Moi, je n'ai connu que semblables hotels que celle du Rocher-Blanc qui était en mon temps (c. '70s) transformée en la plus grande Auberge jeunesse du Québec, sinon même du Canada. Vivant à Sacré-Coeur (Rimouski) j'y ai passé beaucoup de temps à rencontrer du monde de partout sur la planète ! Où est donc la continuité de tout cela... Un hiver, Youth Hostel vide de ses fonctions depuis nombre d'années, j'y rencontre un gardien ancien cuisinier sur le chemin de fer de Schefferville (Iron Ore) qui me racontait l'histoire de la construction du service, lacs rivières montagnes montagnais, jusqu'à Knob Lake. Peut-être, pour ne pas rouiller, faut-il prendre racines dans le futur ! Loved your travel in time, very grateful for that! Who knows why, on the shores of YYY? My grandfather Norman Crawford took care of the grounds around the old Presbyterian Church, I was baptized at the United church, both churches exist today and are in very good condition. My father Gerald Crawford has a sister Norma who still resides in the old farmhouse on Station road every summer. Thanks for the memories.
What a trip down memory lane. I can still remember rummaging around in the Boule Rock Hotel basement (lots of old plumbing fixtures), racing around on the veranda (lots of old women) at the Seaside and riding my bike on the circular entrance to the Cascade and much morre.
Thanks for sharing here feelings through times... BTW, visiting Gaspesie, in the basement of Mont St-Pierre YH, we got drunk on Hotel California when it came out fresh release, on a jukebox that took a quarter then never stopped (with the right code pushed in). Cheers !! JD
