- 1. Open Disk Management:
Right-click on the Start button and select "Disk Management" from the context menu.
2. Select the Disk:
In the Disk Management window, locate the disk where you want to create a new partition. Ensure that there is unallocated space on the disk. If there is no unallocated space, you may need to shrink an existing partition.
3. Shrink an Existing Partition (if necessary):
Right-click on the partition you want to shrink and select "Shrink Volume."
Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB and click "Shrink." This will create unallocated space on the disk.
4. Create a New Partition:
Right-click on the unallocated space and select "New Simple Volume."
Follow the New Simple Volume Wizard. Specify the size of the new partition, assign a drive letter, and choose a file system (usually NTFS).
5. Format the Partition:
During the wizard, you will have the option to format the partition. Choose the format type and allocation unit size, then click "Next" and "Finish."
6. Complete the Process:
Once the wizard is complete, the new partition will be created and will appear in File Explorer.
Make sure to back up any important data before modifying disk partitions, as there is a risk of data loss.
