Winter Olympic Stadiums (1924-2026)

List of all main winter Olympic games stadiums through history from 1924's Stade Olympique de Chamonix to 2026's San Siro.
An Olympic stadium is the site of the opening and closing ceremonies. Though not all of these venues, many actually contain the words Olympic Stadium as part of their names. Olympic Stadium may also be named a multi-purpose stadium that hosts Olympic sports.
The Winter Olympic Games is a major international multi-sport event held once every four years for sports practiced on snow and ice. The first Winter Olympic Games were held in 1924 in Chamonix, France.

The BC Place seating capacity information is incorrect. The seating capacity for BC Place was 59,841 up to the Olympics. Immediately AFTER the Olympics and Paralympics, there was a $500 million renovation that, among other things, saw capacity reduced to 54,500 due to the replacement seats being several inches wider.

I prefer the Winter Olympics to the Summer Olympics. I wonder how some of the hotter countries create the Winter Olympic feel to them. I can understand Canada and those countries that get lots of snow but not sure how London would fare for example

It's 2026 and they will be in Milan and Cortina d"Ampezzo (Cortina has hosted them before, in 1956.) The Los Angeles Summer Olympics are the ones scheduled for 2028, July 14th-30th, and those dates will make them the earliest ones since Amsterdam 1928 (which, in turn, was the first time they were compressed into two weeks).

Cortina d"Ampezzo has hosted the Winter Olympics before, in 1956 from January 26th-February 5th. Those dates make them the Winter Olympics, with the 2nd-earliest starting date; the ones with the very earliest one were the ones in Chamonix in 1924.
