I own my R53 GP for 8 years now and i still like the car, also own second and third Generation Minis but the R53 is the purest drivers car. Not the fastest but on a twisty B road you don't need more to have a lot of drivingfun. And also on Spa or the Nürburgring you have a lot of fun with it, i know by driving myself overthere. First i wanted a R53 Cooper S and modifie that, but then this GP came on my way. It was for sale 100 miles from my home, went for a look. Same day i left my Lexus IS200 at the shop and drove home with the GP:)
Absolutely the best decision. I'd take a GP over a Cooper S with modifications if I was in the market for one. Also a much more fun car than the IS200. I like the IS200 a lot, but it's not built to be a fun car like the GP. Apples and Oranges and all that.
@@ThatYellowDucati The IS200 was a good car, was more our daily car. As fun car i had already a Honda S2000 and i have that still since 2010. I love the S2000 so much, but the GP is easier to drive brutal. The S2000 can be very tricky.
