@@Bestplacesintheworldtoretire I want to come visit, and see if this would be a happy place for me to move to someday. What is the best way to do this...where to stay, who do we seek to show us all the great spots, etc.?
Hi, Kae Lou. If at all possible, stay for a long time. A few days just doesn't do it. As far as where to stay, we rented a house, but we were here for a long time. To rent a house, look online for the rental agents. For anything else, I believe (although I'm not sure) that TripAdvisor may be good. The question about the great spots is interesting. The Lakeside area is more a great place to live than a great place to visit, so there aren't really many outstanding spots. I would definitely visit the malecon, Ajijic square, the markets like the one we did a video on above, Lake Chapala Society, and the surrounding villages. There are a few golf courses and absolutely great hiking. There are probably more than a hundred great restaurants. Other than that, just enjoy the tranquility of the area and the great lifestyle. Soak it in and see if you like it.
Best Places In The World To Retire My wife would have loved this place .We where unable to make it down together . She went off to meet her maker , one day I will have to go solo without my co-pilot and advisor. I love you Nilda China Adell Vega Forgive me my love until we meet again.🇵🇷 I will miss you forever .
Enjoyed your video, made me hungry 😋 La comida se veía sabrosa! BTW. I've learned to cook los frijoles pintos in the slow cooker by adding boiling water from the electric kettle & let them soak for a half hour or a little more but not longer than a hour. And then turn the cooker to high & let them cook.

Hi, Beto. You have a wonderful country, not only in geography, but in people. You should be very proud. About making other videos, did you subscribe to our channel and did you see all the other videos we already made? We have them from Baja all the way to Chetumal. Let us know what you think-- saludos
Hi! I'm following all your videos now. We plan to retire down there but it could be some time. We do plan to visit for about a week this year and then yearly. I'm watching the weather, but have some concerns about the low humidity. Is the humidity really that low? 9% during the day? Does this play havoc on respiratory systems? Thanks !
Hi, Jen. I would think that the low humidity number must be a mistake. We lived in Southern Arizona, so we know low humidity, and Ajijic is NOTHING like that. Usually, the air is pretty good in the Ajijic area, with the very notable exception of when they burn their fields, which is just before the rainy season, in May and early June. There may be another time as well and it is worse in some areas than in others. In some areas (for example, in San Juan Cosala), the air is pretty bad then. If you ahve a respiratory problem, that would not be a good time to come. Otherwise, the air is soft, just the right temperature, and very pleasant.
Hi, Sonia. Don't let fear of violence keep you from visiting this beautiful place. We've been in the Ajijic area now for almost two years and never had a single problem.

My parents were from Jalisco. I'd like to visit this town though. I still feel nervous because of the cartels. But it looks pretty safe I hope.
