  • Two hundred years ago, Henry Schoolcraft led one of the first American expeditions into the Ozark region and traveled in part along what he called the "Limestone River". It was in fact the North Fork of the White River.
    Beginning in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks as a beautiful spring-fed river, the NFOW today holds a variety of warm and cold water fish species. In the 1940's, the Norfork Dam was built near Mountain Home, Arkansas, changing the fishery forever. The Norfork tailwater is now undoubtedly one of the Ozarks' most prolific, world-class trout fisheries!
    Join us as we float the upper section in autumn with Brad Fitzgerald and Bryan Bade, and then meet up with guide Brad Smith of AR Headhunters on the tailwater in spring. Many streamers were thrown and many BIG BROWNS were caught in "A TALE OF TWO RIVERS: History of the North Fork of the White". #BluffLineMedia #OzarksontheFly

    They need to catch and keep all the stripers they can to preserve the trout fishing, you can grow good stripers about anywhere , but you can't say that for trout .

      @@BluffLINEMedia i have some land on the little niangua near Fiery Fork - anything worthwhile there (flying fishing or other) ? not much chance yet to really spend quality time on it (it's for retirement in a few years) Happy New Year to you and maybe i will look you up for guided trip - i'm pretty much a newbie with fly fishing.

    This is a super dope video!! I can't believe this is the first time I have seen it, I have been looking for good Ozark fly fishing vids since moving here a year and a half ago from CO. I have hit the North fork below the damn, but haven't hit it above the damn due to people saying you will mostly catch stripers. Is this true in your experience? I want to get down there for a float bad, but not as eager if I will mostly be catching stripers. Thanks for the content, I will tell my other MO fishing friends about it for sure.

    Well produced video! What size tackle are you using? With it having a fighting butt, I’m assuming it’s larger than a 5 or 6...

    The trout at 7:18 is a cutthroat! Did they stock cuts in there, or how'd that get there? It could be a cutbow hybrid, but it definitely has some cut in it judging by the orange on the jaw. Anyone know when the cuts were stocked in?

    • @BluffLINEMedia
      @BluffLINEMedia  3 роки тому

      They have stocked Bonneville, Snake River, and Yellowstone cutties in the White and Norfork I believe. Not sure when for each.

      @@BluffLINEMedia Which White? The White River in Colorado runs only a few yards from my home. I know that there is one in Arkansas, One in Vermont, another Ontario, one in Quebec, and another in Idaho. Being it's a rather common name for a river, and most rivers of that name hold trout, it is important to be specific. Similarly, there are several Norfork rivers, including one which dumps into the White River in Ontario and another which dumps into the White in Arkansas. I hope you'll forgive my ignorance. It' seems people aren't too original when it comes to naming bodies of water.

    The north fork is Arkansas. No Missouri anywhere

    • @piggconstruction3907
      @piggconstruction3907 3 роки тому +1

      The North Fork of the White rises out of Wright County, MISSOURI and flows south into Norfork Lake. The North Fork then continues as a tail water below Norfork Dam in Arkansas.
