After I started Menopause I had a hard time sleeping until I discovered audiobooks, putting one on for a set time period puts me easily to sleep. I set a bookmark so I can easily find my way back to where I started listening , because it rarely takes me long to set my brain on the story instead of it keeping me awake . Our library has thousands of free audiobooks I can listen to, all I needed was a library card and got the library app Libby and another one called Hoopla at no cost.
Yes a friend recommended that, I just haven't got around to trying it out. I get to sleep easily enough but it's waking up in the early hours that gets me. I should organise myself better with the audio books for sure. xx
perfect timing on the duvet vid. it is 37.5 C/ 99F with 99 humidity here today. Am so looking forward to our "At home with Helen" segments! there are so many things that you think of as "common" that your friends across the internet would love to know.....
Hi Helen - really empathise with the sleeping problem. I read somewhere on You Tube about a breathing exercise which is supposed to slow the heart rate down which is breathe in for a count of 4, hold for 7 and out for 8. Stop when you have had enough. Strangely enough it does seem to work. If all else fails go downstairs, make a cup of tea and look at the I pad. Best of all when you have posted something!
Helen, I use my steamer for everything it works for me, but as I live alone, I'm supposing it should however I have used it for my daughters air crew uniform but I'm sure with ironing shirts a good crease is necessary. Personally, besides Robs shirts, etc, you could steam almost everything. Ps I've given up ironing bedlinen folding correctly after drying saves lots of time. AND I can sit down and do it. Years of backbreaking ironing, I was in the armed forces, and all my children's school uniforms HAD to be pristine, I know now I went overboard back then lol xx
Helen you talking about trouble sleeping I have the same problem. I am often awake and wandering during the night. I was told if your brain starts thinking to try and write down the things that you are thinking about. Works for me sometimes 😊
I find that if I do that, my brain wakes up completely and I have no chance of getting back. I try and meditate.... sometimes it works, but not always xx
Really enjoying your ‘at home with Helen’ videos. You are a natural Helen and explain things in a clear and informative way. Looking forward to the next. You are a star x
I might get both! Thanks, Helen. Great that the cooling duvet means you don't have to remove any bedlinen and put them back on after washing as with this, you just put the whole thing in the wash as is! That's very useful to me as I hate putting large duvet covers on and then off and undoing and doing up all of those buttons! x
A fabulous idea At home with Helen. I really love the casual chat while doing what you are doing. Going to have to keep the kitchen tidy now as well as the hall. Or get the cabin sorted 🤣♥️
The tanning drops look great,I’ve not seen them before so thanks for the demonstration. The cooling comforter sounds just the thing for these hot nights ❤
A interesting video as always. I also don't sleep very well either, it's like as soon has I put my head on the pillow my mind runs away with me and I end up thinking about all kinds of stuff. It's like a light bulb switching on. My husband is another story, the moment his head (like Rob) hits the pillow he is away and very rarely wakes up and therefore as a good steady 7-8 hours per night - lucky so and so!. But he does snore, so I do use earplugs. Looking forward to another Home with Helen. If you have read any good books lately do share. xx
Hi Helen, iv been using the tan drops for my legs as they are so white without it the best thing iv ever use I put it in my moisturiser after shower and build it up over a few days. At home with Helen sound good see you in your next at home 😊😁
It's very hot and humid here in New York State. Fortunately, we have central air, otherwise I couldn't handle this heat. Texas is having terrible heat in the 100s in Farenheit!! I also have to be covered while I'm sleeping . Waking up and not being able to get back to sleep happens to me as well. Very hard to turn the brain off! Looking forward to Home with Helen!!
I love Summer and I live in South Africa, and the hot nights are draining. We don’t have air conditioning in our homes always. Hope we get those duvets here. Looks fabulous.
I enjoyed your vlog At home with Helen,,In Florida the temperature has been in the 90's and beyond .However everything in Florida has A/C I also have ceiling fans..that cooling comforter been be great here.
Love your at home videos Helen with your practical tips and ideas. Tanning drops are definitely a must and so easy. Oh dear sleeping that's another story especially with this heat but love summer.
Hi Helen thanks for the advice and demo on the tanning drops. The cooling cover looks great . Look forward to your Helen at home I'm not really into crafts but will love the baking and cooking recipes or handy tips on anything. Jan x
Hi Helen. I can totally relate to insomnia as I only sleep for an average of 4-5 hours a night. I live in Greece where obviously the summers are very hot and although we have air conditioning in every room, I really dislike it. I can’t bear for all the windows and doors to remain closed so I have a large fan, sleep on cotton sheets but have nothing covering me. This duvet looks interesting and perhaps works like those cooling pads for our pets. I hope you update us with your opinion once you’ve used it for a bit longer.💖🌸
Hi Helen. Love the at home idea. You are very talented. I dont sleep well but hubby's out like a light. I have to sleep with some sort of cover too. Duvet sounds good. Not tried tanning drops but may be tempted to try them, thank you xx
Love the video Helen. Keep them coming. Gosh loved hearing the birds 🐦🐤singing near your bathroom window. 😂Your garden is lovely, how about a tour of your garden? Yes I've used the tan drops great results for me too. Sending ❤from Rosie O from Devon England 👌🇬🇧
What a great recommendation Helen, love the idea of a cooling duvet. I wonder how affordable it is. You always share the price of the clothes with your followers. Thank you
Hi Helen, glad you showed the Tanning Drops i got a set on QVC TSV for both me and my daughter, i still haven't used them but will do this week now i have watched you, i also got with the set an instant spray tan i just use in my arms and bottom of my legs that's really good, look forward to your next video your a busy bee xx
Hi, I've done the first one.... not sure if you've seen it.. ua-cam.com/video/-RQS7eXxSho/v-deo.html. It ended up being before this one because this one got delayed xx
Looking forward to the next Helen at Home video. The new duvet sounds interesting, thought you were going to disappear from behind it when you held it uo😄😄
Hi Helen, I’m definitely going to try the tanning drops and I love the idea of at home with Helen can’t wait to see more cooking and craftily I enjoyed yesterday’s video . ❤ Shirley xx
Fun information about duvet- no need where I am with central air, I am in the South in the States so, most nights it is a sheet or very light blanket. Hope it helps you two to sleep. I sleep about 5 or 6 hrs and my body thinks its time to get up (even at 4am!! ) “at home with Helen” great name.
Why do men go straight to sleep instantly and I toss and turn for hours. I am very interested in the comforter. You didn’t mention price so I will have a look. You are becoming a necessity in my life 😂. At home with Helen is a must. Thank you xx
Hi again - it sounded as though your posts make me sleepy - didn’t mean that - just get a bit excited to see your posts and then I don’t care if I can’t sleep!
At home with Helen seems great, enjoyed it. The tanning drops look good and I shall be investing in those, most definitely. The duvet seemed to be a wonderful idea but you didn’t tell us how much it was ? 😮
Thank you. The first At home is here: ua-cam.com/video/-RQS7eXxSho/v-deo.html The price depends on size, the link is in the description box. They are pricey, probably because it's new technology.... xx
Hellooo helen, like you I need to feel a cover of some sort on me, but not this week it has been sweltering, being able to wash the comforter is a plus, looking forward to your at home with helen series I call it series as I feel you're on the telly or should be ,any tv people wacthing take note👍❤
How marvellous, another video. Love the idea of “At home with Helen” once a month. Will buy the tanning drops..how often do you apply them in a week? The duvet looked like parachute material.🏴xx
I bought the tanning drops after Helen showed them before and they are great. They do come in two colours light and dark but you can adjust by using more or less drops. I have two dark spots and one uncoloured mole on my face so I cover these areas with moisturiser before I use the tanning drops and moisturiser and I avoid rubbing it over the dark spots and mole as they will go darker. It's great because now my face can match my body which has a good tan thanks to the great weather we've been having here in the UK, (no fancy holidays for me like Helen LOL😂). It also means I don't have to wear makeup everyday which is great especially when I'm at home and not going out. Will have to have a look at the cooling duvet as we are heading into another heatwave for the last 2 weeks of July with temperatures of 40°C predicted. Global warming is real ladies. 😢
At Home sounds good to me Helen. Most of the day was spent cleaning windows but no matter how I clean them they never end up totally smear free - so frustrating - any thoughts?
Is that the only amount of moisturiser you put on your face? It seems such a small amount. I use a goid cream but put on twice that amount at least! So drops would go twice as quickly. I prefer to add Dove self tan after using moisturiser
Great idea the cooling duvet but to be honest Helen, stupid price !! They advertised on this morning a very thin duvet from dunelm, a 10th of the price!!! Loving the at home videos x
Hi Helen, I use the tanning drops about every 3-4 days but I use 4-5 drops and it’s the dark one and I’m a redhead but it doesn’t go very brown, do you do yours every day
Regarding sleeping, I'm a dreadful light sleeper and once I wake up I find it really hard go get back to sleep so I listen to LBC radio through tne night. Having them droning on about the economy or prior to that Brexit or whatever is enough to bore me back to sleep. It usually works LOL😂 Another tip for those of you who live with, or who are a snorer, is to use the tearable papery plaster tape to tape your mouth whilst sleeping because, although it looks weird, (think Hannibal Lecter 😂) it stops you from snoring. If you are a mouth breather your mouth dries up and that can wake you up when you can't breathe or swallow, so having your mouth closed means that doesn't happen and you sleep better and longer. I've tried it and it does actually work and you don't wake up with that awful dry mouth. Poundland sells rolls of papery plasters for £2 and you can just tear off a piece each night. If you need to cough at any time, it is really easy to tear it off your mouth and it doesn't hurt. Easy for me as I live alone but anything is worth it for a good nights sleep and if your other half is a snorer and driving you nuts, why not get them to try mouth taping to see if it helps.
We just got a cooling mattress pad, (as most the mattresses these days have some kind of foam instead of springs). It does feel cool to the touch, and is very soft, but I'm not sure I notice a lot of difference. It's only been a couple of weeks, so the jury is out. Duvets (used on their own, without sheets/blankets) are very unusual here in the US, although that's what I use, and launder the covers weekly, but a lot of time in the Summer I sleep with nothing over me. Can you use a cover with it, or would that negate the cooling factor?
Thank you. Honestly, I don't think I would stand a chance if I got up and had tea and toast. I might try the radio thing, but haven't got around to it yet. xx
Like your dress Helen..i’ve had the usual flop on purchases that will be going back, a dress that is elasticated not only round the back but on the boobs also so not something i would wear and trousers that would fit a giraffe haha.
Love the At home with Helen idea. Can’t wait for the next one.
Thank you very much xx

@@Helenmaryjo yes I saw it 🫶
Hi Helen, The tan drops must be the only tanning item I have never used , you made it look so easy going to try.
Jolly good xx
At home with Helen sounds great and agree that the tanning drops are really good. X

Great vlog Helen, a cooling duvet great idea and I love the tannng drops. Watched at home with Helen I loved it 💕
Lovely, thank you xx
Great Helen, I can’t sleep either without anything over me! 😞😞
I guess it's conditioning from a young age xx
The evercool ‘cover’sounds like the pet mats which do exactly the same thing, sounds good to me. 👍
I guess they are using the same technology. xx
Looking forward to the next Helen at Home video. The new duvet sounds interesting, thought you were going to disappear from behind it when you held it uo😄😄
Haha, that would have been funny. Rob said let me lie next to you and just pop my head up, that would have been hilarious too! xx
Face tan drops are great, i use Clarins ones and mix with my moisturiser. Cool comforter looks fab. Hope you voice and throat gets better❤
Thank you xx
The tanning drops are a great idea
They work for me xx
Hi Helen, I’m definitely going to try the tanning drops and I love the idea of at home with Helen can’t wait to see more cooking and craftily I enjoyed yesterday’s video . ❤ Shirley xx
Thank you xx
Fun information about duvet- no need where I am with central air, I am in the South in the States so, most nights it is a sheet or very light blanket. Hope it helps you two to sleep. I sleep about 5 or 6 hrs and my body thinks its time to get up (even at 4am!! ) “at home with Helen” great name.
Thank you. Yes, it was cooler last night but it was still enough of a cover xx
Hi 👋 Helen love the comforter it looks really cozy 😊
Thank you xx
hi Helen seen the duvet on Tina's posts and I use tan lux drops aswell good video again x
Oh thank you! xx
Really enjoyed a your info especially the tan drops. You are some lady. 🙏
Thank you xx
Why do men go straight to sleep instantly and I toss and turn for hours. I am very interested in the comforter. You didn’t mention price so I will have a look. You are becoming a necessity in my life 😂. At home with Helen is a must. Thank you xx
Thank you. They are pricey, and like most things will probably come down in time. I will review again in a couple of weeks xx
Hellloo Helen. The duvet sounds wonderful. I must get one thank you darling.
xx
Love the comment about “ poor Rob” sleeping ! My Mum always said the same thing about me lol
Haha xx
Hi again - it sounded as though your posts make me sleepy - didn’t mean that - just get a bit excited to see your posts and then I don’t care if I can’t sleep!
Haha, I didn't even think that.... xx
At home with Helen seems great, enjoyed it. The tanning drops look good and I shall be investing in those, most definitely. The duvet seemed to be a wonderful idea but you didn’t tell us how much it was ? 😮
Thank you. The first At home is here: ua-cam.com/video/-RQS7eXxSho/v-deo.html
The price depends on size, the link is in the description box. They are pricey, probably because it's new technology.... xx
Hi helen im off to go buy some of the tan drops 😊 xx
I think they're great. xx
Great idea but again expensive (for me). Loved to hear the little bird chirping away when you were in your bathroom, it was a happy little thing
Thank you. They are pricey, I agree xx
Hellooo helen, like you I need to feel a cover of some sort on me, but not this week it has been sweltering, being able to wash the comforter is a plus, looking forward to your at home with helen series I call it series as I feel you're on the telly or should be ,any tv people wacthing take note👍❤
Haha, thank you xx
How marvellous, another video. Love the idea of “At home with Helen” once a month. Will buy the tanning drops..how often do you apply them in a week? The duvet looked like parachute material.🏴xx
I don't have a schedule, I just do it when I think I need it. It does look like parachute fabric you're right xx
I’ve just worked out I’m a Hells Bell 🎉🎉🎉 well pleased 😄😄
Haha, you really are! xx
Thank you xx
Thanks for showing us how to use the tanning drops! Do you have to be careful with your hair?
Do you mean getting it on my hair.... never had a problem that I've noticed. xx
At Home sounds good to me Helen. Most of the day was spent cleaning windows but no matter how I clean them they never end up totally smear free - so frustrating - any thoughts?
Yes, I do. I'll do that next time. I've done the first At Home video: ua-cam.com/video/-RQS7eXxSho/v-deo.html. xx
Will look forward to it as I have so much internal glass xxx
Im looking forward again to at home with Helen ❤
Thank you xx
I’m the same as you with sleeping have to wear nightwear and be covered up
Looking forward to at home video
Funny isn't it?.... I've done the first at home vid, it came before this one in the end. xx ua-cam.com/video/-RQS7eXxSho/v-deo.html
Good stuff Helen, like this vid Elianne x
Thank you xx
Really love At Home with Helen, and totally the same no matter how hot I have to something covering me!
Thank you xx
Is that the only amount of moisturiser you put on your face? It seems such a small amount. I use a goid cream but put on twice that amount at least! So drops would go twice as quickly. I prefer to add Dove self tan after using moisturiser
Great idea the cooling duvet but to be honest Helen, stupid price !! They advertised on this morning a very thin duvet from dunelm, a 10th of the price!!!
Loving the at home videos x
I tend to agree.....I think all new technology starts out expensive and as it gets adopted it comes down.
Thank you very much xx
I would love to use the tanning drops on my face but I have two age ( brown ) spots on my cheeks that go very dark when I apply!!
Could you not avoid those.... I don't worry tbh because I think it helps if the rest of my face is browner..... but that's just me xx
Me too but I just put some ordinary moisturiser on the brown spots before I do the tanning drops and I avoid going over the dark spots.
Hi Helen, I use the tanning drops about every 3-4 days but I use 4-5 drops and it’s the dark one and I’m a redhead but it doesn’t go very brown, do you do yours every day
Hi, no, I just use them whenever I remember really, or just when I think I need a top up xx
Regarding sleeping, I'm a dreadful light sleeper and once I wake up I find it really hard go get back to sleep so I listen to LBC radio through tne night. Having them droning on about the economy or prior to that Brexit or whatever is enough to bore me back to sleep. It usually works LOL😂
Another tip for those of you who live with, or who are a snorer, is to use the tearable papery plaster tape to tape your mouth whilst sleeping because, although it looks weird, (think Hannibal Lecter 😂) it stops you from snoring.
Might be a silly question but what do you clean your shower glass with very streak free for the bit showing thanks
Ah, that's a good tip for my next 'AHWH" xx
We just got a cooling mattress pad, (as most the mattresses these days have some kind of foam instead of springs). It does feel cool to the touch, and is very soft, but I'm not sure I notice a lot of difference. It's only been a couple of weeks, so the jury is out. Duvets (used on their own, without sheets/blankets) are very unusual here in the US, although that's what I use, and launder the covers weekly, but a lot of time in the Summer I sleep with nothing over me. Can you use a cover with it, or would that negate the cooling factor?
I think that would negate the cooling factor to be honest. But it's very easy to wash xx

Hello Helen just started watching! 1st!
Hope you enjoyed it! xx
Once your brain is wide awake try having cup weak tea and some toast can make you sleepy again I listen to radio sometimes bud in one ear
Thank you. Honestly, I don't think I would stand a chance if I got up and had tea and toast. I might try the radio thing, but haven't got around to it yet. xx
Hi Helen , Im like you , have to sleep with a sheet over me . I’m not a good sleeper , so that duvet looks good . J
It's a nightmare isn't it! xx
Like your dress Helen..i’ve had the usual flop on purchases that will be going back, a dress that is elasticated not only round the back but on the boobs also so not something i would wear and trousers that would fit a giraffe haha.
Ah well, keep on trying xx
Please tell me which herbal remedies work for you ?
I just use the Nytol herbal.... they help, but wear off quite quickly xx
Helen you say the tan drops are nearly 2 years old but have you checked the use by date on the bottle?
Well it says best before 12 months, but while they're working I don't worry about that. xx
Had a little giggle… you’ve made a video and kept your clothes on, yet ‘took us upstairs’….!
Ooh err missus! haha xx
