Years ago, when we traveled, we enjoyed touring old mansions on the National Historic Registry. Some gave personal tours and others gave is a headphone with a cassette so we could walk around by ourselves--that was called a "self-guided tour". When we follow you around the big thrift stores and antique malls, I feel like you are taking us on a self-guided tour--and I love it! Thank you for making these educational videos for us. You have been a blessing.
I recently found your channel and appreciate the wisdom you share. As for the Salvation Army employee there are sometimes mentally challenged people. She may be ocd. Not a great fit for a job but maybe she is working through it. But I know in my town they are having trouble getting volunteers and employees. I keep the bird figures I get usually too and we all need the inspirational stuff. I like your videos.
Goodwill hires a lot of handicapped people and it sounds like the lady working had OCD issues. We just have to forgive them and be happy that they are working and feeling good about their job. It's not always easy for you or for them. In one Goodwill I go to there is a young man that only has one fast speed. You just step aside as he goes by. Patience is the key and I'm so happy that these special folks have a job and feel like they are contributing to society.
What is there to "forgive" about handicapped people? That sounds so mean and prejudiced. My husband has an incurable disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and he cannot work, even though he wishes he could do that and so much more. People don't want to have patience or respect for handicapped people. It makes me upset that you can say, you need to "forgive" them, when they do nothing wrong! God is the only one who does the "forgive"ing, okay? Have you even tried to get to know the guy that "only has fast speed?" Or do you just assume he is that way all the time?
@@mercurythunder3927 Please try not to take offense at people who mean well, just perhaps didn’t word things in the best way. You have a valid point, but your message would be better received if shared kindly.
Definitely, makes me absolutely crazy, when they cover the bottom of everything! Why, the tag could be placed anywhere else. They do it on purpose:) The crazy Lamp Lady would say, it’s a conspiracy..
About the purchase of art... A jeweler's loop is a must. Look at the back before the front for tale tell signs of age. Start there, you will never go wrong.
I have worked in several charity shops and I can tell you that some of the staff have very sad stories. Some have been rescued from social services and once you understand that, you have compassion and do consider their reactions are not always appropriate, but please be nice to them 😌 ps: great work you do, keep your positive attitude
I like Salvation Army b/c they are tax free. Wow! Your Salvation Army is a big store! 😎 Glad you took the owl painting/picture. I would have taken it too. Love the colors on it!
I decided to check you out when you answered my question on CLLs live feed. I love your channel. I love that you tell what things are worth then and there.
D' I am so glad to meet another person who avoid saying certain words. My original language is Spanish and there are some sounds even after 60 y in USA I struggle with. sheep and ship, folk, are some
I had a great time shopping with you, loved the art. Your stores always have nicest pieces, in California, in my area, most of it is junk, or sky high. Can't wait for the next shopping trip, and to be explicit, you did not distract me a bit. Have great day.
your right about her maybe having a bad day, we never know the stories of what others are dealing with BUT, when your filling your cart or even if you weren't, there's no reason to be unreasonable.
I am glad that you leave damaged and poor quality items behind. I have actually unsubscribed to some channels because they source so many damaged items.
Oh those stickers placed over the maker, are what everyone hates ! Sometimes I peel back just enough to see. If it releases at all. I wonder if they have to cover what and where they were sold before given to charity. Maybe that's it. ?? Your nitch must be for critters yup, the cute factor☺️ thanks for sharing.
I hate the stickers also. I wonder if they do that on purpose lol. I also hate when they put those in certain areas on a cardboard or paper item 😠 If i worked there I would know better! lol
The cups that had the fruit on them that you weren't sure what they are used for...Orange Juice. My Mom has the same cups along with a pitcher that matches.
Pb stands for the chemical/scientific reference to lead. O is for one oxygen Atom joined to a lead atom. Oxygen is always O2 with two oxygens joined together but the lead atom has pinched one. Therefore the glass contains 24% lead monoxide. Mono meaning one. A lead atom containing two oxygens is lead dioxide and so forth. FYI O3 is Ozone. 🥸 Aren’t I the smarty pants. 😁 You gave me the opportunity to use my basic Chemistry which I love. All the best from Australia.
Hi there I think that things made for family members end up in Good will when people pass away and kids dont want their stuff back as they have to much of their own lmao
Monkey pod popular in the sixties, received one for wedding present. Mudman fishernan but he is missing his fish, the one that got away. Just say royal wooster. What a good Mom, those mirrors super cute.
You are a very expressive person! I just love your personality!! I am from Montreal but I wish I could come over and thrift with you someday!! Are you a full time reseller? Nancy
When a category is at a low and I can buy it cheap I pick it up and store it for a rainy day. Examples: milk glass, depression glass, only when it is cheap and in great condition.
I agree on the price tags on the bottom of the china. I see a lot of them peeled off, too, which makes it harder if you want to buy it. And now I have to go and google "napkicoasterthingy"...
Hi I'm knew to Your channel and I absolutely love watching your vlogs and your enthusiasm when you find your treasure . You've defiently got a new fan in Me. Xx
Someone else suggested it, but I'll add my support - the blue and clear glass bowl looks like a Bormioli Rocco Murano Blue bowl. I was actually cleaning several of the smaller ones I just bought while watching your video.
I love your videos as much as CLL's!!! You are great fun Dani. Gorgeous and wonderful finds! Loved that you use your head 😂😂😂. That employee SMH. Irritating to say the least. I've had some come right up to me to put something away without an 'excuse me' or the like. Very rude. Thanks again on sharing your trip and knowledge.
Tatting looks more like loops and arcs. If you look closely at the stitches, each stitch looks like two vertical threads with a horizontal thread over them--a lot like little teeny pairs of pants. Each stitch is actually a double-hitch knot.
Wonder what the big bull dog thing was on the shelf about 4.19 min into video; Love the elephant. Piggy bank looks familiar. Some really nice art. Fun trip.
Hey .your sooo fun.! I just caught your channel yesterday .I substituted immediately. My name is mandy ,and you make me wanna go thrift for only personal reasons .but I'm in wa.state and it's still restricted 😞.but love your videos .😁
To be honest thrift stores was made for the less fortunate and they weren't looking for names brands only wanting to have something nice by looks only.... but because of resaler has came in to buy to resale ....it has come to this.....Most good will are Charging $ 600.00 for removing the price tags sorry but this is the truth and that's why the prices has sky rise .
@@lajunecrockett2381 I understand that but it seems to me the money that goodwill or salvation army or whomever it is gets from a less fortunate person will do as much as the same amount of money from a reseller so why should they care where it comes from?
Your slime scream gave me a good laugh! I just found you not long ago and I like your thrifting style. You are one of the few that even looks at plushies, and it doesn't have to be vintage to catch your eye :)
That first vase you said that was made poorly are you sure that isn't recycle glass, I hear fire and Light Glass is very good and it's made on the West coast, or California but the factory shutdown I believe.
That glass bowl with the blue swirl (around the 7:20 mark) looked very similar to a glass I use to hold pens/pencils. Just checked it and it said Bormioli Rocco 27 on the bottom. Googled it and found several examples of my not-so-unique drinking glass 😂 (I think I bought it about 20 years ago from a glass blowers’ shop of all places!) While I didn’t see that bowl specifically, it did look very much like my drinking glass - the texture on the outside is smooth, but not polished, almost like a polished acid wash surface (not satin glass either). Anyway, loved all your finds!

So cool... Fun I just love you
I probably would have told her to back up6 feet or wait till I was done looking before crowding me. I am not as nice as you!
I defiantly pull back the price tag so I can read the mark! Passive aggressive coming out. Lol
I used to collect “kid art” because I felt bad about them being abandoned ☹️
Love the elephant ! ❣️
I am able to remove utensil marks from ceramic mugs using Bon Ami or Bar Keepers friend.
OMG if the Mona Lisa were to be donated.....they would put the freakin price tag right on her face!

I don't like it either when they put tag over mark or when they use tape that takes off paint or staples o. The front of clothes that tears a hole.
covered maker marks make me super crazy
Yes. It makes me crazy. They must do that at Every goodwill in the USA. I am in Louisiana.
The cups that had the fruit on them that you weren't sure what they are used for...Orange Juice. My Mom has the same cups along with a pitcher that matches.

I had a white concrete mixer truck when I was a kid. I've never seen another one and I assume Tonka. I've seen about 3 things my mom had!
Ugh when she said the isle wasn’t that interesting and I just wanted all those porcelain dolls omg 🥺♥️
Blue and clear bowl might possibly be new Pyrex, they came out with a line like that a couple years ago.
The framed lace house is a piece of machine made lace. It's not tatting.
Ahhh ok thank you!

Yes full time as well as running a non profit that teaches disadvantaged women how to sell.

@@lajunecrockett2381 that would be nice. Not sure if they do that nationwide, i have not heard anything about that here in AZ.

Could you please comment about the prices tht are on the items and some idea of what you think you COULD SELL IT FOR.WOULD BE HELPFUL
Prices.on bottoms makes me crazeeeeee too!
Price tags make me crazy AND Jewelry cases with price tags turned down. JUST WHY?
Found another older video I’d missed! Hooray!
The symbolism in the owl art was neat. Wise old owl sitting next to a tree with words...since paper is made from tree's. #wisdomandbooks.
I would take the plate and the cup as you will probably find the matching pieces another time
Love that floral painting you contemplated buying.
I agree with Mandy you are so much fun!!!!
The Spanish pottery says "Rdo de Segovia" -- "Rdo" is a common abbreviation for "recuerdo" or "souvenir" so "Souvenir of Segovia"!
Thanks for taking us with you! I'm training my eye to find restoration hardware-esq pieces and found so many as you were walking the isles lol.
Great job on the art!!!
