The cats on Esika's Chariot are Norwegian Forest Cats, called skogkatt in the Norwegian language. The reference here is to Freya of Norse folklore (Esika), whose chariot was pulled into battle by two giant skogkatter.
Seeing Search for Glory just reminds me of the *one* time that I actually put Idyllic Tutor in my deck in Theros Beyond Death: I had Kiora Bests the Sea God, Elspeth Conquers Death, a couple Banishing Lights and an enchantment creature or two, so if somehow I drew both of my rare bomb sagas I did have the fail case of grabbing a removal spell or a creature. But I can't imagine ever playing a tutor in limited unless I had a ridiculous situation like that, where I could tutor for broken game winning cards, was a very controlling deck (Kiora Bests the Sea God was P1P1, so I was playing toward that from the start of the draft) so that I could get away with the mana premium, and I had backups for the fail case. But, hey, once a format it can be a good card.
Worth mentioning that Vorinclex hoses Saga's which are going to show up a lot. Although at Mythic it's not going to happen all that often. Great show as always guys!
@@lesrestall807 Scientifically, yes, there is a difference. Thematically, not so much. Unless you are arguing that all the previous cards that they've made with Ice in their name instead of Snow, shouldn't have been Snow cards, in which case, Icehide Troll has some beef with you. :P

I wonder if Arena devs have put some better AI for damage assignments when someone has Valkmira (Reidane's backside). Anyone who plays with auto-assigment of damage can get blown out by it if they get double-blocked or they have a trampler out. Unless the software automatically does the smart damage assignment of +1 to creatures. That said, I would recommend everyone to turn off the auto-arranging of triggered abilities, auto-assign of combat damage, and auto-ordering of replacement effects, but I am sure many people have at least some of those as automated actions.
There's also the wording of dealing "excess damage" in this set which also really wants you to turn off automatic damage assignment since it is a nightmare otherwise with trample creatures. Though Iam pretty convinced the developers will be smart enough to have automatic damage assignment be +1 to creatures that will not be the correct damage assignment always for example when the alternative is trampling for lethal.
When 'Harnel, Horn of Bounty' was described without the visual aide I assumed it had a comes into play ability instead of an activated ability. What I assumed would have been an unplayable card, but then I heard LSV say "I'm really into this". I had so many doubts there for a minute. Glad I am not yet proven crazy.
They totally missed that changelings are gods for tyrite sanctum. A land that said "4 mana tap and sac this, target changeling is indestructible" is a pretty solid card in a blue or green deck. Putting it on the 1/4 flyer changeling would be an absolute beating once your hand is empty and you can pump 4-6 mana into it each turn
realmwalker with the artifact that turns all your creatures into changelings is absurd btw, faced it today and barely beat it with flying 9/9 chariot that created new blockers each turn xD
question about cosima: once she has a counter on her, she can draw you a card every turn, right?, as long as you hit landdrops... might be that the guys specified that, but this card melts my brain
Sword/Halvar has the extra value of loopholing the legendary rule. There is no problem running 4 copies, because you can simply cast the other side if you already have one out.
Isn't Dream Devourer effect active only while he is in play? Like doesn't it work so if you just foretell all your cards and then they kill dream devourer your cards are just stuck in exile and you cant cast them because they don't have foretell on them? If it works like that its a pretty significant downside.
2:58:45 Well thing with Hearthstone cards is you see them read them and think about a combo and can't be sure if it works. Hearthstone rules texts are not desirable.
So they might have overestimated quakebringer by saying that its 2 damage clause counteracts lifegain. Opponents can STILL gain life when quake bringer is in the graveyard cuz that clause only occurs when hes on the battlefield (and only if you have a giant during your upkeep). Still a great card, but there's a lot more counterplay to its dead trigger than they might have realized.
Dream Devourer: what happens if it dies while I've already foretold a card. Can I still cast the foretold card or cannot I do it, because the Devourer is gone??
I mean it has to do with static abilites, and the other thing. Gonti for example, that guy makes sure you can cast the things even when he left the battlefield. Now I wonder how it is with the devourer, when foretelling cards that regulary wouldn't have foretell, and devourer left the battlefield....
I had a game where I had Maskwood Nexus and my opponent played the creature that has protection from Gods. They put an equipment on it and I died pretty quickly because I just couldn't ever block it.
I know I'm several months to late for this, but I think it's worth noting that the "legendary tribal" synergies in a set like this are probably more reliable than in most sets since it was one of the sets with legendaries at uncommon.
I think the difference to Modern Horizons with regards to snow is that a lot of the snow lands are dual-lands. As a result, a two-colour drafter who doesn't care for snow might take the one-colour dual land because it fixes their deck, not because they care about snow, whereas in Modern Horizons, they wouldn't take a basic as highly. This will reduce the number of snow lands going around the table even if you try to send signals by hard cutting snow. These duals are in the basic land slot at quite a high rate.
An inherent design in most KHM god cards is that the back side works well with the front, so you can run 4 copies in a constructed deck and still not have trouble with the legend rule.
@@pBlackcoat Counters fall off when she changes zones. So she loses her +1/+1 counters when she gets exile and loses her voyage counters when she comes back.
Fae of Wishes is bugged on Arena in a way that probably affects The Raven's Warning as well. There is no way to get lands into your sideboard in Arena draft, so you can't get one into your hand with Fae of Wishes, and you probably won't be able to get a land with the last chapter of The Raven's Warning either.
You know, assuming the snow deck is a proper archetype in this set, I think the 3-mana enchantment that ramps you and makes one of your lands snow is going to up a lot in value. You remember how good Springbloom Druid was in Modern Horizons? I mean, it being a creature was a big part of that, but just putting two snow lands into play did a lot to enable the snow decks, and I think Glittering Frost might function similarly.
Am I wrong that with cosmos charger, you can pay 2 to foretell it on turn 2, then turn 3 cast it on opponents turn with flash paying foretell cost of 3? Foretell just says cast it on a later turn, when the card has flash couldn't you play it with flash?
maskwood nexus with sliver overlord would let you search for any creature or with the world tree it is 10 mana and bring out all the creatures in your deck
Thing you guys didn't mention with Halvar is that he also lets you move your opponents Bound in Gold or Bind the Monster off your good creatures and onto your less important ones. Obviously kind of a cute interaction but could be relevant!
If you draw runeforge champion and a off color rune, you absolutely can play that rune because he makes your rune cost 1 of anything. Am I missing something?
30:02 I have a question. Why is it that Sigrid, like Skyclave Apparition, does not exile the targeted creature if it is destroyed while its ability is on the stack? It would be logiical that it would exile the creature, then the exiled creature would immediatly come back since Sigrid is not there. Because the ability is already on the stack, and it has a target, I dont see why it wouldnt happen. Thanks.
Skyclave has two separate triggers, the first is it's etb, "when skyclave enters the battlefield exile.." and the second is its leave the battlefield trigger, "when skyclave leaves the battlefield". If Skyclave leaves before the etb trigger resolves the leaves trigger will go on the stack and resolve first and since nothing has been exiled yet Skyclave won't make a token as it has 0/no cmc exiled under it but once the etb resolves the permanent will still be exiled. Sigrid is worded with a more modern templating to stop abuse like that in that its ability that exiles the creature is tied to its presence on the battlefield, "exile until Sigrid leaves..". So when sigrid leaves the battlefield the exiled creature comes back immediately without using the stack. TLDR: skyclave has two triggers while sigrid has just one
@@Robert-mx1io but still, the attacking creature in sigrid's case would have to be exiled and come back, since sigrid did etb, therefore it cannot still be attacking, like LSV said. As far as I can tell. Enlighten me?
@@Matsumae_Taiyo555 no it would not leave. 610.3 Some one-shot effects cause an object to change zones “until” a specified event occurs. I actually think Kaldring isn't as much as a buildaround as you think. You don't really need to be in the snow deck to make it work; there's lots of creatures that are just snow creatures, period, and Kaldring helps recur those (quite a few of the blue giants, for instance). You don't actually need to pick up snow lands to make Kaldring work.
With ascendant spirit I wouldn't say you need 10 snow mana to make it good, the first and even second level up ability can be avoided by playing a card called maskwood nexus, which would give it changeling. That would cut down how much snow mana you need by about half. Doing it that way though, when you go to activate it's last ability to try to have it start drawing you cards, it would be just a 3/3 without the flying counter, because you skipped activating level 2. It might be worth the trade off.
Thank you very much for putting the effort in releasing the videos before the actual release!Very much appreciated!

There is no way to get lands into your sideboard in Arena draft, so you can't get one into your hand with Fae of Wishes, and you probably won't be able to get a land with the last chapter of The Raven's Warning either.
In this set you can maybe grab an off-color snow land, at least.
What was the ending story supposed to be about? Who is this Donoven and Shrek?
Did Marshall & LSV realize Vorniclex hoses opposing saga’s?
Yes, you can do that; that's one of the play patterns they discussed. It can sometimes eat a 2-power creature when you use it that way.
I'm pretty sure this will be a disenchant main format. I'm definitely running 1 in sealed and Bo1. Broken wings is looking sexy tbh.
ascendant spirit once you get to angel you can snack it first become a 4/4 then a 6/6 then a 8/8 flyer that draw a card
Good stuff guys
maskwood nexus with sliver overlord would let you search for any creature
or with the world tree it is 10 mana and bring out all the creatures in your deck
Which set has most non reminder rules text Kaldheim or Time Spiral?
Thing you guys didn't mention with Halvar is that he also lets you move your opponents Bound in Gold or Bind the Monster off your good creatures and onto your less important ones. Obviously kind of a cute interaction but could be relevant!
Also if Valki transforms into the stolen creature, he loses the static return effect meaning their creature is gone for good.
If you draw runeforge champion and a off color rune, you absolutely can play that rune because he makes your rune cost 1 of anything. Am I missing something?
isn't there an interaction with Vorinclex and Sagas saying that opponent's Sagas do not work anymore and yours go twice as fast?
2:41:50 lol In Search of Greatness sounds like a riddle or a koan or something, with how loopy its text sounds when read out loud, haha
tyvar seems like its gotta be at least an A- in an elf deck. All the other ratings seemed really accurate though
Doesn't runeforge dwarf guy let you cast any color rune. It's all 1 colorless Mana?
Cosima is the creature version of midnight clock
Toralf's hammer is essentially a hammer of bogardan? :P awesome.

I have a question.
@@Robert-mx1io p.s you're right about Skyclave Apparition its not a good example.
@@Matsumae_Taiyo555 no it would not leave.
610.3 Some one-shot effects cause an object to change zones “until” a specified event occurs. A second one-shot effect is created immediately after the specified event. This second one-shot effect returns the object to its previous zone.
610.3a If the specified event has already occurred when the initial one-shot effect would cause the object to change zones, the object doesn’t move.
I managed to beat a starheim for x=3, felt good!
