have seen to date. You did a wonderful job in the format of presentation of this video. You made me feel like I was right there with you on the visit. Thank you so much for sharing!
This one was so much fun to make!
This is the absolute best UA-cam video about the EBT Railroad. Thank you for putting in the time/effort to create this video- this documentary.
I was so amazed by the place, and creating this video was a real joy.
The amount of work done at the EBT in the past 3 years has just been phenomenal. It looks like you are off to a great start in your steam extravaganza. :D
I agree. I was very impressed on what they have done so far, and am very excited about their vision for the future. It’s in great hands.
I’ve heard what Dave mentioned about timing on Southern valve gear. I guess the 630 is the odd duck, cause our guys somehow got it squared up for both forward and backwards.
What else would one expect from a boilermaker, never involved in valve setting before?
@@kellyanderson3634 I’m just an operations guy that can do some shop work. I’ve helped tube a boiler, do staybolts (both production and installation), I’ve helped with crown sheet replacement, and annual inspections.
Wonderful video, thanks for sharing! Been there, done that but learned a lot.
😎
What has happened to the original passenger equipment?
I sub'd, Im excited to finally go there this wkd for my bday. looking forward to it. Did you ever tide Tioga Central when they were in either NY or PA? They closed up due to covid (bs x( unfortunately).
I have not. Unfortunately have not been to NY since I was a kid.
