I remember that from prince Edward station to mong kok station, it was still saying “ Next station: Mong Kok…..” when the train was already at mong kok and ready to stop
I live in Yau Tong :D it’s really handy because I live really close to the station and right when I leave it there’s a plaza with a parknshop and a McDonald’s etc and I go to Kowloon bay from Monday to Saturday and I can see the east Kowloon cultural centre which is still being constructed when I’m on the tiu keng ling side of cart 5-5
Well not only the Kwun Tong Line that retains the original alignment to help Tseung Kwan O passengers to cross the harbour to North Point, but there are many more of these situations that different train lines can take over other lines when disrupted, with the help of different tunnels.
Reason why Yau Ma Tai for KTL is a thing: since Mong Kok is a cross platform interchange there has to be somewhere for the terminating KTL trains to turn around after they terminates in Mong Kok. When MTR planned the system they realized the amount of tracks they needed for that reverse tracks actually reaches Yau Ma Tai so they figured “why not?” and built the the lower level platform for KTL as their turnaround terminus station
An excellent video. Thankyou. A couple of comments if I may. The Diamond Hill station for the Tuen Ma line is in fact a completely new station just south of the Kwun Tong line DIH station. This is because of the engineering difficulties (and cost) of extending the existing station to each side, as originally intended. Secondly, the cross-platform interchange at Mong Kok is actually same-direction (Southbound KTL to Southbound TWL, etc.) The opposite-direction interchange is at Prince Edward. But who’s too bothered! Great photos and video.
But actually not only that the line was terminated to cross the Harbour to North Point station and then changed to Tiu Keng Leng, but also crossed the harbour to terminate at central station before terminating at Yau Ma Tei and Whampoa.
Maybe the East Rail Line platforms 1 and 2 were the platforms for the separate company KCR and the platforms 1 and 2 on the Kwun Tong Line were part of the MTR company, but since not yet changed after the merging of the two companies.
That was fascinating, including about the names and name changes. I have subscribed and will share. I am a fan of train videos, and wanted to do a channel about Hong Kong, but couldn't think how to do it, thinking only of filming from the train, which would be mainly tunnel shots. You have shown how to do it! (In the end, I started a channel about Hong Kong's amazing bus system instead, with some commentary, but nowhere near your level of knowledge.)
I’m sorry if you’re annoyed, though I’d request some chapters so I can navigate video more easily without having to skip many times You can also delay it if u want just so u can take a break from making chapter rn

Hello from KL
An excellent video. Thankyou. A couple of comments if I may. The Diamond Hill station for the Tuen Ma line is in fact a completely new station just south of the Kwun Tong line DIH station. This is because of the engineering difficulties (and cost) of extending the existing station to each side, as originally intended. Thank you! For Mong Kok, when I said opposite, I meant relative to Prince Edward (i.e. opposite of the cross platform interchange there).
I'm today's old when I realized this line no longer terminates at Yau Ma Tei
But actually not only that the line was terminated to cross the Harbour to North Point station and then changed to Tiu Keng Leng, but also crossed the harbour to terminate at central station before terminating at Yau Ma Tei and Whampoa.
When will u do the extension to Admiralty for the East Rail Line? And now the MTR Q Train is in service on the Kwun Tong Line
Maybe the East Rail Line platforms 1 and 2 were the platforms for the separate company KCR and the platforms 1 and 2 on the Kwun Tong Line were part of the MTR company, but since not yet changed after the merging of the two companies.
Yep that's exactly what happened!

Hi, great video! Which line is next?
Haven't decided yet!
As the ends of Shek Kip Mei are identical to the ends of Lok Fu, we're they also built after the original parts?
I don't have a source, but I think so
@@hiddenhongkong OK
So have you decided which line and when you are going to upload the video?
I'm busy with other videos right now, so probably another week atleast

At the section between Yau Tong and Tiu Keng Leng there’s another track that branches off from Kwun tong line to Tsueng Kwan O Line towards LHP/POA
I’m sorry if you’re annoyed, though I’d request some chapters so I can navigate video more easily without having to skip many times
