- Today, we take a quick visit to Bill Banta's Stoddard Hill Farm Railway and look at his fantastic new ballast tipple. Then we head into the shop and see the CNC mill hard at work, making bolsters for the Shady Pines Railroad.

Great neighbor & colleague. His farm & railroad aren't anything to sneeze at either. Nice road trip.
I too am impressed! The ballast tipple is wonderful.
OF COURSE he had to build it. Well done.
That ballast hopper is way too cool bro and milling machine is neat as well. Safe travels
Awesome!! Boxcar Red sounds great. :)
Fantastic job love it
Impressive ballast tipple!
So how many Cu Ft of stone will fit in there? That will be such of an advantage
for laying ballast for the tracks with considerable less ‘ hand “ work, use the bucket
to fill, then the ballast cars to spread, but still need to tamp it down by hand.
that is just an amazing idea and set up. love that CNC mill good tools, make tasks
so much easier to complete. great video, thank you for all your efforts! barry
I think it fits two buckets, so roughly a yard.
VERY cool! After watching your previous ballasting video there, I wondered if he would create some sort of hopper/loader. That will be even more handy if he ends up buying a few more of those ballast cars :)
That is really cool!!!
hi love the railway
Any chance of seeing a track plack for Stoddard Hill? It looks like it would be interesting to see.
I'll have to ask Bill about that.
@@MillBrookRailroad Of course.
Thanks
I guess my suggestion came to fruition.
It was already built by the time you suggested it.
@@MillBrookRailroad I figured; great minds. Lol
Huh, I just watched the first video with the tipper cars, and was thinking he'd need one of those to load them faster. lol
Gosh that hopper is impressive, Bill seems to have this great brain and enables him to 'build stuff' that works for him, and his railway, what a man he is, what a railroad he has,
NICE! can't wait to see a video where you're putting the thing to work and fill up the cars with rocks.
it might be interesting getting the doors closed while it still has rocks in it, but, it should fill cars like no tomorrow.
SWEET!!!!!
keep on keepin' on my friend.
i seen your video od the ES-2-500 and was wanting to suggest a UK class 08 as a next project and you could but a bigger motor in it and it would be neat and you could just makei t with the American nuckles and not the uk buffers and all that and i only could ever find 1 video on one
Are you going to do a video of tipple in service?
Coming soon...
I was gonna say you need a hopper of some kind but this works aswell
Question : has a runaway ever happened yet?
Like a wagon or two
no runaways.... drawbars and safety chains....
@@billbwks oh that is wonderful to hear! :D
Wouldn’t want anyone hurt or rolling stock damaged
The tipple is awesome, love it!!
And there’s nothing wrong with over building it looks good as is no need for pant 😁😁👍
Now he just needs a conveyor pit and conveyor to load it.
