Trains at Lancaster - 21/02/2023

Filmed on 21/02/2023. Another railway adventure begins with a journey along and across Lancashire. Kicking off at a station which is the gateway for Lancashire, Cumbria and the Lake District and for the seaside resort town of Morecambe. This is the first visit in 3 years back to Lancaster (Season 10 Episode 4)
Since the timetable changes was made in December 2022, there is now an increase of train services along the West Coast Mainline. Northern has introduced extra compacity on some of their services linking Windermere to Manchester Airport from 3 coaches now to 6 coaches per train.
Most of the Avanti West Coast 11 carriage Pendolino's has been fully refurbished and are now all in service. The 9 carriage Pendolino's are yet to go for a full refurbishment. Northern has introduced a more frequent service running between Morecambe to Leeds via Lancaster and using the class 158's mostly Perkins engines.

Got to say that nothing much has changes since I was there last month apart from the lack of Avanti trains that I had (who would have thought that huh?). Very underrated station is Lancaster

Well, Avanti are still running every 2 hours between Edinburgh to London Euston via Birmingham I think.

Lancaster can be hit or miss for freight for now Mike. It all depends on timing especially for intermodal traffic but the next video for next week makes up for it :-)
