Excellent video. Just a point - when dismantling my machine the swing arm at 5'12" was very sticky - probably the main problem. It needed degreasing and relubricating with high-viscosity oil. Also when reassembling the top deck, make sure the spring (4'29") doesn't get caught below the deck. Also the brake pads all fell off! The point about the top oil fence going on the upper side of the capstan shaft has already been made - again a smear of low-viscosity oil won't go amiss here. Thanks again - saved me a lot of time.
It's crazy how this video helped me repair my Beocenter 7700 which uses the same cassette deck. I'm pretty sure no one ever disassambled the thing ever before me but I found the brake pad as you showed it at 11:45 bent outside. Woulnd't have been able to fix it without your video
NOTE: At apprx. 15:50 you have two washers on the capstan. The small thrust washer is in its correct position, but the larger nylon washer goes on the top side. It is to be fitted from above after installation of the capstan/flywheel, - pushed down to just above the capstan bearing. Its job is to prevent oil from the capstan bearing creeping up on the capstan to the tape. Nice video as always!
Yes - if you put the nylon washer - as he does - the flywheel will need much more force to turn and as a result you might get a lot of wow - so the nylon washer need to be in the cassette bay pushed down on the capstan from above - doing nothing more than prevent dirt from entering the capstan
Thanks for your very informative video. I was searching for info on the beocord 8002 but the 9000 appears to be very similar as far as the tape drive is concerned. I'll be looking for tires and belts for my system. Thanks again.
Very helpful video! I just got a Beocord 9000 myself, and was wondering where you ordered the parts (belts, tires), because I want to restore my deck as well.
Excellent video.

Fantastic video, used it to repair my Beocord 8004! Big thank you.
Thank you so much for making this video. It would of been almost impossible for me to fix my Beocord without it.

Super helpful! Is this essentially the same tape mechanism as you find in the Beocenter 7700?
I wish i could do all this... :s
