- Want to know how to travel Greece and do it on a budget? Here are my best tips and tricks on how to travel through Greece and where you can save money.
Greece is undoubtedly an incredible place to visit and stay but it can also be tough to do on a budget. Follow all of these tips to help you save big on your next visit to Greece.
When you do decide to make the budget Greece trip of a lifetime be sure to plan multiple islands out to get the most out of your experience. The most expensive part of the trip will be your flight over. Once you are there there are plenty of ways to cut costs and save money on everything you do. The good news is the majority of things to do or see are free or very cheap once you get there! If you can travel with a buddy you both will be able to save a lot of money! If you are traveling alone that is ok too, you will be able to use my solo traveler tips to get away with a cheap vacation.

Late September is the best time to go, IMO. It’s still warm enough to swim and enjoy the beaches but the tourist season is over so the tickets are cheaper. If beaches aren’t your thing then November is even cheaper.
Subways in Athens are easy to maneuver so get an AirBnB close to the line while you’re there.
Stay out of the tourist areas for dining and it will be WAY cheaper!
my sweet memories at Santorini, Crete & Rhodes. I did a detour to Rhodes by a 90mins speed ferry from Fethiye, Turkey in July 2019. I also met interesting people at the hostels, it always have nice kitchen, balcony to air dry my cloths. In Crete my guesthouse has a lemon tree full of big lemons, we just help our self to the free lemons on the ground. If you are planing a trip to Greece during April, make sure you Google Greek Easter days, so that you are not stuck with closed stores for 3 days, it happen to me. I learned my lesson and sharing it!

When i was in greece with my parents we just walked to our destinations regardless thr distance 😂

The land of Greece is one infused with ancient mythology and if you like archeology, history, art, and philosophy then a trip to this fascinating country is not to be missed. Greece is made up of a series of idyllic islands that are surrounded by jet blue seas and covered in dainty white buildings, and you will also find crumbling ruins, engaging museums, and pretty coastal towns aplenty.
$1000 per flight is not great pricing. A better option would be to fly into a cheaper airport (Barcelona has been affordable lately) and taking a flight to Athens from there. I have flown to Barcelona for $300 and a flexible flight to Athens would have easily been under $100. Do not pay $1000 for a flight if you have flexible dates, even in the summer.

On a hotel you also goona look for silence! I experienced some cheap hotels where people act like they own the place making noise at unacceptable hours.
My advice to all of you: when in a hotel, please be as quiet as you can! If you want to ramble your mouth all night long on the balcony or in your room, please also rent the rooms that are near you.
I remember arriveing at a hotel after a 750km drive with my motorcycle through rain and twisty roads just to be woken up at 1 o'clock in the morning by some tourists with big mouths.

Tierra Bell It varies, some times months before, others, last second. Aim for just outside traditional summer Months. My favorite is September, awesome being in Greece then 🙌🏻

Definitely should have watched this before heading to Greece last summer! Though it was amazing, I found it rather pricey (im a shoestring traveller). It could be though that the cad to euro conversion sucks 😋

It can depend on where you live..Flights to Europe cost way more from the west coast (USA) than from NY or Boston. You nearly spend half a day just getting to the east coast...and that (of course), is not free.

@@roveirdatu3851 sorry I'm just seeing this! I always fly out of Chicago. Sorry I'm not sure how much it would cost for you! LAX would be your best bet. I know flights from LAX to O'Hare can be around $90, so if it's a huge price gap you could always fly to Chicago for your flight to Thailand. Hope this helps!
Its like $550-$600 on Kayak to fly from Seattle. However i have seen it as cheap as $450 and as high as $750.

Interesting tips but it could be a good idea to pay attention to the wind and noises in the background when you film. It is hard to hear you when English is not the first language.
What is the best island for natural wonders? I am thinking Milos. What is your opinion? Also can I take a ferry from there to see Santorini for and day or 2?
Milos is very touristy, especially in July/August. I would recommend Delos in September, with was the centre of the Cycladic Civilisation. So a lot of ancient sights. Plus you can go to Santorini really quick. On the other side, there are a couple of islands in the Ionian see(Zakynthos, Lefkada, Kefalonia), which are really picturesque and you can combine them all. Greetings from Greece!

As a greek i have to recommend Rhodos and Milos. If you want something a bit less touristy Zakynthos could also be an option

We just booked a 3 week August Greece vacation, and the airfare was $1800 for two, nonstop NYC to Athens. I've been told that is a good price for August.

@@danielalamilla8080 Yes, that was then, but this is now. The prices change and vary a lot. Most popular Euro destinations are in demand right now, especially for the summer of '23. The prices have gotten crazy in many instances.

I stopped watching after you said 1,000 got a flight. You shouldn't be making budget videos if you suggest this. I went for 500 peak season last summer.
Joseph Pollard depends on where you’re flying out of. The best I’ve ever done is 450 in the off season and believe me, I did a LOT of shopping around and research.

This year most of the hotels wont open in high season. Americans not allowed to enter the country. Coronavirus really did number on greek economy.
One thing about the WiFi, it’s certainly very plentiful, but I found it’s quite rare for the WiFi to actually work..best thing in my opinion is to get a sim card

For any non- Americans - flights will be a lot cheaper so don't stress about what he has said. DO NOT take out money with a card. Go to a currency exchange in your country and look for best prices and then get cash to take. Cash is king.

@@itsjustmyopinionbut1671 If you are going to the North don't forget to visist Vergina and Pella's archelogical site if you have time. Also, be careful of other drivers when driving inside greece. During your travel from athens to Thessaloniki there are plenty of beautiful places to have an intermediate stop and why not to stay for night. Bon voyage!

Jetcost always has the cheapest flights. Trust me I tried em all.
The data package with Verizon is $10 a day. Hardly a bank breaker.
it’s $25 a week with sprint and much better than Verizon. I’ve tried both. Also ... if you’re traveling for 3 weeks+, it’s getting expensive... I’m getting ready for a 25 day trip and if my husband and I both had to pay $10 a day, we’d be paying $500. Maybe not a bank breaker but definitely WAY too much to pay. Who wants to waste money???
