Vice TV as in this YT channel ? Or there is also a subscription cable TV channel ?
@@johnny5805 It's a cable TV channel.
So then if we live in canada we just dont see it? Cool.
@@whohuhyesyouare5277 try here ua-cam.com/video/zQqWMYuwQ2s/v-deo.html seems they uploaded it but the premiere wouldve been on tv (idk if u can see this in canada or not)
So glad you uploaded the full episode. My DVR had an error in recording it
What a moment, just a father telling his son how to end a fight with someone you don't want to fight
I'm sure JJ has heard that story a few times before.
RIP HIS EYE OUT SON!
As Terry Funk would say: "I can't tell these people that Wrestling is real. But i can tell them that i am real." And boy, Wrestlers back then where real alright.
johnny valentine first said that
@@larryfloyd4993 that true but terry give this substance maybe that why he love ECW so much
Abdullah the butcher said something similar on the dark side of the ring episode of bruiser Brody that whenever people would pay to see them wrestle it wasn’t fake when the fans left the arena they would say their matches wasn’t any bs
*were
I love the territory system so much variety and different styles depending on what territory you were in. And guys back then were for the most part pretty scary dudes I would not mess with.
Wrestling back then in general was brutal. So much traveling, almost no guaranteed money. Legit threat of riots.
Shady security at best, no security at worst.
People in the audience carrying needles, guns, and ACID.
@@dr.snakes Toru Tanaka carried a huge scar from a fan with a knife.
Just when you've heard the most "pro wrestling" thing ever from a pro wrestler, someone from the territories (in this case, Jerry Jarrett) tells you a story from back in the day where ripping out a dude's eye happens...and then the story gets WORSE than that.
Makes Meng look like a school child.
Again keep in mind that as tough as a lot of the old school wrasslers were n still are, EVERYONE respected Haku! 😂
It's either Haku would defend you with his own life or he will eat you. It's a simple fact of life.
Yeah, Haku would legit bite your nose off if you told him wrestling is fake
@@SairajRKamath David Shultz would have slapped Haku
@@chrismemphis8062 sorry sir but no cause the guy he slapped was a reporter not knowing anything about the sport...if haku got slapped like that best believe he's retaliating
That's because they did not want to die horribly.
This entire story is absolutely insane! Everyone should lookup this entire story! It’s crazy!
Met Jerry Jarrett a LONG time ago in Nashville and had a private conversation with him. A Highlight of my life.

He proceeded to have you from the backside. He was a real hard worker. He had this grunting style. He would grunt. And you were interested to get involved.
Those old school wrestlers were a different breed.
The Crusher was my favorite, cigar and all
Old school everybody was a different breed lol
Cornette always says it
@@nicks6657 Correct. A lot of those guys were splitting wood with an axe and doing farm work when they were 7.
Anyone 50+ years old lived that way where I come from.
Sure was a different time !
Pro wrestlers back then are straight shooters and no nonsense individuals. They will defend themselves by any means necessary without thinking twice. Big respect for the heroes of pro wrestling of yesterday!!
All this episode needed was Jim Cornette & Terry Funk lol 😂. The alumni of Memphis wrestling Jerry Jarrett, The king, the mouth from the south & the dirty Dutch over 4 decades ago I know it feels different seeing the people you idolise grow older but the wrestling business has taken so many talented people prematurely
The Rock showing us his roots. He's a class act in every way.
yeah the child m#lesting robot was real classy
from this short video, it's quickly apparent why jerry jarrett reigned supreme over memphis in his wrestling days. he commands that entire environment with story
Amazing that this is getting made! I love the territory stuff, hearing about it and the guys from that generation. Maybe you could do a career documentary of people. Just about one guy and the stuff that happened, I know there are shoot videos and I really enjoy watching/listening to those, I just think it could be made really great with some talented people like these guys.
I hope this runs many seasons!
I miss wrestling like this. I grew up during the Greco Roman era with guys like Jean Exbroyat when there was no shame in suspending disbelief. Pro wrestling felt more like a sport than entertainment.
Keep those great videos coming 👍🏻👍🏻 I love wrestling! 😎
Tales from the territories comes out in just 2 hours and 15 minutes with full episodes!!
I saw him tell this story in the film Memphis Heat, which was incredible. Highly recommended.
Looks like an awesome series. I'll be watching 😎
Im so excited for this. I want to learn more about the territory’s.
In about 1966 Cub Scout pack went to Saturday Morning Wrestling WHBQ TV 13 on Highland, I was about 7. Saw Herb Welch and Tojo Yamamoto and a few others
This is already seemingly as good as dark side of the ring
I remember back in the 70’s a wrestler named The Kentucky Butcher supposedly beating a man to death in the ring, he was about 8 inches taller and about 75 pounds heavier than the jobber, but in hindsight it was probably just part of the show.
john quinn?
@@MAINEVENT99 Seems like it. - Mighty John Quinn was The Kentucky Butcher back in the 70s. - Never heard that story before though. - Hard to believe.
Started going to the matches in louisville when I was 2 in the 70’s… I am loving this!!!!!
Louisville Gardens! How long did you keep going? Such a shame that wrestling is no longer such a huge part of the Louisville experience.
@@KentKaliber we went until I was 14ish
So… 1985… it was a Tuesday night tradition and Saturday at noon on channel 3 😉
My friend and I played wrestling manager~ lol
Bill Dundee was my favorite!!
I can't wait to see this tomorrow.
Nowadays a wrestler is more of an acrobatic showboater
yeah its more dangerous

Multiple people who were there have confirmed that jerry Jarrett never pulled galento’s eye out but still a good story none the less
Liar. Then WHY WOULD HE SAY HE DIDD!!!??😡💯👇🏼 NOW!
@@ASCUMBAGWh0re because it’s a good story that makes him sound like a badass. The creators of the show even said the people at the table with him were rolling their eyes and couldn’t find anyone to confirm that his version of the story actually happened.
@@clemfandango2930 but that means everything is a lie then.. how can you believe any stories if that ones a lie?? I don't trust any of them now!
@@ASCUMBAGWh0re other stories have people who can corroborate their authenticity, this story does not. Lawler tells a story about getting a police siren and light and pulling Kamala over outside of Memphis and fucking with him as a rib and nobody was there except those 2 but kamala told the same story so obviously that one is true.
The whole business is a work, bro 😂
love these wrestling docs
I hope we get this series in Australia.
Glad to see jimmy hart here after staying with ben mallah
The story he originally told was that he hit Galento in the eye with a nightstick, not that he pulled his eye out of his head.
yep
In the show the nightstick comes in later
@@shinrugal yes it was Galinto's "return match"..
All of these old wrestlers lie their asses off. A story is better than the truth.
This looks amazing
I heard some wild stories like this about Memphis wrestling from Billy Wicks
hope they'll talk about stu hart's stampede wrestling promotion in a future episode.
Hyped for this
Well, I'm hooked
Good too see jerry and jeff on good terms
it's all fun and games til someone loses an eye.
Oh my god!! 😱😱😱😱

Kayfabe is strong in this story but it's entertaining.
Or straight bullshit
"And then he lost his eye"

Certainly better training than nowadays. A good 5 years tops just showing these models a move or two and off they go to wrestle !
five weeks, tops
Got any stuff on Ken Patera. the best heel in the business? Or was this before his time?
slightly before patera came to memphis.. he did come through though.. so did bundy and rude and jim anvil neidhart and basically everyone.
these are gonna be like live-action cornette podcast lol
Who's the guy talking in the first 40-something seconds of this clip?...
I can't place him.
...mental note. Don't get into a fight with this guy.
Ok got to admit that was pretty rad
When I was a kid, just going to Portland Wrestling was dangerous.
Jeff Jarrett is like the youngest person on that table.
I gotta watch this
When a DDT just isn't enough.
now that was a story
Remember kiddies, the strongest muscles in your body are in your jaw. The average human being exerts about 160 pounds of force per square inch in a single bite, which is enough to tear through skin and break bones.
And like the man said, the finger bones are the weakest. Do the math.
Brutality at it's most brutal.
😳 well that escalated quickly lol
Jesus, look at Sailor's ears!
More!

They going to do a Memphis Wrestling episode "Without" Bill Dundee ?
I am thinking the same thing. He is a part of memphis wrestling. So is Dave brown
You know the old saying: when in doubt, pluck it out.
Nice!
Mad respect,
He looks like Jack Black in the picture
Send me in the direction of dark side of the ring please
Old school viciousness
Wrestling got real before the WWF era more often than a casual fan/non-fan could believe.

Jared Jarett doesnt sounds like Bruce Prichard's impression.
To bad that they didn’t cover the Jerry Lawler/ Andy Kauffman angle, but then again that would take about 2 hours to talk about.
That will be in the episode 2
Well...I'm sold
Is this real? Where’s the clip of him Pullin that eye out, I wanna see it lol.
Recording matches wasn't that common in the 70s. Heck, much of the territory footage from the 80s is gone simply because the promoters would record over old tapes to keep costs down.
Dude it's zeb colter 😳
Does jimmy hart age?
Why do these guys have to lie? Lawler in his own book said he pulled Galento off & Galento ran back to the locker room & got a nightstick, came back to the ring & they got it off him & whacked him in the head/eye with it. There was no eye pulled out-as shown by the photo he had taken after.
"Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story."
"Why do these guys have to lie?" he asks...about wrestlers, whose entire occupation is built around carny style deception.
@@dr.snakes I expect them to lie of course, but the fact everybody around the table knows it is a bs story & one of them wrote a book detailing a totally different incident makes it even more stupid than the usual fibs/embellishments. A simple internet search, let alone asking Meltzer, Cornette etc would have shown Vice it was bs-you expect it with most stories, but not even bothering to fact check somebodies eye being pulled out?
Ok so this is a lie dam I would have been heard of this. I hate lies they destroy stuff. 😡😡😡
The whole world is built on lies. Very very little truth is put out.
The great days of professional wrestling!!!!
Wait he plucked a guy's eye out on live TV!?
Damn did they keep rolling or did they cut the feed?
Old school wrestling was brutal
yup that’s what it said in the title
Was still staged
The best made it LOOK brutal, but it wasn't, huge difference.
A WILD SLAPNUT APPEARS
DOUBLE J .. HAHA.. JEFF JARRETT!!
Unlike Shawn Michaels and the Marine.. the Golden rule was you lost a bar fight you were fired... Kayfabe baby you go out drinking you take Haku he clears bar if any starts problems

Galento came back a few weeks later with a gun.
