- Spinal Stenosis can cause pain, numbness, muscle weakness, and other issues. Here are some seated stretches and exercises that can help relieve the pain caused by Spinal Stenosis. Buy a worksheet with these seated stretches & exercises: www.askdoctorjo.com/purchase-...
What is Spinal Stenosis? Spinal Stenosis is basically when the space where the nerves come out of the spine start to narrow. This can put pressure on the spinal cord and the peripheral nerves that go out to the body. The pressure on the nerves can cause the pain and numbness mentioned earlier. These stretches and exercises might help for the low back area.
A seated pelvic tilt is a great exercise and a stretch. It does a great job of loosening up the area and warming up the muscles.
A seated rolldown and a seated trunk rotation help stretch the spine in different directions to help open up the spaces in the spine.
Finally, a seated hip flexor stretch and seated figure 4 stretch help relax the muscles in the hip and pelvic area that might be putting pressure on the spine. Getting these areas more flexible should help relieve the pain.

De nada.
have pulled my lower back on the right side, what do you recommend?
Doctor , I suffered lower back slipped disc 20 year back, when I experience jerk in car driving, I have radiating pain which go away in 2 days but that occur more often
I have pelvic Tilt issue so my L5 S1 joint space reduce and nerve pinch and it affected my left leg. So Dr can you tell me electro therapy or exercise which one is more effective in physiotherapy
Thanks for the advice, the roll is much safer option to the jefferson curl which i connot believe some people on youtube are advocating to do with weights, unbelievable if they dont have back problems now they soon will have lifting weights like that.I also like the figure 4 i can really feel that stretch. I find these to be great for pain relief
You're welcome.

Hi Dr. Jo
I have a labral tear in my right hip with mild osteoarthritis. I will be starting pt before I consider surgery or cortisone. My doctor said if pt/activity modification doesn't work I can try PRP injections. Have any of your patients had success with PRP for labral tears? It's very expensive and not covered by insurance and from what I've read online the success rate for PRP is not great but it really helps some people.
Unfortunately, it really is a toss up, like you read. There's really no way to know if it's going to help or not. I've had some patient's say it really helped, but others said it didn't help at all. Hopefully PT will help.
@@AskDoctorJo Thanks for the reply Dr. Jo. I love your channel
Hii doctor jo, I am a very big fan of you. Whenever I have any pain directly come to your channel and try that strech pain will disappear like a magic.
Now my question is this all spinal stenosis streches shall I do it like normal strech like lying down pelvic tilt, lying down figure four, kneeling hip flexor.
Please advise
Thanks. Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
@@AskDoctorJo thanks for your quick reply.
I mean now this video you make it every streches in sitting position right.
Same streches in many variations you did in another video. So shall I do another variations in same spinal stenosis streches.
Unfortunately, I don't know that answer since I can't evaluate you. Everyone is different. If there is any way you can see a physical therapist in person, they should be able to help you figure out a specific program for you and help answer your questions.
