It won't do any good. Banning drugs only took away all regulation and lead to way more deaths, imprisonment and organized crime. Banning guns would do the same thing. If you look at the number of guns legally owned in this country then the percentage of guns used illegally is less than 0.000001%. by percentage cars are more dangerous than guns by far. What we need is education and enforcement of existing regulations.
I'm angry about senseless violence as well. I'm angry that people want to strip the rights of law abiding citizens because of the bad behavior of a very small minority. We can't repeat the same mistakes and expect a different outcome though.
