Dave. I can't thank you enough for sharing this fly. I've had loads of fish on it since I tied it quite a while ago now after watching your video. It nailed a 5lb fish for me this afternoon. Thanks a lot.
Gave up comp. fishing years ago, was at the pier at L. Leven and there was anglers rods in rod racks, every rod had their casts tied on and every fly was wrapped in tinfoil, I said so much for camaraderie among anglers, left a sour taste in my mouth and never entered any club competitions again after that.
Dude, you just keep doing what you do. The arses in the world are always in the world. We can’t change that. Another great tie dude. I like it. Keep safe.
Davie that's why I rapped the comp scene mate !! Way too many car park leader back stabbers with egos only in it for themselves!! I'd challenge any of them a day at the stockies then a day at the wild fishing just to see how good they really are!! So keep the flies coming and the stories mate 👍👍😉😉🦈🦈
Nice vid Dave. I'm gonna have a go at tying this pattern. Not my usual style as I usually like to concentrate on Trad wets and the likes. But during this lockdown I've been doing a bit of thinking and gonna change my approach with the odd pattern like this! Cheers for uploading!
Great wee fly, out of curiosity which version did the young ones use or which one do you find best? Black, red or the fire orange head? Keep them coming!
Hey Dave. This fly caught a couple nice ones for me today in Colorado, USA. I am just getting into the "loch style" fly fishing with a drogue. It's challenging but fun. I was fishing this as the point fly on a midge tip with three flies spaced 5 feet apart. However, after the sun came out the bite turned off. The lake I was fishing maxes out at 10 feet. If a lake is that shallow would you ever need to fish a heavier line than a fast glass? I considered putting on a type 3, but the wind was up pretty good. Do really heavy lines like types 3 and 5 make sense in really shallow lakes? I"d have to retrieve the line so fast so I wouldn't drift over it. Any thoughts?
I will be giving this 1 a go with some of ur spring water blue that i got from u awhile ago very nice stuff there is an old saying ere tell the truth and shame the devil

Which lines do you prefer when fishing this fly? Do you think it performs better as the point fly or in a dropper position?
