Mike, your gamma match will likely show up as inductive if you use an antenna analyzer, which is preventing lower SWR. Most gammas are built with insulated concentric tubing isolating the coax center connection from the gamma tube, forming a variable capacitor with a value determined by the overlap of the tubes. (No DC connection from the coax center through to the antenna element.) Once you get the tap point on the element in the right spot, you can then shorten the inner gamma tube, reducing its capacitance, until it exactly equals and cancels the inductive value of the gamma match. (But some homebrewers build it that way and never get it matched under 2:1 anyway!) An alternate method might be a small variable cap insulated adjustment shaft, or insulated screwdriver, connected between the coax center and the gamma tube. But that will require additional weatherproofing if used outdoors. Thanks for your videos! 73 - AE4KR
Very neat work on the dipole Mike and I like the way you say it's not the "perfect" result. Too often UA-cam videos give the impression that all is fine and dandy at the first attempt. I might well have a crack at one of these ...once I have a shack up and running!
Love 6 meters. We never had it when I was first Licensed.. When we could get NOV's Members of the club formed the white noise listening Society.. we use to meet in the pub in CAM.. .. When its dead its white noise.. when it's active it will blow your Mind.. THE MAGIC BAND
Hi Mike! A great channel growing here 👍 I threw up an inverted-V for 6m just the other week by adding elements to my 20m (got a 40-10 EFHW too but still missing 80m). The 6m band is peculiar! I have some time this next week so likely to be found somewhere on the dial. Subscribed! De 2E0RYD (must get my M0 finished!) 🤘
6m is worth persevering with. Quite often its quiet, but it lights up like a Christmas tree when you have Es. Look out for the RSGB contests on 6m for more local contacts.
Hi Mike, I like the video. I get frustrated when there’s more waffle than detail but you’ve got it right! I’ve just built a 6m half wave dipole myself but apart from the beacon I’ve not heard anyone on 6 metres, where are you based? I’m in Chester! God bless, Bill G6ATO
Hi just wondering what the advantage of using a gamma match over a normal dipole ? 6 m is a interesting band I worked Canada from uk yesterday on ssb using 50w and a 2 element yagi at 20 ft , cheers de 2e0nbk
Wind your coax at the aerial feed point about 5 loops in a small circle .. try it with 4 loops or 6 .. it might just bring your SWR down.. or make an aluminium 1/4 stub and put it over the coax close to the aerial feedl..

"Wang it up to the top of the band", might have to explain that one Mike, not heard the term "Wang" for quite a while. Not sure if it comes from the "welly wanging". Anyway enjoying the antenna builds, good job 👏.
just watched your video and had to point out your gamma match is wrong you have a jumper from the outer of your gamma tube and not the inner rod so you have a t match you are noi using the Capacitance at all thats why your swr is not 1:1 simpley move your jumper to the inner rod and make you outer tube smaller move the rod in or out to get min swr dont forget there must be an insulator inbetween the rod and tube best is teflon for high power 1kw plus
Always experimenting? That's good, nothing like it, you never know when you will find something that works well. 6mtrs is not a band I am familiar with. I was going to have a go at building an antenna for 11mtrs, but I am told I am not allowed a mast up, funny, they made me put u a mast for Sky TV? Where's the difference?
6m must be for when you want to have a Star Wars moment.....it sounds like a battle for dominance between heterodyne's. Maybe don't point the thing at Mos Eisley.

Great info Thanks 👍

Hi ya Ken
lovely to see some home brew antennas hopeful when the bands pick up you can give them a good test. 73's
Fingers crossed!
very neat work and very simple job
Nice build Mike! Maybe you want to try a lambda loop also fed with a J-feed. I made some interesting experience with that on higher frequencies.

Hi Paul, great to have you onboard, Yes come on get that M0. see ya on 6
Hello
I cannot understand the differents lenght for the T2LT antenna
hi, i saw that you finally lengthened it, what about making it longer and cutting it down to perfect resonance? thanks a hug.
Regular diepole math formula I use is 468 div by the frq what math formula youse for the gama match and what math formula for the long element

Another great video Mike.
Your Mrs must love you using the kitchen worktop for your project building! LOL
Cheers Paul, Will have to look you up when next back in the home town.. :)

So euh....what was the .667 beacon signal on the second antenna ?
Video just cut off before that.
yep believe so.
Another good lockdown project ticked off, shame the band was so dead so you couldn’t enjoy the fruits of your labour more. Thanks Mike

Thanks for the contact, Mike...you're 5/9...5 and 9 here in Central Ohio. QSL?
Belle réalisation avec un vrai balun

Soldering and antenna building in the kitchen would drive 99% of women crazy...
Nice!!!
Yep I have the Coolest wife every..🇫🇷
I’ll have to try and disprove this claim just for the hell of it :D
Need a 6m antenna for a Yaesu FT-690R I just bid home, but I need a portable one.
Luv the gumboot vice.... :)
what is that kenwood aparatus u have called exacly? how do i find exact one? i LOVE IT !

What is the space length between the elements. I missed that. Thanks
8cm if I remember..

Devon lad is I .. lol
iam not allowed on the 6 meter band with my licence 😥😭
time for your next licence
Isn’t a half wavelength on 6 meters closer to 285 cm. than 178?
Typo Should have been 278cm. :)
C très bien
BONJOUR
What were those signals when scanning through at the end? Just local RFI noise?
local noise.. :(
How are you getting a SWR reading by pressing Transmit? With no audio surely there's no output?
FM or CW Andy 🤪
Mike-M0MSN yea I see it now! I programmed the PF A button to tx with a carrier at 5W for tuning and measurement purposes.
Just watched it again. VFOA. FMN
Strange band, can I ask where you got the yellow grp tube from? Thanks for your great efforts, carl.

Just what I needed 👍
Maybe next time try 6M USB instead of LSB👍👍
i move to city few days ago, so i will probably build one soon
18th pipe is for cot reall or Waldron real thank Mike
Wait for sunspot high and the band will be alive

Bands been poor here, hopefully it will pick up soon
6m is the ghost band.
yes, however when it's up it's up.

Have to have a go soon! maybe for 2m
