Do the books ever elaborate on why the Old Gods don't rule the world at the present times? Why do they always lurking in the dark but never come forth? What stop them?
The situation as I recall is that the current astronomy around Earth is harmful to them, and that's why they're waiting for the stars to align in a particular way that isn't harmful.
Keep in mind, I could be completely wrong, as it's been a bit since I read any Lovecraft.
They don't really care enough about the earth to do anything but sometime go and mess with it. Cthulhu is sealed there but he's fairly weak in the grand scheme of things and was sealed by another alien race.

Love that you hear three different lyrics being sung at the same time at some point, and there are no la-la-las or ding-ding-dongs, they all are legit lyrics, I had to find the music sheet to get all the different parts. Plus, the minor key fits these lyrics more than the original.

The super boss in Etrian Odyssey 3, the Abyssal God, is basically Cthulhu, but I don't think that's a fight anyone has ever won going in blind. Mostly people know all of its abilities and build a team specifically for it or soft reset to rig the AI because the boss fight is so hard.
I don't think we can soft reset reality. At least we'll die with cool music though

It's an event that happens twice a year, it's when the sun is, relative to the equator, at it's "highest"(north most) or "lowest"(south most) point. It's opposed by the equinox which, also, happens twice a year and it's when the sun is, dead center, on the equator and, thus, daytime and night-time are equal.
