The problem with the review is the face saving neutral position that defaults to the call on the field needing an act of god to overturn. It's very much like how the "office of the president" is considered sacred, so the clown breaking every law known to man gets a pass.

With what we know about the long-term effects of these hits, I don't see how you can have a sport like professional football anymore. What the NFL is trying to do is save a sport that is dependent on hard hits while somehow keeping it safe, and you just can't do it. So you get these ambiguous rules that you just can't accurately apply. Pass interference, hits on "defenseless" receivers, helmet to helmet contact, landing on the quarterback...these are all impossible to enforce with any semblance of consistency, no matter how hard the NFL tries to ram it down our throats. There's no way this isn't costing them viewership

As a passer you are defenseless, as a runner you are not. That's why when a QB takes off as a runner he loses the protections of a passer, even if a runningback becomes a passer, they get the protections of being passer, as they should. Same for punters/kickers, they are in a defenseless and vulnerable state.

I've been defending Jackson's other hits and how they were all legal, except for the one that he got ejected for against Washington. That said, this one definitely looked like spearing to me. I see a lot of people defending it calling it "just football," but I really don't see it that way. People often defend it by saying if a runningback took that hit, nobody would care, but I disagree there too. That was an absolutely ejectable hit, and really should have been a 15-yard penalty and an ejection. I don't think Kareem Jackson is a dirty player, though, he's just old-school in how he plays the game. He's been in the league for 13 years and it's probably easier said than done to adjust when you've been playing a certain way for so long. He's also great player. Too many players are trying to make tackles by wrapping their arms around the opponent, and it's _clearly_ not working. Jackson doesn't really do that; he throws his shoulder into their chest and levels them. Football is a violent sport, and when you're trying to stop a 6'3" 200-pound freak of nature, chances are you can't do it by wrapping your arms around him and hoping you can drag him down.

Fined 4 times so far this year, suspended twice, all for illegal hits to the head.
Suspended for 4 games for illegal hit to the head, appeals and gets it reduced to 2 games, then on his VERY FIRST TACKLE after suspension he makes another illegal hit to the head on a defenseless player and gets another 4 game suspension.
OF COURSE HE'S A DIRTY PLAYER.

    3 things:
    1) wow ALL highlights from the KC chiefs game were in favor of the eagles. I thought KC was the face of the NFL and the refs would never allow them to lose a game huh? Where are all those people now?
    2) that punt return that hit Houston #37 ..................... That's soooooooooooooo freaking bad dude! Like, I GET that you have to give preference to the call on the field ........... No, I really do. But that was just so bad. This was a completely unbiased observation as it was the first time I saw or heard the play. The clip in here was 100% clear and convincing to me that it hit Houston first ... In fact the receiving team never touched it iirc (I'm typing this after watching the whole video just going off first reaction memory)
    3) regarding the last play highlighted here: oh so NOW people want to complain about refs calling this sort of thing an incomplete pass? I vividly recall a scenario exactly like this in last Super Bowl but EVERYBODY (except KC fans) was ok with overturning the call on the field that time.

defensive players can violate the line of scrimmage and safely come back as long as no offensive players commit a false start in result of the jump and the ball is not snapped.
In the play, while the player had crossed the line of scrimmage, the tackle from Kansas city had just pointed at him (not a false start), and only started to move after the player had already returned to a legal position, therefore it is indeed a false start.

The hit on Dobbs was bad but the hit on Mattison had me seriously concerned for a second that he might have gotten paralyzed, and that was out in the open and not called, very easy call to make, it was graphic and terrifying to watch. I can't recall who the player was who made that atrocious hit on Mattison but they should have been suspended for multiple games by the NFL (if they weren't but I don't think anything happened). As a Ravens fan I don't like that there were a few iffy calls that went their way. They're not KC, they don't need refs to win.
Btw there were 3 penalty non-calls on the last 3 plays of KC's first scoring drive that the announcers didn't pick up on. 2 holds and a false start - they should have been struggling for a field goal, not walking in a TD. I'm pretty sure every single scoring drive in that game had a bad call or non-call. You didn't have to validate their fans' whining by only showing the ones that went Philly's way.
Also, was that Logan Wilson piling on at the end of that Hill run? Hmmm

I strongly believe the worse thing it could happen to any sport is betting against them. Money determines who wins the pot.

I find it strange that all off the bad calls in the Steelers / Browns game went Pittsburgh’s way. I mean, how is this not a safety? 2:28
Here’s the thing: if the officials had ruled it a safety, it would have been looked at on instant replay since every scoring play is automatically reviewed. Then if the referee saw evidence that it was not a safely, just spot the ball on the half-yard line. No harm, no foul.
My point being that, if I were an official and I wasn’t sure whether or not a play was a score (or a turnover), I would rule in favor of it being a score (or turnover) so that it triggers an automatic review; which the officials usually rule correctly on.

The thing is we have the tech to be able to determine some of these calls that are missed. Im sure there is someone programming a program that can determine holding, PIs, legal hits, and other things.
Perfect example is the punt that clearly hit the defensive player. Gps in helmet gps in ball, you can pinpoint it within inches, probably even more accurate. It would have clearly shown the ball was inches away from the offensive player but directly hit the defensive player.

In all three of these sports, people have made friends with the bench like it's a gamers couch. They see next to no time on the field.
This goes for college football as well, which has like 3-4x the teams the NFL has.
