BTW, here is that poem about why Drake keeps buying unnecessary things:
Once, Drake went on a spree,
Buying things he didn't need,
Filling up his shopping cart,
With stuff that just took up space.
He bought a pair of golden shoes, And a diamond-encrusted hat,
A solid gold toothpick, too, And a carpet made of rat.
He even bought a tiny boat,
To sail upon his sink,
And a pet raccoon to float, In a bowl of lemonade, pink.
But as the day came to an end, And Drake looked at all he'd bought,
He realized with a sinking heart, That he'd spent a fortune for naught.
For all his fancy, shiny things,
Brought him no joy or satisfaction, And he was left with just one wish,
To go back and make a different transaction.
Why am I crying? So moving…
I relate with drake too much
Hint: You actually need a way to PULL down the doorknob. That door you tested it on was just hanging there. If you did account for this, how did you get it to work?
"a carpet made of rat" is art lol
Omg I thee wed! 👌😘👏💖🌹
Hint: You actually need a way to PULL down the doorknob. That door you tested it on was just hanging there. If you did account for this, how did you get it to work?
Hmm, that seems awfully necessary
For a handle type door knob you could just slide the Suction Saver down against it before suctioning it against the door. For an actual door knob maybe you could suction it right onto the knob itself and turn? Dunno how well the suction cup would handle the rotational force but.. it could work
The ai said "suction cup" I think
What if the door was locked right??
Some public places don't have latches.
I’ve always thought this channel was less of “Unnecessary inventions” and more of “inventions you never thought you’d need but now you literally can’t live without”
I’m thinking he called his inventions unnecessary because they may not change the world.
Edit: Grammar fixes
Perfect rewording.
This thing already exists
But it's something that sticks out of the bottom corn of a door, you step on, and pull back (it has a bit of a hook to prevent slipping)
Saw it when the pandemic was in full swing.
Never saw it in real life.
@@matthewboyd8689 how does that concern my comment?
@@Anonymous-73 he thought you really wanted this device from your comment, so he suggested you a similar device
Y’know what’s even crazier? You could’ve asked ChatGPT to describe the invention to a art AI and ChatGPT would do it.
yeah and then just plug that into dalle and get a better render
@@justhaider6300 that’s literally what they said
@rBaseless No, OP was explicitly recommending the usage of ChatGPT, this kind individual suggested that you could take it a step further by rendering that image prompt within DALL-E to get a better render. Keep your ignorant, rude, and incorrect thoughts to yourself.
@@TheBomb420 describing it to an art ai = dall e
@@rBaseless no, we’re collectively saying that you can use an AI to create an idea. Since the AI created the idea, it also has the best grasp on the idea. ChatGPT has the ability to describe what it’s thinking if you ask it. If you frame your prompt into a request for a Dall•E prompt, ChatGPT will do so. No need to imagine what ChatGPT is imagining when it can just tell you.
This guy is a legend! Using a trackpad to build CAD models!
I was thinking the same thing when i saw him designing on Fusion 360. I see all these FB groups where people say they can't live without a space mouse, they haven't seen this guy
@@SLICEDfinds Well…. I will give them this: Once you use a spacemouse once, it is incredibly difficult to 3D model any other way. It almost physically hurts to just have your left hand lying there useless.
Your inventions are becoming increasingly more useful. Don't stop making them!
Stop equating usefulness with necessity.
Your*.
basic pathetic comment
How is being afraid of germs necessary or useful? We have an immune system for a reason.
“You are inventions” 😐
I used AI to create a cover letter and this is a great demonstration. I think AI will really be a tool to spark creativity. It is much easier to get moving on something when you already have a basic idea to start from and AI accels at that. Just having something on the page helps a lot then you can change stuff up and modify it to makes sense. Using tools like these has already saved me many hours and I can't wait to see them improve. If you modify the work and then reupload it to show the AI the final result I think the AI could eventually be trained to create fully usable works in seconds but still might require a final review.
I created a cover letter today using text based AI for the first time. Wild stuff. Cant wait to see what else i can do with it.
Hey Matty. I have a really cool unnecessary invention. I always brush my hair in the shower with a brush. Maybe you can create a shower head with brush bristles that detaches so you can do both at once. I watch your series where you take problems/ideas and make them into an invention. This is an invention you can put on that series if you'd like. Thanks
Only thing is if door was fully closed you would have to touch the doorknob to unlatch it
You should build a doggy door for toddlers and babies to crawl through. Like if you had a designated baby proofed play room they can just crawl through the flap in the door so they won't need someone to open the door for them
Then just buy an xl dog door lol
@@918Kustomz Oh yeah prob 😂
If you want them to be able to come and go why not just leave the door open? I feel like you're defeating the purpose of the door lol
But how would you open the door without turning the handle? Just pulling on it won't work...
Just ask AI
Put it on the door nobody
Great invention, but how do you turn handles?
what happens when you have to TWIST a doorknob?
I have seen something similar, basically it was for people with disabilties, had a hook for door handles, and suction cup end for pulling doors if the handle was too high for someone wheelchair bound
Invention idea: The Sneeze Sucker. Essentially a vacuum that when your about to sneeze you turn it on, sneeze into the vacuum so that your germs don't go into the air
How the hell are you supposed to open a door with that lol
@@ProjaredPlay frig ya bud
Lol, love it! Thing is, doorknobs are, in most cases, stainless steel, which will only sustain germs for a limited period of time. The printed doorknob is a provenly porous, rough surface, prone to collecting and _encouraging_ the growth of germs.
@@amandak.4246 Sure. Brass is a zinc copper alloy, and copper is even better than stainless at killing microbes.
how long is the "limited period of time"?
@@nguyenvu8262 I honestly don't know. Way less time than printed alternatives, though, which can sustain microbes indefinitely.
@@Corbald however long period of time is definitely shorter than indefinitely. But practically, any period more than 12h would mean that the door knob is bacteria-reinforced everyday except weekend. Any period more than 48h would mean that normal usage door knob would never be bacteria free.
@@nguyenvu8262 Good point, however, it seems to me that I'd much rather be in contact with something which is actively killing microbes, than something which is culturing them! If one considers the 'Infectious Dose' of microbes required to actually hurt someone, then it seems like the slow kill-off will help prevent that dose from being reached.
This seems to only work if the door is already open, not when its closed. the suction is 2 big to work on a handle. Wouldn't literally a silicon mold of like a bike handle be simpler and also more effective since suctions don't work on all materials? You could thread it over the handle, squeeze it and open it without touching it. Then you just need to wring it opposite way and put it in the dishwasher, easy. Simple and practical.
Matt I enjoy each and every one of your videos! This is one of the only Channels that I am subscribed to (with the bell on) to make sure I know right when a new video is out! You should do a video where you do use Chat GPT to write the whole script. Don’t tell us that you used it, and see if people can guess that you didn’t write it.
Love when mustache man posts new videos. I love engineering and these are the ultimate engineering videos. Minus that one dude that makes crazy inventions like a basketball hoop you can't miss his shit is pretty amazing as well.
So you forgot how doors actually work and how you need to pull down the handle??
but how are u supused to turn the handle when its closed?
Awesome video as always!
Just a friendly reminder to make sure you stay hydrated and take care of yourself! You are important to a lot of people.
You're teaching robots about our weaknesses to help further their knowledge of how to take us down
Your honestly the cutest!!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 😍😘
Thanks for all your hard work
I need this in my life. People don't always wash there hands, yet of course people always touch the public bathroom door handle.
Again, how does your prints come out literally perfect, every single other creator I've seen or watch ALWAYS has to do so much sanding.
They aint perfect, look at 6:27 there is sliiiight wobble and also the typical layer seam, but its quite good because he properly designed the parts
Also it depends on the material, PLA comes out super nice all the time, stuff like PETG pulls strings all over the place etc..
Most stuff doesnt need to be sanded if you just accept that it has a different aesthetic than injection molded parts
Bambu labs x1 carbon, that's how.
@@zayanarshad88
Not necessarily for that result
Yeah I guess so but the bambu labs x1 carbon is really smooth
What happens when you have to turn the door handle
Also, make the base around the suction a retractable claw and add a small motor to it if it’ll be that large to mechanize the whole process.
You must already know this, but you are amazing. How do you keep topping each of your previous videos?! Too good!!
But how do you turn the knob if it’s latched shut?
"No Grip Grabber" would have been better. Humans 1- Machines 0.
It's almost like he forgot doors had handles midway through the video.
Hi I love your video so much I was wondering if you could do a video using tinker cad like making unnecessary inventions with tinkercad or making some old inventions
“Robots have taken over the Navy!”
“NOT THE NAVY.”
You know it’s an unnecessary invention when I came up with a solution in the first 3 seconds.
The close up of his finger bleeding from anxiety was too relatable
Loved this video and how you used IA, I totally agree with this view
4:24 the astronaut picture one is hilarious!!!
This isn’t useless at all! I want it. Imagine putting an rfid chip in to manage access rights. The security doors in our office wouldn’t need handles anymore. Awesome
love the concept of this video
Being a legitimate inventor in the modern world has got to be one of the coolest things!!!
These. Videos make me laugh love ur videos 📹💓
We’re imagining it’s not a door with a twisty handle right?
Sanitizer at door handles often used by public, sanitize before opening door ( public has option to bypass it)/ while pressing or squeezing your hands are sanitized (no bypassing option).
I think the most impressive of all in this video is you using a trackpad to do CAD...
me wondering why he has so many rainbow straws🤔7:17
Now it looks like you're caring a flashlight on a keychain
This invention was highly necessary 2 years ago, tbh.
Also this is really good because I can see it working on handles too, since it's sticky.
Plus the Suction Saver only works for push or pull doors, not for doors that have doorknobs you have to turn.
Sooo sick. Heck yah man.🎉
He should make a bacteria backpack- a germaphobes public disgust kit
This was a surprisingly good video about how to be optimistic about the AI progress, its place and its limitations...
If only gloves existed 🤦🏾♂️😂😂
How do you use that to open that weird north american doorknob? It could also be stuck to a handle like the one you have and you can open the door. But I don't imagine it being so easy if it doesn't have a straight side.
The only thing your missing that would make this better is a standard diffusion model based on GPT-3 called Point-E. It can output 3D models!
Use it for help writing Python scripts. Useless for writing lengthy scripts but a big help for approximately 12 or 15 lines of source code, or less.
Many inventions that seem unnecessary at first can end up becoming integral parts of our daily lives.
I think u could make it smaller as pocket size and alot stronger with the suction cup turn into a small 3 prong grabber so it can turn the door knobs... thats to big and while walking is gonna swing side to side..
Make a toilet paper winder/unwinder to help you unwind from a new roll to a finished one.
Awesome vid bro! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
but if the door has a handle, how you gonna open the door if its already shut, or is it only for open doors?
Make a vention for can help you organize your room like your stuff
add a notch to grab and move the handle down and out of the way before attaching the suction cup.
It's a cool idea assuming the door does not have a handle, if it does you will still need to come up with another invention to turn the handle.
pls make more vids like this!
We gotta get Matty to 5 Million Subs cause he just makes these inventions for these awesome vids
One thing that would make the invention even better would be a toggle suction cup. I don't even know if those exsist.
Bro if that door was shut it wouldn’t open
For some of your more simple inventions you should release models of them for people to 3d print!
You need to have a toy store like Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium....a fun interactive kids toy store that is absolutely magical......please fir all the kuds out there....dont let them down!
I hate touching bathroom handles so when I finish washing my hands, I take an extra paper towel to open the door
Just make up a sort of stuff which works according to the AI. Alexa OR Google Assistant.
Like we have a option to dim the lights if we say to the bot then it does. like that if we say open the door then the door opens automatically without touching like in the case of dimming the lights.
i hope you make something like this in future.
Love the use of OpenAI chatbot. It's a pretty good tool, but shallow. When you ask it deep questions it can't replace someone as talented as your human imagination. You will still win over a bot any time! We know because we use AI in our patent generation software, it's just a way to amplify your thought, but will always need the creative human to guide it. That is how we cut the cost of patenting is to rely on AI to accelerate human work
You can do this same action with your foot btw. Need a way to pull door handle itself.
Do more of these
6:46 💀💀💀💀💀 "in and out"💀💀💀💀💀
What if the doors closed? Doesn’t look like it could grab a door HANDLE at all.
What a time to live in! Not only we have access to the entire information ever available to mankind, but also tools to study them and provide actual usable knowledge when you just cant do it on your own.
Invention idea...a portable dishwasher for a camping trip but is verly light and not electronic
They do make and sell door opening tools, some on amazon
Kinda neat but also I don't think it's really useful unless the door has no closing mechanism 😂
I give my best to make neccessary inventions, but I love your world and now watching futur, nice💪😎👌
6:48 you can actually get chatgpt to write you OpenSCAD scripts to model it. I think though you’d spend too much time trying to get what you need and would be quicker doing it yourself in CAD.
I tried this just now and it's not great at it, but would of been super cool to see in the video.
Watching you designing the 3D using the trackpad and no mouse causes me physical pain.
The thumbnail made me hungry for some reason LOL
Have to turn handles on most doors and if your phone or anything you touch isn't clean, the suction saver just gets a ton of germs on it when you use it. lol
I wanted to try so i gave it the prompt "create 20 new invention ideas for the UA-cam channel "unnecessary inventions"' then make a video title for each invention"
these are some of the alright ones
"The Self-Stirring Soup Pot!"
"Introducing the Automatic Toothpaste Squeezer!"
"Introducing the Self-Spreading Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Maker"
"The Revolutionary Remote-Controlled Ice Cream Scoop"
"Hands-Free Toothpaste Dispensing: The Future is Now"
"Effortlessly Organize Your Ties with the Motorized Tie Rack"
"The Self-Tying Shoelace System: Convenient and Futuristic"
"Laundry Folding Just Got Easier with Our Robot Assistant"
I saw the uh Ikea receipt in the back you think you can make a Target receipt rug or mat.
Only works if the handle is already used to open the door but the door needs to be pushed. Fun looking project though.
Man straight up made a heist tool for toddlers who can't open doors yet 😅
Love your color choices for prints and around the studio! 🇺🇦
I tried put this ai art website I think it was called like mage or something but don't use it ever because of the hands and faces
SO COOL LOVE THE INVENTION
Proceeds to not even touch the door handle.
This is perfect for opening doors without handles, or closing open doors.
I use my foot when I don't want to touch a doorknob.
can you make windshield wipers for glasses?
might wanna get a band-aid for that bloody finger
It also acts as an oversized mace to beat the zombie horde in your germy world apocalypse.
