It's always that way. You never know what you have until it's gone. Celebrate what you at least had, where there are those who have never known such happiness. You are better for having known it at all.
I was so lucky to be born in this era of musical excellence. I did not know that there was a version of this prior to Eric Benet's and Faith Evans's version. But they are both beautiful 12/07/24. Love all the artiste involved ❤❤❤
Nothing beats the 80's generation - This song it has all the musical ingreds to stand the test of time.Awesome group awesome song...simply put the music that defined us all. This is what music sounds like!!
You can tell that all of Toto's session-work on most of Boz Scaggs' albums, has certainly influenced their creation of this amazing song. What I would love (just for fun), is to hear Boz Scaggs sing it - it's like it was written for him, as well. That would be sooooooo cool.
I feel you Bro ☝🏼 The band members cut their teeth writing and playing for whos who of pop music. Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs and Stevie Nicks and Michael Jackson and Elton John and Springsteen and Santana and Paul Simon and several others. That's why these guys can play a variety of music from power pop to funk to jazz fusion.
This is Blue Eyed Soul at its BEST.... but surely it’s loved by no matter what we are .....Ms Lynn appearing on this Classic Track sums it up .... when we ALL have these thoughts we ALL can come together 🙏
Why is is 80's and 90's music give you this feeling of just wanting to dance dance dance or makes you all happy inside but this music today makes you want to hurt somebody or just pisses you off? Random question
The sound on this is beyond amazing. Next time I'm driving a 1978 Ford LTD, Mercury Marquis, or Lincoln Continental...this will be blasting out my speakers.
Just heard this on the radio station 88.3 The Sound and it bought memories from my younger Chicago days. This song was a hit and it still todsy sounds excellent today. If artist now could take notes from that Era of great music 🎶.
Wow,what a song, what a jam ! This song is a funk/soul smooth masterpiece. You don't get music like this today. This lead singer had freakin soul and lots of it! Man ,you can tell in the 70's ,80's the standard for music was so much higher than today. Today's music is shit compared to this!

Oh the joy I feel when listening to such an epic and right on rare groove classic. Tracks like this should always have a special place in one's❤.🤓✌🏾. B
It sounds like Boz Scaggs because David Paich co-wrote and co-produced Silk Degrees and contributed to Middle Man. Paich wrote Lowdown and co-wrote Lido Shuffle. Stands the test of time.
its one of my faves too,has a lot of Soul, some call it Rock but cherly lynns wonderful background vocals, made it a smash hit on the R&B curciut at the time i'm still rockin this cut in 2012.....
OMG for years I always thought that this was sung by Boz Scaggs ....Thanks for the share and the memories of good times of a youth that was amazingly fun =)
@@bigwrdzable Yeah and Bonham got it from Bernard Purdie, the legendary Purdie shuffle used on Steely Dan's Home at last and then Babylon Sisters. All 3 were great drummers!!!
one of my favorite songs when i was 17 in high school- timeless, and one of my first 12in. singles i bought that started my collection of 12in. singles.
Just passing Thur after all these years it still sounds good clear and clean with no skip or scratches on it. Ps shout out to jeff for everything sounds good
WOW!!.. THIS Disco Version is like putting on headphones AFTER you rinse out ear ducts to get the wax out...LOVE that SoulSiS belts out that phrase more than on original....
When I first saw the length of this video it made me think I was about to hear an extremely rare, extended and super exclusive version of this wonderful track 😂😂😂😂
Fabulous song flashback from the 70's. Hey I was 2 when this came out yet I have so much appreciation for it. Perfect blend of easy rock and soul. The melody is classic and the horns, oh those horns. Just makes me want to groove....
Gorgeous record. So emblematic of LA 1978. Steve, you sound great here man. And Cheryl Lynn was an inspired choice for guest vocalist. And Jeff’s drumming, wow!
One of the all time classics. This was what you listened to before you got down to business with a beautiful lovely. This was something that was way ahead of its time and still gives me a rush every time i hear it.
Whenever you hear me play anything with that feel you can't buy with decades of lessons; guys like Porcaro is precisely where I got it from. dadevi it's wrong. Sorry. :) Nothing about it qualifies. It was a marketing ploy to cash in while that style was in. I like funk and I still play Saturday Night Fever. But this being called disco offends me.
A lot of songs were classified as disco back in the late 70s and early 80s. If it was played at a disco (or a discotheque), then it was considered disco. This is one of those songs that's considered soft rock, R&B, and Disco. It was actually on the Billboard Disco Chart at #80 in 1979, so your opinion of this song not being Disco doesn't hold any water with me.
Cheryl Lynn's Vocals were CLASSIC she killed this song just a Unbelievable Combo❤
Old school music holds its own.
This one makes the late 70’s so real. It’s almost like: if you close your eyes and listen...as you slowly look behind you- there it is. 1979.
The 80's had the best music, but 70's showed the 80's how its done.
Perfeitissimo
this song reminds me of when I was happy...and I didnt know how happy I was.
I hope you'll feel that happy again very soon!
calibreeze007 hey thanks man! I really needed to read that!

Pure Class !!! Toto and Cheryl 80s dancefloor gem
T.S.O.N.Y. of the 80's. What a sound, what a time to be young. "May you too always live in interesting times".
This is ABSOLUTELY the BEST version of this classic track - by far! Cheryl Lynn adds so much to it.. Thanks for the upload!!!!!!!!
It sounds like Boz Scaggs because David Paich co-wrote and co-produced Silk Degrees and contributed to Middle Man. Paich wrote Lowdown and co-wrote Lido Shuffle. Stands the test of time.
I was wondering why it sounded like Boz Scaggs, thanks for the info.
Not to forget the songs share Jeff Porcaro - fantastic drummer
00klemm That's one nasty backbeat. Jeff had an incredible feel from Lowdown to Miss Sun. He improved what Purdie conjured.
John Lawler Toto (or the musicians who would become Toto) also performed a lot of the music on that album as well.
Adam Moreira Yep. Porcaro, Paich, Hungate are all over it, establishing their signature sound, expressed later on Toto.
Hermosas melodías me remontan a un tiempo bello de mi vida
Smooth. I had this ToTo album on cassette when I was a kid! I never knew who the gal was on vocals for this song. Good to know her name now!
Johnathan Reynolds yeah Cheryl Lynn she has her own great hits look her up
“Star Love”, the 9 minute or so version, is my ultimate Cheryl Lynn favorite.
Love this song... makes me smile just like when I see my Georgy ❤
its one of my faves too,has a lot of Soul, some call it Rock but cherly lynns wonderful background vocals, made it a smash hit on the R&B curciut at the time

Clássica! A parte 3:17 pra frente é demais! Saudades.
This takes me ALLL the way back to my childhood man 🤧🙌🏽 good memories ❤️🙏🏽
jeff porcaro is 'the master of time'. his drum beats were unbeatable. the 'half time shuffle' from rosanna is the best one he came up with.
And that was from, John Bonhams, "Fool In The Rain" by, Led Zepplin!
He made Lowdown" if u ask me
Incredible

late 70s brilliant soft rock and soul collaboration Toto and the sexy vocals of Cheryl Lynn Georgy Porgy not Disco
Simply brilliant! In my opinion, the song, the musicianship, the arrangement and the production, are all bang on! It makes me feel real good...
Love it. A blast from back in the day. I learn how to step off this classic.
Heavy rotatipn on the urban radio stations in nyc when it hit. I was 11. Still my favorite.

It's more like a Disco-Pop groove.
Michelle M It is disco. Otherwise it wouldn't have said so on the label.
