    I hand-raised six ISA Browns from chicks this year, and you are absolutely right, they are the friendliest chickens we've ever had, and we get five to six eggs a day from them. It is sad that they don't have longer life spans; I've really bonded with them.

    My ISA Brown is named Olive. My husband got her for me for Mother’s Day probably 3 years ago. She is amazing. She lays ginormous eggs! And pretty much an egg a day. She is very sweet and very curious girl, we just expanded our coop and are going to be getting a few more ISA browns because they are amazing.

    They are amazing. So sweet, hardy and lay so many eggs! We have 9 retired battery hens and enjoy letting them range and live the good life.

    We have 3 and they quickly became our favorites. They’re top of the pecking order, but they’re also the sweetest with people. They also lay well year round.

    I have 40 Isa browns on our small farm and what you stated is correct. They are the best laying hen I've ever had. They are great layers of extra large brown eggs. Very consistent.

    I have two isa browns and thay are super friendley and very dosile loveing hens thay always run up to me when thay see me making a very happy humming sound simultaneously thay loved to be stroked and picked up for a cuddle but when it cums to picking them up thay like ferm but gentle grip with your hands over there wings holding them between your arms and cest to make them feel secure thay love attention if you pick them up without a ferm grip over there wings thay will flap and end up getting a wing in your face that feel like being slapped with a wet flannel there wings are very strong so picking them up with a ferm grip around there wings makes them feel safe and secure and thay are the best egg layers, but thay love there food thay are very big eaters thay love hotdogs and bananas with there layer pellet food thay do have very big appetites but i love to spoil them thay are chickens with big hearts and big personalities

    We rescued 16 hens from an egg farm. Some of them have warmed up to us and are very sweet. We are working with them to try and get their feathers back. They were pretty sparse and nakey.
    They have been really good for our kids though. (Affectionate and sweet for the most part)

    We got duped into buying these hybrid hens that aged out of a commercial farm from a crooked farmer who said they were 11 months old. We only figured it out when they weren't laying what they should be laying, and they looked horrible like they were going through a severe molt where most of their neck feathers were missing, and we noticed their beaks were clipped. I can only imagine the horrors on these egg-laying farms. At least they have a good home with us to live out the rest of their life.

    The birds in this video look like we call Golden Comets. I have seven total, three I got in September 2022, the other four about 8 weeks ago.
    The three I got last years nearly never miss a day laying eggs...in the last two months there has only been 3 day that I only got two eggs from them for the day.
    Two of my little ladies I've taught to fly up on my forearm to eat snacks. Princess and Little Red fly up on command. For some reason I can't get Lacy to do it. Little Red will sit on my forearm and left me pet her after the snacks are gone!
    I also have a Easter Egger that is 6 weeks old and she will fly up into my hand to get a snack!

    My ISA Brown hens rarely miss a day in presenting an egg. They are friendly and funny. However, trying to introduce an equal number of golden comet pullets just one year younger has been brutal. They want nothing to do with the new ones and don’t want to share anything. We will have to make a separate coop and pen for the new hens.

    • @billbarnes9718
      @billbarnes9718 4 місяці тому

      I know this is an old post. Yes, you need to keep them separate until they get to know each other. Ideally, in an ajoining coop, then put them together.

    Which is the best hatchery to order ISA Brown? My uncle in KS has 6 ISA's, and diligently records daily, and states that they all gave 361 eggs a year! One thing he does is also feed some sprouted triticale daily.
