Ghana, oh no no no. They should jail some of the police officers and judges to see how the prison feels.

I am a law person. This case is pathetic. Senior, even if they stole the charcoal as is pronounced by the learned magistrate, giving a custodial sentence for stealing just 5 bags of charcoal is dangerously unfortunate. The learned magistrate, should have fined the convicts instead of a custodial sentence. The exercise of discretion by the judge under Article 296 of the 1992 constitution is capricious. I have cried for these guys. May God have mercy for these souls. This is wickedness.

There's no justice in Ghana! From the facts that they've exposed concerning this case, these two guys should not be in prison. The police didn't do their work properly!

Going to prison 8 months without the option of a fine for stealing 5 bags of charcoal ? Come on why ? I disagree with the exercise of the magistrate's discretion. It was not exercised well in the interest of justice and fairness as provided under Article 296. That alone is grounds for appeal. Ato Essien is going to prison for 15 years only for stealing millions of cedis and 5 bags of charcoal he is to serve 8 months ? The prison yes are also excessive. Grounds for setting aside the judgement at the High Court. Go to the High court, they will be free....

This is so disheartening. Even though it's one sided, their stories tie in so well to leave little doubt to be untrue.
How much does it cost for them to get an appeal?

  • @asarefromlasvegasnevada2640

1 bag of charcoal 18 months x2 that's 24 months for 1 bag charcoal even what they are is lies this is too much. Whiles in San Francisco petty theft is misdemeanor, which includes stealing any item value $950 or less. $950 is more than 10,000 Ghana cedis. Ghana have long way to go.
