Hey guys! Mary here...apologies for the occasional spots of audio static in this video. Clearly I haven't 100% mastered field audio while traveling! Appreciate you all watching and continuing to support my trial-and-error production skills.
Eric, the way I fixed my swing was to think of skipping stones on a lake. It helped me immensely with weight transfer and the slight curl of the wrist on the downswing - although with the trailing arm. I would think this follows a similar principle
I'll say, that when I made the transition to 'turning the screw' in my downswing, it felt really weird and negatively affected my clubhead speed, until I spent a good long time practicing it. It doesn't feel natural and powerful overnight, but it will help your game almost immediately and it gradually gets more natural and ingrained, allowing you to let it go and rip into it. Thanks for the awesome videos.
Great video for the lead hand. Most right hand player are of course right-hand dominant. Can you guys do a video something similar to this for the right hand and how it works thanks great job both of you guys
Thanks! 100%....we have a few on that specific topic! ua-cam.com/video/eseEJ90WEnw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/85QhjRS1ChE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/HwW1ABPxYYk/v-deo.html
I can get to the top w/ a flat or arching left wrist but seem to lose it on way down from all those years of trying to create a lagged look in my dowswing. From seeing this, I should focus more on the downswing twisting to square the clubface. I think of the move as the 'motorycle grip' and it helps to promote more of an outward rotation on my right shoulder and elbow on the way down. Good vid!
I'm right-handed. The reason I struggle with this video and the frisbee analogy is that I would never throw a frisbee with my left hand. So the "feel" isn't natural to me in the first place. It makes me question whether I should be using "right-handed" clubs, even though I'm right-handed. It begs the question, if you would throw a frisbee with your right hand naturally, why wouldn't you swing a club the same way?
No worries my friend...we got ya covered! Here are some right hand feels to accomplish the same thing! ua-cam.com/video/eseEJ90WEnw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/85QhjRS1ChE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/HwW1ABPxYYk/v-deo.html
Really liking the frisbee idea, as it seems to align more with "one plane" swing ideas. Where best do you after starting this feel, and the ball just continues to hook? Do you want more on an inside path, or on a late(r) release?
Hey Scott! I would say once your get too much hook you could do one or some combination of the following: 1. DO this less 2. Swing path more left 3. Rotate body more 4. Move ball more forward 5. Feel more hold off release Of course I would have to see your swing to say what YOU should do. Check out cogornogolf.com if you don't get it sorted I can see your swing and help there
Can you explain the downswing. I usually do the first part of the video so my right wrist is bent all the way. But I’ve being hitting big draws with irons and straight with driver. I try and hold the right wrist angle and you turn left hip and Mack downswing
Hey! Thanks for the message... Can you clarify what you're looking for me explain when you say "Can you explain the downswing. " There is a lot to discuss there.....what specifically?
Sorry. Thanks for the amazing content. I’m meant to say with regards to the actions of the wrist . I know you stress bending the right wrist in backswing. But do you teach to hold that right wrist angle?
No worries! ah I gotcha! See if these help answer that: ua-cam.com/video/HwW1ABPxYYk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/HghEJ-x7Fnk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/U5w_7XwaVks/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/8Cg2O8atmYY/v-deo.html
All else equal.....yes. I would make the face to path relationship more neutral (not more closed to path) Sometimes you can do that by just fixing path first.....make it less in to out It really depends on WHY you get the hook though ua-cam.com/video/HMWq-WZR-0k/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/BKrxVvyp0_A/v-deo.html
I like the impact I get from bowing the left wrist, but I find that the backswing gets super flat and under plane. It’s almost horizontal and looks ridiculous! Do you have any tips for getting those stronger wrist conditions whilst keeping the club on plane?
Yes I do my fiend Use the feels in these videos, left elbow, hand and shoulder along with bow of wrist ua-cam.com/video/RROKALR1xrU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/P7cynqMg4Jw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/bhmbaA22JuQ/v-deo.html
Thanks, Paul! Yes it could.. Certainly it depends on what is going on before hand...more square face and more speed you can have more frisbee through the ball....
This is, by far, the best (and easiest) tip / drill to correctly visualize the backswing, through swing, release and finish - I mean, the *entire* golf swing! Thanks much 👍
When you did the drill hitting balls, have you any idea what your club path would have been? The reason for asking is that my ball striking was much better around 5 years ago and my natural shape of shot was a draw. If I was playing well it was fine, but if my striking was a little off, my club path could have been anything up to +12 deg or so. Generally my club face at impact was a little open to the target but closed to path. In order to counteract the overdraw or hook, I deliberately used to cup my left wrist at the top of the backswing. What I am trying to understand is how closing the club face fits with the extreme club path I often have? Perhaps - although this wasn't suggested in the video - having a strong club face would somehow encourage my body subconsciously to turn more, thereby improving the club path as well?
Hey John! 1. Wasn't measuring path here but I am usually 2-4 degrees to the right 2. I usually don't like anyone getting outside of say +5....anything more and the misses get too wild as you mentioned. 3. I would say closing the club face doesn't fit with extreme path....nothing does :) I would make the path less extreme separate from clubface 4. Would more shut face help? Not always. Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. I would just fix the path all else equal. ua-cam.com/video/HMWq-WZR-0k/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/BKrxVvyp0_A/v-deo.html
@@CogornoGolf Great, thank you. There are a few people promoting the idea that the body just manages to figure out some of these things on its own but I have have never really found that myself. I will take a look at the links you have given. Thanks again.
This is not the drill for someone who does not want the ball hook left.....which I've finally been able to fix. Missing right is bad...but the left's are a nightmare.
Thanks, Terry! Of course I cannot answer that... Would need to know what you mean by "holding hinge"? Would need to see what you are REALLY doing compared to feeling...etc etc etc Check out cogornogolf.com so we can see a video and really help if you have any specific questions you want answered
After watching a bunch of your videos and working on your clock (10-4) drill, I figured out that my swing felt like throwing a frisbee with left wrist and side. Can’t thank you enough and hope I can get up for a lesson and a handshake.
Are we holding this bowed wrist right through to impact or do we allow the wrist to square up naturally causing the club face to deliver the correct amount of dynamic loft.
Hey Thaddeus.... In reality......you are not holding it. What do YOU......need to FEEL? Could be anything. I would have to see what you are currently doing. Some great players may feel they hold forever, others feel throw right away Depends on your clubface angle, swing direction, pivot, angle of attack, etc Again...would have to see a video of your swing to say for sure

Do more of the flexing in transition then and you can fling it from there like the Louisiana boy says :)

Definitely if your swing speed is lower you want to make sure you have enough loft...
