- Cookie and I go camping in Northumberland, visiting Berwick-upon-Tweed, Happy Valley (near Wooler) and I take a swim in the River Rede with Mary Ann Rogers. We check out the beautiful countryside and exploring an area I holidayed in as a child. The campsite was so peaceful and ducklings and rabbits roamed freely www.highburn-house.co.uk/
The Happy Valley walk was a 4-mile circular detailed in the PDF downloadable from this link: www.shepherdswalks.co.uk/blog...
Mary Ann Rogers is a renowned artist and swimming adventurer, you can visit her gallery in West Woodburn, or check out her work online www.marogers.com/

See you in the water soon.
Berwick has changed a lot in the last 40 years particularly around the walls. Many of the buildings around there have been restored. It is a lovely part of the world to live in.
I’d have loved to have spent a bit more time exploring. It’s a fascinating place, thanks for watching.
Over the moon to see i had another everyday athlete video to watch this evening, you never fail to entertain thanks again for all the hard work you put into your videos 🥰
Thanks Matt, I hope you enjoy it. Settle down with a cuppa and a biscuit for this one ☕️🍪
What a beautiful hike and swim. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Such a stunning area with special quality of light. Felt like I was in one of Mary Ann Rogers paintings 🖼️
Hello 👋!! I was so happy to see you’d posted a video this morning and have finally just found time to sit down with a brew to watch it! What a great adventure! The camping, walking and swim all look super fun! I’m looking forward to Part 2 already!
Aw thanks Katy, good to be back. I’m pleased you enjoyed the video, just about the length of a cup of tea too! x
Lovely to see you back. Great video and looking forward to part two
Thanks so much! 😊 It was fun making this one and it’s sequel!
Beautiful scenery!
It really is!
Glad youve enjoyed Northumberland, but don't go telling everyone about it. They'll all want to come. 😂
I think the long drive will put a lot of people off 🤣
Thank you Rachel. Love Northumberland and haven't been for years. Whizzed past Berwick the other week en route to St Andrews. Really like the countryside around there
The colours in the countryside were amazing. I’d defo go back again, despite the 350 mile journey.
Well Rachel I think you will win the gold medal at the next Olympics for super diving well done, looks great at Northumberland for you both,I’ve been swimming in Blakeney and Sheringham really nice to be away .
Ah Norfolk is lovely. Many hours spent at Sheringham growing up. Glad you had a good time.
True confessions Rachel… I’ve been busier than a one-armed squirrel in a peanut factory so I saved this video for a time when I could sit down and fully enjoy it without interruption. WoW… what a trip… I feel like I’ve been on vacation. I just loved the variety of sights and activities you have shown us. I cannot imagine walking in an area where the rock work dates back to 1296. The camping (and your breakfast) looked amazing!! Your tent is palatial… Cookie is a lucky doggo!! The walk through the heavily greened area (those ferns) in the shade looked very peaceful. The swim with your friend seemed really awesome. How do you like your swim mask? Can you see more than if you were wearing goggles? Here in the wilderness of northern 🇨🇦 it’s late at night and finally it is starting to cool down a bit inside the house… I sat here at my desk eating my Chocolate Peanut Butter Gelato and enjoyed every minute of your adventure. It’s great to see you back in action and moving about doing exciting things in the outdoors. Thanks for bringing us along. I look forward to Part 2!! Ⓜary💦🏊♀🦫
Sounds like you’re super busy Mary. Hope you’re finding some time for yourself and getting in your local lake with all the wildlife. I’m pleased you enjoyed part 1, the scenery was stunning. So fun to catch up with my friend too 🏊♀️🤣💦🤪
Loved this Berwick is one of my favourite places so know it well , campsite looks good , hope you get to check out the amazing beaches I’ve swum in the sea all year round and we’ve seen dolphins of the coast a few times .
It’s a beautiful area. I didn’t make it into the sea on this occasion, but I’ll be back! I did spot a couple of seals in the Tweed. The area seems so untouched! Thanks for watching!
Thanks
Wow! Thank you 😊
Great swim lady’s,Cooky is very cute love the video, nice size tent,we of in our touring caravan next week to Norfolk ,looking forward to getting in the sea for a change,as I swim in a lake every week .👍
Oh you’ll have a lovely time in Norfolk. Enjoy!
Thanks Rachel, yeh be nice to get to swim in the sea for a change ,you do really interesting and really good information on all aspects on outdoor swimming, thanks.
Chris 👍
@@chrisfigiel1150 aw thanks Chris 😀💦🏊♀️
I love watching your swimming adventures. Where do you find your locations for swimming spots like the one you went to in this episode? The tent looks great too. Northumberland is on my wish list for next year. I’ve been a few times for walking hols, but before I was into open water swimming, so next time I’ll make the most of it.
I usually start with google maps and Daniel Start’s 300 hidden swim spots to get some ideas. This one was Mary Ann’s idea as she’s been there quite a lot.
Lovely. Thank you. Have I missed hearing about your test results?
I haven’t managed to film it yet but will do so shortly. Thanks for asking about it!
Berwick is a lovely town, glad you enjoyed it. How did you attach your camera to your float to take the video of you swimming? Keep up the good work. 👍
It was a beauty of a town. I use a chest strap camera mount around my towfloat.
clegs are one of the reasons i stopped walking in the country. they just became too much and walking in a net just seems pointless.
What are clegs? Those horrid flies?
@@EverydayAthleteRach horseflies. hell bastards.
Thanks
Thank you, did you do super thanks twice or is there a glitch on my notifications? x
@@EverydayAthleteRach I did it twice as I couldn't increase the amount manually x
@@jackodub65 that’s lovely, thank you, made my day x
@@EverydayAthleteRach just a token of appreciation for the work you put into the videos, the content and information is always so interesting and informative x
