    Commented on the Small Soldiers video too but I absolutely loved this game as a preteen. It was a gift from my almost-stepdad & holds a special place in my heart. He got me this, Boombots, and Aquanauts Holiday. I dug his style & really miss him. Wish my mom had married him but he was a true father figure & computer geek I could relate to as a weird gamer-girl in the 90s & early 00’s. Thanks Jeff. You still are a gem sir.

    I always remember magazine articles about Wild 9 back in '98 and my mom and I were very hyped about it. We even had a promo picture of the game that we included in one of our old picture frames. I always remember seeing that one commercial with a SWAT team storming a gamer's apartment in search for the game which got me so excited, that I eventually got hold of the game not too long after. This was also one of those games where I got to play the full version upon reception first before even playing the demo afterwards. Gran Turismo and TOCA 2 were also those where I played the full versions first before playing the demo way back when the PlayStation was at its prime. I do agree on the game's difficulty though: After some perseverance, I managed to complete the first Bombopolis level after numerous tries, but stopped dead on my tracks on the Drench level that even to this day, I have difficulties beating it.

    I was just playing this recently, this was a game I played as a kid that I forgot the name of. Always remembered the 1st stage, throwing enemies into the turbines/grinders was SHOCKINGLY graphic to me, the sound design and gore(it's ok for kidz cuz it's green apparently) where really narly.
    As as the lightning leash gimmick goes, I took BulletStorm as a sorta FPS inspired by this.

    These videos are so trippy in a weird but amazing way. This game was completely deleted from my memory until I saw the game's steampunk-ish UI and the meat grinder trap, which made remember that I played this exact demo back in the day. It's baffling how something can be a brand new experience until a seemingly insignificant image unlocks some sort of ancestral memory. Great work, I've been enjoying these videos a lot.

    It's unfortunate the game wasn't as successful in sales as expected, there was even some rumors going around that a cartoon series probably would have happened if it got the same popularity of Earthworm Jim, but with a lot of other well known PS1 games releasing during the same year, I suppose it was going to get overshadowed, hell, I didn't even know about Brave Fencer Musashi until almost a decade later and that game was under the radar. I actually recall getting this game on my allowance back when in released, and skipping out on going to go see the Rugrats Movie in theaters because I was almost done with the game lol. Going back to this game myself I can understand the pros and cons here, game's still somewhat fun today, while the sugar cereal eating junkie me from 30 years loved it back then.

    • @SeanSeanson
      @SeanSeanson  2 роки тому +1

      Appreciate you watching pal!
      Depends on the channel/footage. Some channels have info in their channel description about usage of their game footage and how they'd like to be credited, others you may need to reach out if possible.
      But generally speaking simply crediting them for the footage both in the video or description is they way to go. Just make sure it's being utilised as a transformative work rather than simply passing it off as your own and you're good to go.

    In the highly unlikely event that "Wild 9" ever gets remade, all *9* members of the team should be made playable alongside Wex Major.
    Also, some songs were composed by *Sonic Mayhem* too. Of "Quake II" fame. And that boss music in Stage 4 is reused from "MDK."

    If they’d cut the levels in half, so one level is Wex & the Rig saving the other character, and the other is exploring their mechanics, that would have made this game awesome. Only thing i'd like to correct is that while the final level song is mostly the same as the first level it changes near the end of the song, i remember this because as a kid i got disappointed as well, until i heard the change at the end which sounded beyond hype, which probably played a part in making it one of the most memorable levels, unless its like a region thing since im in EU switching it up or because my copy was bootleg.
    Edit: I went and listened to both songs again, Karn's Palace version is actually almost completely different, you could say its a remix or arrange of the song, to add it just felt like a real call back to the first level and how far you've come (since i don't even know the hell i went through as a kid to get that far), i really think it was my favourite part of the game.
