You are a person who seems like would give a straight answer and not just try to push the last thing someone gave you free. That being said would you recommend a quad to go with that set of goggles for someone that’s only ever flown camera drones? I know they are completely different than what I’m used to and would like to get something for a complete noob beginner to learn with and then if that goes well I will upgrade my equipment to something higher grade. I’ve watched you guys fly those type of drones on this channel and others and I can’t stand it anymore, I have to try it for myself. If you could recommend something for a person like me I would appreciate it very much. Thank you for all the awesome content also!
For starting, I suggest buying a kit. I think the best kit to get is the emax tinyhawk rtf kit. Buying a kit has everything we need to get started and keeps the cost down. Even if we search around, we might be able to save a few dollars(if we really budget hunt), but we don't get the support of a company like Emax. Emax is active on Facebook and also has many many customers that can also help.
Nick Burns , very cool, thank you very much, your advice sounds good and after checking out a lot of your content I figured you were the man to ask! I agree paying a few more buck is worth good support so I will go with that recommend, I’m looking very forward to trying fpv flying, I live out in the middle of no where with many large hay fields all around I can use to learn in. Standing or cut the hay is very crash friendly. Love your channel and the detail you provide is outstanding, I felt almost like I had held the goggles in this video in my own hands almost, very nicely reviewed! I subbed already and will be watching future content for sure. P.S. I asked same question on a previous vid so just disregard , the were many many comments there so didn’t expect you to see that anytime soon really. Thanks again!
@@noonespecific9463 Big hay field will be great for practice and having fun. I appreciate you confidence in me and hope to see you much in the comments :)
Dam your good in air mode in your house Nick & twas prob your most rough run Ive seen also. I just upgraded from cheap to mid range goggles, eachine vr005 then the Tobyrich goggles & now Aomway V1s. Huge differences, if you can afford better goggles buy better goggles people's 👌
good goggles are a wise investment, we can use the same radio and goggles across many quads. That run was a bit rough, I had to quickly train myself to focus as I was looking around the goggle screen rather than on where the quad was going.
I would see about getting the ev800d, they aren't sleek or small like the EW30s but they separate for bench use and have a slightly higher resolution. On the other hand last I recall they were selling for about $80.
Hello Nick, Hope you are having a grand day! New to the rc world. I fact, I am trying to find the best first purchase. I don’t want to make a huge purchase but I also would like to re-use the same goggles and controller as well. I would only like to switch up the drones. What should I be looking at in a controller and goggles that allow me to do that? Thanks in advance
Traditional fpv goggles will work with other drones, except those that have the dji air vtx in it...for now. These goggles and others like it are analog where the dji drones/vtx are digital and not compatible with other goggles. DJI stuff is much more expensive as well.
Nick Burns thanks Nick. That helps a lot! I’m new to the channel and only watch a couple videos so far. I like that you show a lot of the DVR footage when doing a review. Thanks
My only concern about these is how long will they work on one charge... 3.7v 1000mah isn't much and Eachine have messed this up before, by building a pair of budget-googles that actually wasn't bad, but by choosing a way to little integrated battery they messed up big time. I've seen this kill the joy instantly with new pilots, when they are stuck on the ground after under 30min flying, having to charge the goggles when everybody else are up and flying. Without the option to swap out battery and stay in the air with the buddies, this product comes out to short, like all of the other options with the same problem.
@@NickBurnsFPV 45+ on not fully charge isn't that bad at all, and way better than some previous goggles from them, but I would still recommend goggles with the option to swap out the battery. I don't know why others didn't copy Aomway's solution to this, but by having the solution to choose a battery from 2s up to 4s, it was one of the best solutions out there. If you're flying solo, this wouldn't be so much of a problem, but when you are out with friends either doing freestyle, race or long range, you're looking at spending way much more time flying than what this type of goggles can provide on one charge. And when you got a charging time to include, instead of just putting the goggles on and don't have to worry about empty battery while you're flying, we're talking about two different experiences and costs. My tip to those who want to buy them and fly with friends at the same time: Bring a lot of beverage and snack, you'll need it 😆🍿🍻
I've been interested in looking into the fpv thing. I'm glad I found this channel, sadly it took the giveaway to find but I'm still watching well after just a give away :) Trying to learn and get better, and cant do it alone. Thank you for the info and breaking your bank for some of us so we dont have to. Someone like me is very limited and blowing a bundle on something crappy would suck. My friend already stopped me from doing it with a crappy drone and I grabbed a used phantom 3 instead and havent looked back
Recommend grabbing an Xbox or PlayStation controller if you don’t have a transmitter, toss it on a sim get used to that then still keen get a transmitter put it on the sim still like it get the quad
Thanks as always for the great reviews. I'm having a strange issue with one of my tunes. I recently changed the battery on my 3 inch micro from a 520mah HV to a 550mah standard voltage and suddenly the quad is exhibiting quite bad flight characteristics. It's like the tune is all whacky. The motors stutter every few seconds like they're skipping a beat. Have you ever come across this with a battery swap?
The battery swap might be a coincidence. I would look at the esc, test in betaflight motors tab, going full throttle and 0 throttle really quick looking for a stutter or inconsistencies.
I _always_ bring a little 7" monitor when I go out to fly, and boy! have I showed a lot of people the magic of FPV: kids, adults, elderly people, cops, friends, girlfriends, my mother, you name it! Often, I avoid people just so I can fly in peace 😉 The main reason is still the cops though... TL;DR: Always good to have a ride-along display! P.s.: did the Skyzones crop a little more off the image, or did that happen in editing?
Will they work with the tiny hawk rtf complete bundle the goggles that came with it work great for me but no DVR thanks for the info is there another brand maybe one up from these with a DVR since the lenses only move left and right I think I need them to move back and forth that's how I got the tiny hawk goggles to focus I'm new to the sport and I must say I'm pretty addicted is there any difference with antennas it's confusing to a newbie
yes, they will work with the tinyhawk and other emax products. Its best to match antennas, so if the quad/drone has a straight/linear antenna the linear antenna will work well on the goggles. I also mix antennas, I have circular polarized, the round mushroom looking antenna on my daily goggles which work fine with both linear and matched antenna.
these are 5.8ghz analog goggles, if the parrot bebop tx is the same then yes...I don't have the parrot products. Cost to build a "racing drone" varies...what size, 5inch prop, 3inch prop, sub 3inch?
Good review! How do you think these compare to the emax transporter goggles that comes with the tinyhawk rtf package? I wanted to upgrade my goggles and give my son the emax one. Or is there another goggles in the $100~ that you think would be a better option? Looking for something with dvr to fly with for now
They are very similar, I think the feel in the goggles is that of a bigger screen, these are also more comfortable as they are lighter. In the ~$100 range about the only others I can think of would be the eachine EV800DM, I was not able to focus on those goggles, but others have a good opinion of them.
@@NickBurnsFPV thanks for the reply! The emax goggles look blurry to me and I'm afraid the ev800d would look the same? I use +1.50 reading glasses but may need to get a little higher prescription. Is your eyesight about the same? Do you recommend another goggles maybe a little bit more in price?
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you for your reviews! I recently started watching your videos and bought the tinyhawk 2 rtf bundle because of your review and your reply. And have been putting it to hard use for the 2 weeks that I've owned it.

Nick what u recommend for RC TRANSMITTER I want one that like a playstation controller something smaller as I fly bigger drones ie Dji range and want to start FPV any recommends? Cheers from Scotland ✌🏴
My daily driver is the frsky x-lite. Note not the x-lite s or pro, the original. The new x-lite have new firmware that isn't fully compatible with some built in receivers.
Thanks for another great review. I wear glasses to read and getting goggles that can fit over glasses has been a big problem. I struggle to focus up close. What about the Viper FXT goggles?
Those are the goggles I recommend for those that must wear glasses, the glasses fit inside. I too wear glasses but my Rx is very weak and the same in each eye, goggles like the fatshark and skyzones work for me.
Old video but I have a question, I'm looking to start with a mobula 6 but I'm totally stuck on what to get with it, could you advise me on a transmitter to get that would be compatible and would these goggles be compatible?
These goggles will work, they reception won’t be as good as more expensive goggles. When it comes to radio and quad we need to be sure we match the control link protocol on those. Most people either use frsky or expresslrs protocol
yes, but the audio will largely be static if the vtx doesn't have a microphone. The audio you hear in my flight videos is not from the goggles or the dvr, I use a stationary camera and bring in the audio when I put the video together.
@@NickBurnsFPV indeed! the first mod was to rip the speaker out since the volume up control seemed stuck right outta the box. i remember that distinctly. i was tethered to a ground station with a long soldered coax video cable. never recorded anything worthy but i just dug them out today and they work!(if i keep the charging cable plugged in)
@@logan4706 With low weight being a big component of the toothpick class I would only suggest using an HD/fpv camera like the caddx baby turtle, runcam split mini. Those with low weight, adding another camera will add weight and decrease flight time and performance.

I think for glasses either the hobbyking cyclops goggles for the fxt vipers are best. Unfortunately when we need to fit glasses inside they do make the goggles significantly bigger. @@ChrisRiley3D-Everything I never noticed it until I tried better goggles.... via my wife buying me dom v2s she thought I looked stupid with the goggle 2s that I purchased and WAS perfectly happy with... and down the rabbit hole I went
I did a writeup on them on RCGroups almost a month ago, search for "Eachine EW30 goggles - don't waste your money" with a full teardown, both the specs and showing the insides. Shame that the dual antenna setup is bogus because they're connected to the single receiver via SMD capacitors, it's not diversity. The face curve is too shallow, it really doesn't fit my face and let a lot of light leak in through the sides. And finally they royally screwed up the band names as they bear NO RESEMBLENCE to every single other VRX & VTX on the market, you have to ignore the band name & look at the frequency.
I will need to watch closer for band names, I go by the frequency. I don't see where they spec them as diversity. "Don't waste your money" seems pretty harsh for $50 goggles that work. How was the focus for you?
@Nick Burns People always assume dual antennas = diversity, simply connecting two antennas into a single receiver is not how it's done unless there's circuitry to do antenna diversity, like the Fat Shark module FSV2445 I started out with. I don't have any trouble focusing with my daily driver HD2's but did find the EW30's to be difficult, ideally I need +2 diopters, they should've engineered focus capability like the EV100's as I can see those crystal clear but the screens are too small. I'm surprised you didn't look at the specs plastered all over the Banggood page and compare them to what they actually are. 120 degrees FOV? Looks more like 60 and they added them together. I know it's minor, but 1000mAh lipo in the specs, 950mAh lipo in the goggles. But the biggest letdown for me was the face curve is way too shallow, as I show in the photos of my writeup, comparing it to Fat Sharks and the EV100's. The curve being too shallow makes them uncomfortable to wear as the parts either side of the nose practically digs into my cheeks, and the foam doesn't press against my face at the sides, letting in light.
Having the band names completely different to everything else will confuse those new to the hobby, which these are aimed at. Imagine if someone who had been using EW30's for a while with a whoop at home went to a gathering of flyers to go fly with them, and when asked what channel they're on they look at the goggles and say "A1", but in reality they'll be on E4.
@@licensetodrive9930 True assumptions are prevalent. Those EV100 screens were really small. I did look at the specs and read the manual, the resolution on things and pixel info is so unreliable, I skip it for either a comparison or an attempt to show it. It might not be 120, but its far greater than the SKZ 03O or my FS HD3. That first flight took some discipline to focus on "what was ahead" rather than taking in the entire screen.
@Nick Burns I'm used to the 50 degrees of the HD2's (I love the immersion level they give) so didn't have much problem with the apparent 60 degrees of the EW30's, but one thing I did find a little distracting was how much the insides of the screen+lens modules reflected the light from the screens. If you've looked at my teardown photos you'll see how those assemblies are conical which really doesn't help.

Great review. I wish you would have did a size comparison with your skyzone goggles. These will be great for my first pair.
That is a good point, they are much closer in size to the skyzone goggles, that might have a more relevant size comparison
Whats better the tinyhawk s or the freestyle
Dam your good in air mode in your house Nick & twas prob your most rough run Ive seen also. I just upgraded from cheap to mid range goggles, eachine vr005 then the Tobyrich goggles & now Aomway V1s. Huge differences, if you can afford better goggles buy better goggles people's 👌
good goggles are a wise investment, we can use the same radio and goggles across many quads. That run was a bit rough, I had to quickly train myself to focus as I was looking around the goggle screen rather than on where the quad was going.
Another great review thanks for sharing. What would you recommended for a second pair of goggles which I could also use on the bench when building?
I would see about getting the ev800d, they aren't sleek or small like the EW30s but they separate for bench use and have a slightly higher resolution. On the other hand last I recall they were selling for about $80.
Hello Nick,
Hope you are having a grand day!
I had one session with them on for 45+ minutes, not fully charged. I didn't test running them to flat from fully charged.
My tip to those who want to buy them and fly with friends at the same time: Bring a lot of beverage and snack, you'll need it 😆🍿🍻
Would the video breakup be better if different/better qaulity antennas are used?
It could but its not certain, antennas have a larger impact at greater range or where there is more obstacles and tougher video environment.
Another Great Review! These aren’t to bad... Awesome Flying too!! I have lots of Practicing to do 😄
strong range on the wall..??
I've been interested in looking into the fpv thing.
I'm glad I found this channel, sadly it took the giveaway to find but I'm still watching well after just a give away :)
Trying to learn and get better, and cant do it alone.
Obviously if you have to buy the controller put that toward a transmitter
nick nice review, might get a pair, i fly planes, got every thing but googles to fly fpv, runcam2, emachine monitor, rx and tx right and left antenna
Thank you
Great review. Awesome value, especially for beginners like my grandkids. 💖🤓
Hello, i don’t really know how goggles work. My drone has video feedback on my phone, can i somehow put that video on goggles?
I believe that is wifi, these goggles will not work with wifi video transmission.

@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks Nick I'll give that a shot.
Good product in this price range
I _always_ bring a little 7" monitor when I go out to fly, and boy! have I showed a lot of people the magic of FPV: kids, adults, elderly people, cops, friends, girlfriends, my mother, you name it!
Often, I avoid people just so I can fly in peace 😉
The main reason is still the cops though...
TL;DR: Always good to have a ride-along display!
P.s.: did the Skyzones crop a little more off the image, or did that happen in editing?
Likely editing, I have to prerender dvr footage to get it all to the same fps.
Might be good cheap goggles for a ridealong lol
I also mix antennas, I have circular polarized, the round mushroom looking antenna on my daily goggles which work fine with both linear and matched antenna.
how is the Lag on these? Im just getting into Freestyle and zooming around with my Mavic is not what i want.
I don't recall there being any noticeable lag. If I didn't mention it in the video I didn't notice it.
Thank you for the review.
Thank you!
Nice video, but can you connect it to a parrot bebop? And what is the most reasonable price for a racing drone (to build
these are 5.8ghz analog goggles, if the parrot bebop tx is the same then yes...I don't have the parrot products.
And have been putting it to hard use for the 2 weeks that I've owned it.

yes, I would chose the EW30 over the VRD2s.

@@NickBurnsFPV Have you heard anything about FXT goggles being updated/upgraded soon?

Thanks Nick!
Most people either use frsky or expresslrs protocol
it's possibile connect headphones? for the audio
yes, but the audio will largely be static if the vtx doesn't have a microphone. The audio you hear in my flight videos is not from the goggles or the dvr, I use a stationary camera and bring in the audio when I put the video together.
@@NickBurnsFPV thanks for the answer, I just bought a VXR with a microphone but it has yet to arrive, can I hear the audio in real time?

Do they fog up- summer outside?
That is a possibility, winter hear I can't answer the question directly.

I think for glasses either the hobbyking cyclops goggles for the fxt vipers are best. Unfortunately when we need to fit glasses inside they do make the goggles significantly bigger. Descent Googles😮
Last but not the least
