- I was bored and was playing around with the image upscaler realesrgan and decided to try and use it on the Freelancer opening cinematic. It turned out quite good, so I decided to upload it to UA-cam.

I have to admit, another game set in this universe would be pretty awesome. I wonder what happened on Earth after all this time? Was the tyranny of the Coalition ever overthrown? Do other colonies of humanity exist somewhere in deep space?
The solar system was destroyed by the nomads as seen in the full length teaser intro.
@@calyptomenaviridis That depends which version you assume as canon. The one that shipped with the game never had the Nomad ending

wow that was a badass animation and story.
And then they immediately forgot the whole hispania plot and just had space aliens. Such a good game back then in the 2000s and then again during covid when I picked it up with the Discovery mod.

True Hispania was destroyed but it made out of that conflict, if I remember correct you can find it's wreck in the game.
@@CatinkonttiHispania was not destroyed, it was sabotaged, Corsair and Outcast where people from Hispania, you can find the Hispania in Omicron Alpha, home of the Outcast

after all this time, I still don't get why the coalition didn't pursue the alliance into the sirius system.. but yeah good memories of this game omg! and online multiplayer as well hehe
In the original version, after the colonists left, nomads arrived and destroyed the entire system

Technically they launched 7 sleeper shops, but 2 didn't make it past the blockade
what names the 2 had and where they come from then? I think one might be from China and other from India/Russia. Although these nations might rather be part of Coalition.
@@AlexisAntilope Italian and French sleeper ships were destroyed iirc (alliance is main NATO nations). The Hispania was also alledgedly overloaded with stranded refugees from other nations which led to sabotage by infiltrators.

@@Darkcerve Sure I read that the Bertonia was also damaged hence why it was the last of the sleeper ships to arrive as one of it's engines was damaged
