    I love that this is thorough and reserved. So many creators champion the "oh my god this is amazing!"style of video, which gets tedious quickly.
    Thanks again, plug-in alliance!

    I'm absolutely in love withe the ACME XLA-3. It's my main opto comp few years ago. Not only for compressing, but also as a tube saturator. Absolutely amazing!

    i bought the UAD LA2A bundle, and the 1176 bundle, a long time ago and i still use those when i record my vocals because the neve unison technology and being able to print all of that is just wonderful. it makes my pretty run of the mil microphone sound incredible. but i'm falling absolutely in love with bx_opto. it sounds incredible in the actual sessions. i just got the mega bundle after leaving waves and im loving all of these tools man. such a gold mine.
    really shocked there is no fairchild emulation.

      opticom sounded so great on guitar. the lower E of the acoustic was caught very well on that one and gave the tone more balance. was a really beautiful sound actually.

    Mega bungle user here, I've been using bx_opto as my main transparent compressor for some time, but that Twincom sounds so clean, I'll be definitely trying it out in my next sessions. Thanks Plugin Alliance for the amazing work! ❤

    Great work, as usual, Justin !
    . . . After putting them through the paces last night , I am seeing firsthand what You are explaining here . . .
    I am finding that the BX Opto can go anywhere and everywhere, as You mentioned . . . it is so clean and easy to use.
    The Millenia TwinCom is also versatile, yet It definitely has character to it, and has a more rich and complex feature set.
    The Acme Optocom is very fun on certain sources and busses . . . The simple amplifier style system is great and adds character immediately.
    I used them all together on a mix buss, last night, and they definitely had fun together on that buss ride !

    Also, something to note about opto compression that makes it more "alive" or 3D, is the fact that the louder the signal going into the compressor, the faster the release time becomes. Which really suits the audio material - typically if you have sharp transient spikes, youd want a quicker release time for those so that it doesnt trigger a long release time ducking the rest of the signal for no good reason.

      A great plugin! That one is more of a channel strip because of the EQ and multiple stages of compression and limiting, so it will probably end up in a channel strip video or speciality compressor video instead.
      But it’s a very good one! I probably should have mentioned it here with the other honorable mentions though.
      Thanks for the great comment.

    This is useless without gain compensation... 😕

    • @JustinColletti
      @JustinColletti Рік тому +10

      The basic examples here are all pretty closely level matched. Check ‘em out on your LUFS meter and let me know what you find! But even when they are very close on the meters they can still sound different in perceived level.
      No level matching is ever perfect (and sometimes you actually have to shoot for different LUFS readings to make them sound closer) but these are pretty close.

      In your opinion obviously. That's a shame you feel that way dude. You should spend some time training your ear. We worked with hardware and plugins for many years before things like Gain Compensation even existed and never had any issues. If you think that any plugin is useless without it, you are discounting many amazing plugins, and that is a real shame. As for the video, the gain changes are close enough to be able to tell the difference IMO

    • @beatsandsamples
      @beatsandsamples Рік тому +3

      @@TheCratesMotel Exactly. I don't hear too many people describing Fabfilter ProQ3 as useless. No gain compensation. Fabfilter Pro L2. No gain comp. Almost every channel strip plugin made by almost everybody. No gain comp. I could go on. A plugin is not useless without gain compensation. What a ridiculous statement. As you said, what a shame.

    • @decathlonvideos
      @decathlonvideos Рік тому +1

      @@TheCratesMotel Im sorry but I think my comment can have a wrong interpretation,. Let me explain what I mean. I'm not saying the plugin is bad, I actually try it and it is pretty good. I purchased Mega Bundle this year and I'm so happy with most of the plugins. But to do an honest A/B test you need both LUFS at the same level, bypass and process signal at the same level. I'm not saying this plugin needs to have gain compensation, please, most of the plugins don't have gain compensation, but Im talking about doing it manually, it's pretty easy to do. And to be fair he did his best but sometime levels are so different that's why I post my comment. I hope you understand my point now. Cheers!

    • @decathlonvideos
      @decathlonvideos Рік тому +1

      @@beatsandsamples please read my reply to @saint, and Fabfilters are great and L2 its a limiter and I cant recall trying a limiter with gain compensation because it will be.... useless?? haha
