Intestinal obstruction- The Intestinal contents are obstructed to travel from the Proximal part to Distal part.
Congenital- Intestinal atresia, Congenital megacolon etc.
Acquired- Hernia, Intussusception
Classification-
1- Acc. Nature of Obstruction- Dynamic- Peristalsis working
Adynamic- (-)ve moving
2- Acc. To blood supply- Simple obstruction- 90%
Strangulation- 10%
3- Acc. Cause of Obstruction-
Intra-luminal- Gallbladder, Roundworms, Faeces etc.
Intra-mural- tuberculosis, stricture, Malignancy etc.
Extra-luminal- Adhesion, Hernia, Volvulus, intussusception etc.
Symptoms-
Abdominal pain(cramps- relives after (5-10 min)-Central-SI
Peripheral- LI
Vomiting/ Nausea- early in high small bowel obs, absent in LO
Abdominal distension-Central(epigastric & hypogastric)-SI
Peripheral- LI
Constipation- early in large bowel obs
Obstipation
Signs-
Dehydration
Blumberg's Signs(Rebound tenderness)
Rigidity of abdominal muscle
Absence of bowel sound (not in early stage)
Tachycardia
Fever
Complication-
Bowel ischemia- due to venous compression
Perforation- due to distension
Sepsis- due to perforation
Investigation-
CBC
Serum electrolyte
Barium meal shows FB
Plain abdominal X-rays- supine & upright view
USG abdomen
2 enema test-
After 1st enema- faces
After 2nd enema- no faces
Treatment-
Conservative-
Resuscitation- NG tube for decompression
BP normal
Fluid therapy
NBM
Antiemetics
Antipyretics
NSAIDS
Surgical Management-
Indication-
If no resolution after 72 hours
When complete blockage of the bowels
Malignancy
Perforation
Strangulation
Gangrene

Doctor ma'am kindly pls bataye.. iska kya matlab hai mera ct scan report me yeh likha huwa hai 👉 bowel loops:- Visualized small and large bowel loops do not reveal any obvious mass lesion. No intestinal luminal narrowing or distension noted. No e/o air fluid levels.
At the end me yeh likha huwa hai Impression:- No obvious abnormality is noted in plain CT study of abdomen. Advised contrast study.. kya mereke koi chinta karne ki jarurat hai?
Mam Mujhe after C section 18days k bad say na thek say gass pass hoti Hai na stool pass hota thek say soft stool b buhat zorr lghane say ata hai Kya mujhe en ma say koi complications toh nhe huie jo ap ne btaya ak sal say asa ho rha hai buhat pershan hun abdominal ultrasound krwaya wo normal aya CBC b normal aya 😢 plz kya krun kuch btaa dy

I had intestinal obstruction last month
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease 2 years back had TB in my intestine
I had been through conservative treatment for obstruction but had pain in the abdomen for few weeks then doctor again asked me to get all the tests done again like colonoscopy ct enterography and etc
I’m a bit tensed about how long will it take to cure I’m just 23 years old

@@arham.786 In my case I did surgery.. It's been 5 years still I do regular check-up in a year.. I heard that there is a local treatment for intestine obstruction..
Don't worry dear.. You will be fine, in my case doctor suggested me for a laparoscopy surgery and I did.. After that I became normal as before but I do regular check-up in a year.. Doctor told me to be careful again I can go through intestine obstruction..

@@learnwithdrshipramaam bowel obstruction ki surgery ke baad kitne dino bad relief milta h.. Main admit hoin surgery bhi ho gyi but after 10 days situation not changed.. Doctors telling me will take 6 weeks. Iminfluid diet and NG tube inserted for gas pass through nose.. No stool coming. Even after enema less stool coming plz help very afraid and in tension maam plz reply
