Thanks for this. I remember the last Scene South East and watched him play it live in studio that day. But I've been playing Zonk from memory for, well, as long as I can remember watching Scene South East. I nearly got it all correct, but I can now get those odd few notes right! I now have a good collection. The Southern TC ident tune - Southern Rhapsody, the original 'jingle' and the later guitar one, the theme to Day By Day and now Zonk!
Day By Day had several theme tunes. The first two were - ‘The Merry Go Round’ composed by Harold Smart/Walter Owen and the second was ‘Incandescence’ composed by Ray Davies. They used a nice tune at the weekends too for the weather called "Pink Skies.
I loved his music and I still have all of his albums.

Would love to hear your version of 'Zonk' Andrew!

Forgot to say - they last Scene South East was actually 18th December 1981, rather than the 31st December when the franchise ended.
Zonk is either a Afrikaans or Dutch Belgium Flemish word or all three
Wasn't Zonk a puppet? Zonk and Zag?
