Couple adds for base updating to scoops: you’ll need to drill and add screws. On the outer cover there are 3 “pads” that seem to match your video. I used #10 x 5/8” long screws, a bit shorter would be better. Tool-wise, a combo 1/4” and hex bit ratchet is good for small spaces like between tire and wheel well. This was a really great guide to work from. Thx for the video.😅
Daniel, your UA-cam channel dedicated to DIY projects on the Porsche Cayman 718 is truly exceptional. Your ability to explain intricate details with clarity and precision sets your content apart as the best on the internet. I want you to know that I genuinely appreciate the effort you put into your videos. I'll definitely be giving you thumbs up and eagerly anticipating more of your informative and engaging content. Keep up the fantastic work!
Great video: I look forward to the front bumper removal video. Quick tip: Draw a line on your painters tape between the two panels so when you put it back on, you can line it up perfectly and make sure your panel gap is the same.
Can you do a video on removing the front spoiler lip and the lip side trim(s)? I'd imagine this will be a common DIY. I was parked on a grassy hill and when I backed off of it it caught my front lip and pulled it out (cracking it and breaking a tab on the side trim too). So I'm replacing all 3 pieces. Thanks!!!
What an excellent series of videos - really clear, well structured, right pace and fully informative if you want to do these jobs yourself. Even if I don't do the jobs myself it is very useful to see how the trim on these cars actually fits and what goes on behind the plastic! A question for you - on power-fold mirrors. My 718 Spyder (pre-owned) does not have the power fold option and I am wondering how easy it might be to add this capability. Obviously I will need some motors to go inside the mirror housing (or replacement mirrors?) but what about the wiring harness? Is the harness the same, with an unused spur for the motors and the door switch? Or is it a different wiring harness altogether? Any suggestions/ideas gratefully received!
Hey there thanks for watching! I wish I knew more about the power mirrors but here’s what I learned from a completely different car: Mirrors can be swapped but need a new switch panel and associated wiring. That may or may not apply to the Porsche. For automatic folding it may require programming with a PIWIS and maybe even another module. I would search Rennlist for 991 owners who might have tried! It would be a mod I would like too!
seems removing the door sill is an un--needed step. please explain why exactly you remove those little clips? the white plastic pillars that the big underside plastic screw looking things fit into will do so without messing from the top?
Question, does the rocker panel have any adjustment, left to right? I’ve seen a 718 where the front edge was about 3-5mm back from being aligned to the wing arch. Wondering if this can be adjusted to align.
Hmm…. Maybe?? But I didn’t try hard to align it so I can’t imagine the front and rear screw having much leeway. If you feel like it, pull one of those screws and see how much of a “slot” is there for possible reposition? The clips at the forward section wouldn’t leave much room either.
Looking to remove the lighted doorsills on my GT4RS. Can you confirm these just pull off as well? I’d like to change the current yellow sill color to another color if possible?
The sills attach the same way but you will have a wire running from it. I haven’t seen exactly how it goes but it runs into the cabin under the carpet. Depending on how far in the connector is you may have to pop up the threshold trim and lift the carpet.
I don’t know for sure but I would expect so. You really need to look closely at images. The 718 may have differences primarily at the scoop inlet. Also body lines may not match up at the rear quarter but I haven’t looked close enough

Thanks for the extra info!

Thanks for the very nice comment! I have quite a few years of teaching people how to fly airplanes, so along the way you learn that details matter!
I second every word that sagarrett wrote. Thanks Danial for doing this for the Porsche community!

Good tip! Thanks
Found you on the 718 Forum and now subscribed!! Thanks for the side scoop! I just bought some
Rear trim disassembly for filter change or engine access would be great
I’ll be doing BMC filters sometime soon. A Lot of trunk disassembly is covered in my Track Nanny install video.
Adding scoops to my GTS and this is exactly what I needed, thanks heaps
Such a great video. I like the quick overview for those who have a vauge idea and the detailed for more handholding approach.
Subscribed. Looking forward to learning from your series of Cayman-Boxster content.
Planning to add some mesh on my GT4 scoops. Thanks for your excellent video that'll help me and other folks a LOT! Oh and I subscribed ;)
From what I understand you can probably get it done just by pulling away the rocker behind the door. However please protect your paint and good luck!
Nice Job, that's a sweet custom add - On, definitely a more sporty look. 👍💫📸
Great descriptions.
Many thanks
Can you please make a video on how to take off the A pillar on a bixster please

I intend to, I have all the plastics for the front. The replaceable front splitter is fairly easy and there are videos out there already.

If I recall properly the rocker is fasted to the door sill and underneath.
Maybe I took it off unnecessarily?
I’ll have to double check

Daniel, great video. Very informative. Nice shirt too. Would you mind to share where did you get the GT4 shirt? Keep up the good work.👍🏻
Thanks! I got it on eBay, I’m guessing it’s not officially licensed and may come and go in availability.
Can you swap GT4 rocker panel to Cayman Base or Cayman S? Either it's 981 gen or 718 gen

@@JetFuelOnly How about 981, can anyone easily swap the GT4 rocker panel to 981 Cayman base/S/GTS?
@mantabjaya27 don’t know for sure but that is very likely. I’m sure someone has done it.
Where did you get your T shirt? Gotta have it!
I think I found it on eBay. It’s not licensed so I’m betting it comes and goes as Porsche reports it.
Thanks! Porsche REALLY needs to make that one!@@JetFuelOnly
