Nice bike, I had a '81 KZ1100 with the shaft drive. Same day Princess Diana died I tboned a car that ran a stop sign. Impact @ 50mph. I still miss the bike r.i.p. And so glad to be alive. Love your channel Ken. Keep it real and be safe.
Gosh... What a brutal, heavy machine. Back on the 80s in the UK, this was one of the machines used to get from the UK to the South of France for the Bol d'Or. Look it up. They came back some days later with totally square tyre.profiles from all the high-speed, straight-line miles. But golly, what a bike in its day. I haven't seen one for years. It was somewhat overshadowed by the liquid-cooled 900 that somehow bettered it in every category as a road machine. From desirable to dinosaur in one product launch.... I recall these being used by motorcycle couriers in London.... Seriously. I believe most of the earnings went onto rear tyres.
My brother bought one in 1982 and when he passed away 8 years ago he gave it to me. Haven't been started in 10 years but I will fix it up in a few years time when I retire.
I seem to recall moto mag covering the GPz1100 Vs GS1100ES, in an article titled " When Too Much Is Just Enough " I'm still lusting after this bike some 35 years later ! She will make someone a happy owner...
I have owned the Gpz 550 750 Turbo and the 1100 Gpz. Then the ZX11 I got a ZX14 at 45 years of age and that was my last sport bike. Nothing sounds better till this day then an 80s Vintage inline 4 Kawasaki with a Kerker on it. Wife's 2nd Bike was a Gpz 550. Now at 60 years young the only bike's remaining is a 1973 Suzuki GT 185 and a 2016 Victory Hammer and it's the Wife's.
I had a Gpz 750 1982, first bike. I also purchased bell helmets matching the colors with the stripes of the red Gpz lines. Kept the red pinstripped helmets and the shop manual as mementos.
Those Z-1100 b's were an absolute Mighty Rocketship in their day . Still a great quite low maintenance Engine to this day . Camchain was the thing to listen out for . Everything else was Unbreakable .
Dad still got his, looks just as good.his bike he rides the most is 2004 z1000 a2 , lime green. I call it ,a bucket of snot, he is a real Kwaka man, he had a 1972 z1 Jaffa for 35 years, he still wished he didn’t sell ,the Z1. He brought a HD fxdx in 2003 ,went back to,Kawasaki the next year ,the Gpz 11 is his baby,he is leaving luckey me . Good day from Australia.
I had the exact bike fuel injection 4into one exhaust . Thing would brake tire free in 3 Rd gear .I broke speedo cable first time I rode it . 85 mph on speedo what a joke . really miss it
Beautiful bike, what a sport bike SHOULD be. To bad about the fuel injection. I bought a brand new 1983 GPz550 back then, and had a blast on it. Kept it for almost 5 years. I had a chance to buy a really nice GPz1100, but passed on it because of the fuel injection.
yes !! i had the 1981 GPZ 1100 , when i was 20 , and then i got married and i sold it , bad mistake , lol , i ride a 2008 zx-14 limited edition now , but i would like to get the 1982 instead , for my collection , they made it with black chrome , lol , kinda nice !
I just came across one of these at an estate sale seems the fuel pump Ng , I’m NY, bikes all original and fires when primed with fuel if ur looking for one , Great video thanku learned a lot
Those Gpzs have really grown on me. In 1985, I had a 550LTD and my buddy got a 550 GPz. Same painting as this one. His never ran right after we added a header and rejetted the carbs. It was kinda like I was way happier with my girlfriend bike than his. Lol.
I've been searching for a replacement 1981 Suzuki GS1100E for years. I sold mine in '84. Years later I understood many were converted into dragbikes making them rare. Is that true?
Yeah, I saw that too. It's not first video I've seen of him riding helmetless with a cop in plain sight of him, yet they don't seem to say anything about it. I live in Mass, if I did that they would be on me like a fat kid to a Hershey bar. Curious.
I guess it's relative to what part of Mass you live in and whether or not the cop feels like putting in the effort. Beautiful old bikes though, these bikes are from the era when I was in my "young and stupid" faze. It's a good thing I couldn't afford one then, I would have got myself into a lot of trouble. Brings back some good memories. Ride safe.
I bought one in Germany, a 1982 model in 1983. After more than 20 years of riding I had a serious accident. While in the hospital I had it rebuilt. After about a month I was still in hospital pajamas and robe walking outside. Saw a cute women walking out and talked to her. I still had one of those back braces that keep you right up straight. She was polite but not to interested. After I was out of the hospital and back on the bike she was introduced to me while I was all leathered up and had a new helmet. Eventually took her on a tour. Germany, Switzerland, France, Costa Brava in Spain. Then up to Paris. Great bike and lead to a great wife. Bike is gone but we’ve been together for 37 years now. We did enjoy our other travels on it. The accident was uncomfortable. Broke my nose, tore up my shoulder joints a little, cracked my T5, pushed my neck vertebrae a bit. I survived and healthy enough I still stay active. But cruising we ended up in the Caribbean. Living on a boat keeps your muscles working while asleep. Constant motion. Still miss the GPZ.
Yep! From around 6,000 revs in top, suddenly went super smooth and catapulted you towards the horizon (wish I still had mine). Not anywhere near as fast as today's hayabusas etc, but still vicious acceleration through the gears. Comfortable on long rides. Happy times... :-)
My older brother had a 81 and got a 82 when he totaled the 81. Really turned me onto Super bikes at the age of 16. By the time I was 18 I had a 1984 Ninja GPZ900.
Question i owned the gpz 550 and it was crazzy fast so i always though a 1100 must b insanly fast are they because my 550 use to eat brand new 600 sportbikes for breakfast in erly 2000's ninjas, cbrs , i hade new fast bikes and big ones and my 550 was one of my fastest bikes so i always thought a 1100 gpz must be like a rocked ship
I just picked up a 1983 GPZ 1100 mint condition for 750 Canadian all that I needed was a battery and it started right up I have no idea what I'm doing with this bike I don't even know what it's worth
Ooo i bet that baby is fast i had a 550 and it was faster then a lot of new 600s if it handled better and it handeled just not good enough for how it went
That was my second bike after a KZ 750 B twin. I rebuilt both bikes after they had been treated badly and thrown away. I've never been happy with the 1100 engine for long, the cylinder heads (valve guides) have been a weak point.
Sorry, he is leaving it me. My little sister name Zoe ,dad named her after his Z1 900, Z - one- engine.= Zoe. He said Gpz stands for go- power- zoom , we love him , he is so funny , going to get some zzz, good bye from down under.
I had an 1983 GPZ 1100, I believe that I had over 50,000 in the one and only year I had it. I woke up hearing a smash and it was thrown in back of a truck. I was heart broken.
5:00 The four digital fuel injectors are not "mounted directly into the cylinder head" on this 1982 B2, they are mounted on the throttle bodies which can be clearly seen during the walk around. It was the 1981 B1 which had it analog fuel injection mounted in the head. This is what happens when the presenter spends too much time looking at a page instead of describing what he sees in front of him, I've seen this on other bike shop videos where the presenter describes two pot front calipers when clearly the bike is fitted with four pot calipers. Otherwise a great review and I wish I was there to shake your right hand while I take the keys with my left. Too busy restoring my '83 GPz750 (ZX750-E1) Turbo while maintaining my '97 ZZ-R1100-D5 (ZX11), '88 ZL1000 Eliminator, two 1000GTR-A10 Concours (ZG1000) and two ZX2R (ZX250-C1).
Had 81 fule injection.I bought to fix up.first time I tried to fire it. #1'backfired.through the head gasket. Took the head off someone melted down #1 combustion chamber was hammered.i ended up parting it .
I had this bike, it was surprising comfortable for 500+ mile rides, probably the nicest shade of red ever, Kawasaki called it "firecracker red"
Gosh... What a brutal, heavy machine. Back on the 80s in the UK, this was one of the machines used to get from the UK to the South of France for the Bol d'Or.
Look it up.

The old Kawasakis look way better than the current ones.
this was the bike to have when i was a teenager..:)
Yes it was, then 3 yrs later the Vmax came out and I forgot about them.
My brother bought one in 1982 and when he passed away 8 years ago he gave it to me. Haven't been started in 10 years but I will fix it up in a few years time when I retire.
Did you fix it ?
@@Pegasus08-m1tI sold it. I have to many bikes and cars and not really in to big japanese bikes.

I had a Gpz 750 1982, first bike. I also purchased bell helmets matching the colors with the stripes of the red Gpz lines. Kept the red pinstripped helmets and the shop manual as mementos.
I still have one. It's clapped out . The mice got to it. Outside looks pretty good. The interior is shot.
Owned the 750 I loved it...rocking bike
Those Z-1100 b's were an absolute Mighty Rocketship in their day . Still a great quite low maintenance Engine to this day .
Camchain was the thing to listen out for . Everything else was Unbreakable .
This Motorcycle was my very first back in 1982. Lovely machine. Spent lovely times on her that summer. Hi Lynne if you're reading this :-*
I own a gpz550 as my first bike. I can’t imagine riding an 1100! The 550 is incredibly fast and heavy.
Nothing sounds better than a KZ

WoW beautiful I want it!

Curious.
Bruce Morris lmao my sister's lives in mass she says where she lives people do all sorts of illegal shit

Connecticut is one of a few states that have no helmet law.... So Ken can't get hassled by the Fuzz...
I'm sure the cop knows him and the Museum/shop is good for the town. Can't wait to visit it.
put air in the tyres before you come off

My older brother had a 81 and got a 82 when he totaled the 81. Really turned me onto Super bikes at the age of 16. By the time I was 18 I had a 1984 Ninja GPZ900.
