This is my real life, though. I am actually doing these things. I am simultaneously filming it, setting up the shots, storyboarding the concept, and editing the final video for you to watch as entertainment and because I have a passion for film and making them. I am picking in the garden, pulling weeds, feeding animals and cleaning up their waste, among various other tasks. No one said anything about it being perfect, and it certainly isn't.
Hi Kayla, I remember my mom canning a LOT ! Many years ago I did pickle some beets they were good and made beet jelly so yummy on warm bread! Your garden looks amazing, the worms are monsters haha, and your mom's makes the perfect labels for veggies you are canning. I love green beans. You added sugar, but no vinegar. Why? Many years ago, a local restaurant used to add pickled green beans, pickled cherry tomatoes, and pickled chilies, to big glass containers of vodka to macerate. They made excellent martinis, even for a gin martini diehard like me. The vegetable flavored vinegars gave the vodka a wonderful pop.

Does anyone know what that white powder on the cabbages is ? is it pesticide ? My friend is going with something called Spidermite residue 😂 obviously neither of us know anything about growing veg .
How do you protect yourself from insect bites? I went to the riverbank and got bitten by an insect on my face, which is now red and swollen and I'm in shock.
Haha!! Not this particular time, but I have tried feeding the chickens any of the insects that I've collected. They used to really like the Japanese beetles, but then got sick of them real quick LOL.
I try my best to stay as organic as possible. In years past, I have not used much of any pesticide. So far this year I have used Bt for cabbage worms and diatomaceous earth a few times to help with insects pests in the garden. Other than that, I just do manual control like hand-picking off insects and dumping them into a bucket of soapy water. I usually try my best to use preventative measures early on in the gardening season to prevent pest issues, like planting around the insect's life cycle or rotational planting. I'm so sorry you are having a rough go of it! Some years you can control/prevent it and other years it's just impossible. This year has been really bad for squash bugs/cucumber beetles for me. My zucchini are pretty much dead unfortunately!
What bothers me about cureated video's is it really makes you think this lifestyle is easy. It is not easy, it is not clean. So if you are growing and preserving keep up the good work. It does not look like this for most people.
That’s why it’s a fantasy. I am still growing and preserving and all of the other chores involved even if it doesn’t look like someone else’s version. It’s still work. You certainly don’t have to watch if it bothers you.

It’s been stated in my work over the last decade several times that I believe you should try making things in the way that’s best for you, from scratch or from the store or not at all. You originally said that my work bothers you, yet you also say you can “have it both ways.” There’s a bit of irony there.
