Thank you for helping make my wife so happy on her 41st birthday! I ordered the switches via your link, swapped them out using your video instructions and now she no longer has this nagging issue with her 2007 Pilot! We love this SUV and we had gotten so used to it now working that now something as simple as this makes it feel new all over again. Thank you again for taking the time to make and post this tutorial! Next job (someday) is replacing its sagging headliner then it'll look completely new again. Anyone who knows of a good tutorial on how to do that on a 2007 Honda Pilot, please let me know. Everyone have a wonderful 2023, especially Fixin It!
I am so thankful for this video as it saved me a minimum of $135 which is what my Honda Service Center wanted just to diagnose why my map lights weren't working. They told me that changing the bulbs was a somewhat complicated process and takes quite a bit of time. And then I would of had to pay labor and parts. After viewing this video I ordered the warm white LEDs with 6 little lights on each bulb and comes in a 4 pack for $12.99 & $1 tax. Took me all of 3 minutes. THANK YOU!!!🤩👍
Just fixed my 2011 Honda-CRV using this video. The only thing I did differently was I removed the screws with an 8mm socket as regular Philips screwdriver started to strip the heads just a bit. Thanks for saving me a bunch of cash!!
Went to the dealer, they don't carry individual switches. For the smaller piece of the console; the piece that holds the switches, they want $126.49. This is confusing, but for the entire console including the portion that holds the spare sunglasses, they only want $90+. THAT'S THE WAY HE EXPLAINED IT. I then went to Autozone and ordered the switches for $24.33. They'll be delivered to the store tomorrow morning. I'm not a rocket scientist, but the choice was easy. Took the assembly apart in five minutes and waiting for the switches now. Your videos were incredibly helpful. Thanks again. I'll report back to let you know that it worked.
Beautiful! After I got the switches and returned from running some errands, I installed the replacement switches and they worked like a charm. I did have to fuss like crazy with the one big connector that didn't have much room for my fingers. Because of being in a hurry, I did not mark the switches as I took them apart and which pug they came from so the entire time I was trying to re-install the plugs I had to continually check the number of pins to make sure I was in the correct plug. Not a big deal but it became annoying having to look at the plugs constantly. Anyway, the job turned out to be quite easy. Thanks again for posting the videos that really helped me and saved me some money.
Before buying new switches, take the assembly apart like he did and check the prongs the switches plug into for corrosion. Clean them then blow some compressed air through the switches and reinstall the switches on the opposite side they were originally on. (This last part may not have any effect but I tried it and it worked) you may find your bulbs are fine or that you just need a new set of 6 dollar bulbs rather than ordering new switches. It all took me about twenty minutes tear down clean and reinstall. So start there.
This comment was huge new switch wasn’t doing the job. Some cleaning of corrosion and I was back in business. Did scraping with small needle nose and screwdriver.
I replaced the lights and I noticed the switch on one side is bad so I'm excited to get the switch and see if I can fix it myself, thank you very easy steps
Try just switching the switches from one side to the other first. Sometimes that works and it will save you some money. There’s also a link in the video description if you need to order from Amazon.
Bravo! Superb separate video from bulb replacement. Took 10 minutes. Not sure if this applies but bought LED lights, one wouldn't work after switch replacement but flipped it around and it worked. Not sure if those are polar?
I've replaced the switch(es) in my 2010 Accord once before and it worked for a good while. I suppose the replaced switch(es) can eventually go bad as well. Going to order new switches again.
Okay, kudos to whoever advised to just reverse the two switches to fix the passenger light that wasn't working when opening the passenger side door. This was after originally replacing both switches because the passenger side courtesy light switch had gone bad. After replacing the switches to deal with initial issue of the passenger courtesy light not working, the passenger side light would not come on when the door was opened. The light worked if I just pressed the light switch but it didn't work when either door was opened. So, someone suggested that I simply switch the two switches and it worked perfectly. I had not realized that there is apparently a left switch and a right switch and there is no way to know which is which, they are not marked. Anyway, my courtesy lights now work perfectly. Thanks everyone for all the great advice.
@@fixinit thank you so much!! I was replacing my bulb and I had to reconnect everything and I didn’t realize the pins were sensitive and so I push the part in to hard to many times and one of the pins broke. Now that I have the name I can find it online. I keep seeing the console part but not that middle part.
So mine has a similar issue where if I move the bulb around it starts working, atleast one one side. The prongs i think have an issue. Can I buy just the lights setup or will I have to replace the whole assembly
So, I'm now a week or two away from repairing the courtesy light. I thought it was working fine but I now do not remember if I ever just checked the light when the door was opened. But now the courtesy light on the passenger side does not light when the door is opened. It lights if I push the light panel itself but not when the passenger door is opened. The light does not come on when I open the driver's side door but the driver's side light does come on when I open passenger side door. I checked the passenger door jamb switch and it seems to be okay. When I push on it, the drivers side switch flickers but the passenger side light does nothing. Could I have connected the wiring wrong? I thought that there was no way to incorrectly connect the wiring because of the connecter shapes and the wiring length on the harness. So, my thought is that I somehow incorrectly connected the wiring behind the light panels or maybe the door jamb switch is bad. The door jamb switch is very cheap, about $6, and it would take about five minutes to replace. A really easy fix but wasted if that is not the problem. Any thoughts?
Try switching the light switches from one side to another. I just did this. Hopefully it will work for you too. ua-cam.com/video/euq4wlLM7P0/v-deo.html
@@fixinit As I reported earlier, I tried this fix and it worked! Only temporarily apparently. The lights have now gone back to giving me the same issue. The passenger side courtesy does not light when either door is opened but will light when I push the light itself. I could reverse the lights again but I suspect I will end up in the same place again. Any ideas? Has anyone ever had this particular problem where the problems re-occurred after switching the switches?
Update. I was able to jump start my car but now all the check engine light deals are popping up. Then when I shut it off I couldn’t restart it. WTH????
@@fixinit also. I learned from another UA-cam video after doing this that you do NOT have to remove the entire assembly or even unplug it to replace those switches. Wish I’d know.

It worked!!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I used CRC QD electronic cleaner with q tips to clean off the corrosion.

It’s crazy, but I have the exact situation in our 2012 Pilot. I didn’t know it was so easy to pull the covers off! Thank you!!
Thanks. Quick and to the point. Very doable job. Now I can fix my wife’s pilot lights.

Short & sweet. Great video! Thanks!
Fantastic video! I so appreciate it! I’ve been struggling with the run around from the dealership-now I can do it myself! Thank you
Thank you, fixed it in less than 5 minutes.

This is mega. Thanks!
Did these faulty switches stop lights in back of car working? Trying to work out if I have a grounding problem or not.
Hi. Great video. What do you call the part that’s in the middle? I need to replace that. Were the door light and sunroof control is.
Center Map light base unit

Would it be the switch if it doesn't work when the doors open but works if pressed?
Yes it could be

Sometimes replacing the bulb fixes the problem. Otherwise try prying the contacts together to make better connection with the bulb.

Hi: when I reinstall the lens, one of them feel loose then other?? Why?? Broken??
Check the tabs. Probably broke. Plastic gets brittle over time.
Are the switches universal? Amazon says this won't fit my '06 Accord.
They might be a little different for your car.
