Easiest Renault Megane 2 headlight bulb replacement

  • If I can replace the headlight light bulb without any experience, you can do it too, check the video how to do it by not using anything else than your hands, cell phone and knife. You don't need any special tools to do it! Don't need to open any screws or bolts, just a few hand tightened caps and that is it!
    This may not be the easiest fix, but if you will watch my video you will be able to do this fix within 5 minutes. By the way cell phone camera maybe the most useful tool for this job!

    Thank you for this, it’s interesting reading other comments about the bulb life, as mine always seem to be breaking, I have even used Osram nightbreakers, and the only seem to last about one year! Another tip is to jack the car up so the wheel is just off the ground. The extra space from suspension travel makes it easier to get hands into the wheel arch.

    Nice video. Glad the headlights have a screw cap rather than that nasty rubber push thing. It's a bitch to put that back on.
    Fyi, avoid touching the glass of a halogen capsule. It can cause premature failure by hot spot damage.

    Thanks, I've done this procedure a few times but it's been a long time and I forgot about the tabs. In fact, it's possible to grab the terminals with your hand and push in the direction of the tab to pop one side out, which is easier when you can't see what you're doing.

    I have 2008/9 Megane Sedan in this same color,and same problem with light,but I will take him to my mechanic,my hands are too big,plus I have problem with that smaller light at the same spot,recently chanched bulb and it worked for 3-4 days before it went out.
    I noticed it was shining a lot brighter than it should be before it went out.

    I'd love to know the name of the chief designer responsible for this useless design.
    On most cars it's easy access from engine bay less than a minute to do, and no cuts/scratches/grazes.
    On the bloody Mégane, if you've got large hands/arms you cannot even fit your hand through the access hole.
    You have to jack the car up, take off the wheel and wheel arch liner to get to the bulbs!!!

    • @JUrtanschannel
      @JUrtanschannel  5 років тому

      :D when u ll do it third time, (they burn out quickly even when you use gloves and dont touch the glass of the bulb), you ll can do it in 3 mins, even with closed eyes, but totally agree, kind a bad design, but could be even worse :D

    What kind of bulbs are good for this? type h7? can you recomend something good?

    • @JUrtanschannel
      @JUrtanschannel  5 років тому

      yes, you are right H7, 12V 55W, I am using Osram long life light bulbs, but you can try other brands too, however I m not sure if they ll be better.. make sure you avoid some sort of magical bulbs with a lot of promises from ebay etc, without a brand, bcos they tend to be not too good in all ways.. +if you want to extend a little bit light bulb lifetime, make sure you clean bulb glass well if you have touch it without gloves on ur hands, but that is about it.. to be honest those lightbulbs tend to burn out quick, at least once per 2 years so if you will have done this once by yourself, next time it will be a lot easier to do and for sure you will need to do it sooner or later :)

    I used a screwdriver 🪛 tip. A screwdriver that is about 7cm/3inch and a camera from a phone with a flashlight because you can't get you head in there with 2.3x zoom to see clearly what your doing.

  • @Subgunman
    @Subgunman 3 роки тому +1

    You made a major mistake by touching the glass with your fingers. It leaves a fil of skin oil on the quarts glass that will overheat and cause the bulb to fail. When replacing halogen bulbs handle them only by the metal base. If you touch he glass you will need to clean it with isopropyl alcahol To remove any oils. Use a clean cotton cloth to clean the glass.

    • @JUrtanschannel
      @JUrtanschannel  7 років тому

      That is way I made this video bcos in the beginning I thought the bulb is hold in the place by that spring and I couldn't find it where it should be and only after some unsuccessful blind tries I understood that there are two different holding mechanics for the same car!

    • @JUrtanschannel
      @JUrtanschannel  5 років тому

      Make sure you have pushed it completlely back in, because if it is not the beam wont be correct. Other possibility is that light bulb it self is bad quality, ive seen this, once ordered from ebay some sort of extra bright one and it was impossible to get the light beam right.. worst case scenario, u have pushed the light bulb too hard and have moved the socket...
