I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion on the boss from a design perspective. To this day I still don't consider Greg a real boss and I think they figured out they went too hard on it and made Hovercraft to make up, but it turned out to be a bit too shallow. I feel like Kurokage hits the mark of what a new boss should bring to the game, while not forcing players to abandon 98% of their previous units, or just recycle previous gimmicks to mask the raid as accessible to players. Thank you for the video.
@@warhammer8230 We are talking about Torment so no. Greg is insanely unit-gated; 97% of your roster won't work on it. Even Causew commented on this in an older video. If you have all the units it is one of the easiest torments around.
@@warhammer8230 I think you misunderstood what end-game content is like. Torment as a whole perfected many of the stuff we had in the past for Insane, refined some mechanics/rng bullshit but mainly introduced new roadblocks players had to go figure out how to go through first, unlike lets say when you're overlevel and just ignore raid mechanics for a lower level boss. Many raids made previously mechanics that were hidden or you could ignore even back then, a must thing for players to learn, adapt and play around them, and often introduced the concept of having multiple teams to beat it - in this case I mean more than 1-2 teams people were used to in lower difficulties. A lot of day 1 gacha and farmable units alike got a lot of highlight becoming core part of some teams and new strategies, something that you would not previously see in lower difficulties including Insane, which is just crazy to think about. Basically that rewarded end-game players for keeping their account progress in check for farming and building a lot of units over a long period of time that previously were just alternatives or "not best in slot" units, and made the experience very engaging, expressive and creative. ----- Now let's talk about Greg Gregorius introduced some requirements basically close to no unit as far as I can tell previously had, besides Koharu which is there to - heal, which is not a mechanic exclusive to Gregorius. The requirement is to randomly have 2 or 3 debuffs on their kit - most units had 1 debuff at most. Plus you needed very specific debuffs that we never had in the game, or just weren't as common or useful in other raids, since the boss demands that you have different types of debuffs so they can stack up. The boss, unlike others also was made with S.Hoshino in mind, so they basically had to kill any sort of blue armored unit in the game that you can think of, *and most red armored units AS WELL on top of that* - something other raids just made harder to do or manage, but not impossible. Yet another limiting factor for older units. And lastly but not least, it also has the highest evasion in the game for a Total Assault boss, which if you tried to follow the severe requirement of trying to use a yellow armor farmable unit on the field, you'd run into the pain of having to deal with massive evasion basically destroying any chances of getting anything consistently done. In the end, the raid was one-teamed. The only Torment to be one-teamed on release, yes. ----- What can we learn from that? Greg is the easiest Torment to clear that goes against everything the game has done previously in regards to unit viability. Anyone could make an alt and clear it in 4-6 months. You only needed a very specific set of units, anything else doesn't even come close to it, so there's nothing there to learn for further teams. You copy one team and clear it. There's no learning curve at all. It's not end-game friendly at all, that's the complete opposite of it.
Greg felt extremelly easy to clear once you have the required units. It doesn't require every student maxed if you can afford to use your borrow on the second team. UE40 Minori/Nagisa, UE Koharu and the remaining units can even be 3*. This team could easily deal 160 to 180M leaving 40 to 60M for a second team with saya. Also, since the boss has no RNG on his behaviour, you can mald Minori crits as much as you like for that sweet upscore while having an easy and safe eject option. It is so easy to run and so consistent that I manage to clear in 8 minutes after day 3 reset and I surely ain't the brightest player around. It definitely felt like an insane raid. Sure, it is challenging to allocate 3 sparks (maybe 4 considering a double spark on ssrt) for greg units considering we had Mika, Nagisa, NY Kayoko/Haruka, Maris, Reisa, Summer Shiroko/Ui/Hanako on the same 6 month spam. I totally agree it is hard for a f2p player to give up on pulling on so many good units just to clear a single raid, but well, this is part of the game, I'm still having to deal with having no summer shiroko, but this is a price I'm willing to pay to keep clearing all torments.
@@warhammer8230 Almost every player at endgame hates kurokage, and for good reason. However if you don't have those characters you pretty much won't be able to clear it, you can get away with it if you have some of those characters. With every other raid in the game, you pretty much just need roles, not characters, which means several people can clear them by using vastly different teams just because they had different students to fit the required roles. UE40 is the recommended investment for Torment and is perfectly enough so UE50 won’t be necessary The main thing to worry about is the eye puddle RNG where if you get unlucky and a student gets hit by too many in a row, Atsuko won’t be able to heal them up in time. UE50 for a slight heal boost won’t really change anything in that case. The only thing you can do in that scenario is to just reset
UE50 doesnt really add anything and won't be the difference between you making it or failing. This is true for basically any UE50, it's never necessary and you'll always have a better place to spend 900 ligma

there are clear on jp server with ue30.
