I remember reading in Meditations by Marcus Aurelius something along the lines of "either there are atoms or there is a god or gods." I'm wondering why Aurelius thought that the existence of atoms somehow extinguished a reason for a god or gods and vice versa. Could anyone tell me why? Thanks!
