Your scrap blanket is really looking wonderful. Your progress on your yarn room looks very good. I’ve never made a temperature blanket so I’m no help there. Good luck with what you decide. 🧶💜🙏🏻
I was looking at my craft goals from 2024 & what I want for 2025. I'm sure I'm going to simplify my goals & reduce them. Yes, I've crocheted a temperature blanket for my grandson from his birth year of 2016. It was a much easier way to crochet it as I could crochet whenever I wanted to as I had a record of all of the temperatures from that year. I used the maximum temps & also crocheted it all in DK yarn in sc moss stitch to keep it shorter. I crocheted a black row between each month & it ended up the size of a single bed & enough to cover over the pillow too. I also added in a very thin metallic thread with the maximum temp for that day for birthdays of family members: gold for girls & silver for the males. It's a very special blanket that he loved receiving on his 8th birthday in January this year. I'll be interested to see what you choose to do. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Hi Terri, great progress on your craft room. I need to tidy up mine. I've never done a temperature blanket either but have been toying with the idea. I recently saw Jennifer on Fiber Flux show one she made and it's very interesting. I'm going to go back and look at it again since now that you mentioned it. She had a couple of variations on ideas. Have a great day
Great job on your craft room Terri. Never done a temperature blanket. I know the cross stitch people often do temperature projects though for the year. Good luck, it sounds good. Think I would be inclined to do tiny granny squares of one colour for each day, picking the highest temperature for that day. Then it would be quick to do each day & it wouldn’t be too large. It could be a bedspread or a lounge cover. Looking forward to see what you come up with. Cheers 😍👏🥰❤️🤗💕
Temperature blankets are fun to do. I have made one before and I knitted it. I did every day and it did end up huge, but I know people who have done the high and the low temperatures for the day and that would only be 104 rows. Much more doable and probably a good size. 💜💕💜
If I did a temperature blanket I would do a granny square style. I found one on Pinterest. You do 12 blocks one for each month and then a neutral to fill in. Each block has small squares for each day.
Hi, Terry. I've never done a temperature blanket either. For the same reasons that you stated one, I'm intimidated about picking out the colors and 2, 52 seems too small. 365 seems too big. Keep us posted, though I'll be interested in following along . Great job cleaning up your craft room you're inspiring me. I need to do more organizing around here. I've lived in this house for 9 years. We're finally finishing our basement, which is probably a good thing. But unfortunately, it means all of my stuff from the basement is either in storage or crammed upstairs in odd places . I don't even call my yarn stash a yarn stash anymore. I call it yarn mountain because it's in boxes stacked way over my head that I have to climb on a stool to get to. I love my yarn mountain though and now I even tell my sister that I have alpacca peak on yarn mountain because I have an entire huge box just full of alpaca and alpaca blends. But I am feeling like I need to do more organization with yarn mountain. Maybe soon. See you tomorrow.
The second temperature project I did was a Temperature Snake which I did for my youngest son. I used his favorite color to make the head and tail. For the body, I pulled colors from his favorite Sports Teams and assigned each one to a 5 degree range. I was only counting the days of his Senior year of High School which was 180 days. Since the snake should be long, I did the high and low for each day, I used the head color to separate each week and used a white sparkle yarn between the high and low on special days like his birthday, academic awards day, the first and last day of each sports season, homecoming and prom. I gave it to him at his graduation party. He loves it and uses it to prop up his arms or head when he plays video games.
Hi Terri! I haven’t made a temperature blanket. Reasons you stated and more. I was thinking if you did you could do a granny square for each month. Regular granny would be different color each week. Or do a solid granny for each month.
The first temperature project I did was a blanket. It marked the year of my oldest son’s engagement. I chose hues of their favorite colors and assigned them in 5 degree ranges. I did 7 round squares and each round represented a day and I selected the temperature it was each day at the time it was when he popped the question. That gave me 52 squares. To make it a good shape and size for them to use together sitting on the couch, I made 2 extra squares- one with her favorite colors and one with his. That allowed me to do 7 squares by 8 squares. I bordered and joined with a gray that matched their couch . I used 4 weight yarn and a 5.5 hook.
The only temperature blankets I have done are "historical" ones where I was able to look at the temperatures for previous years. I did mine as a granny stripe blanket, but each row is 2 days (with the starting and ending day being whole rows). I've also seen where people make 3 panels, then sew them together. It could be cool to do 4 c2c squares and combine those. Check out TL yarn crafts, she has done a lot of temperature blankets and they all look great!
I have looked at temperature blankets for years! I think I started one once and scrapped it. I saw the one in the Winter 2024 Crochet World magazine. Check it out! It looks manageable and I have my yarn ready to go.
Hi Terri! I like how your blanket is coming along. Great job on the yarn room reset. Hugs and love. 😘🤗❤️

They are fun to make. You can do the average temperature per week, or you can make small granny squares for each day.

I've never tried a temperature blanket. Could be fun! Love your blanket, and you did a great job organizing!

Your room looking good. Mine needs fixed as well. I would be interested in doing a blanket.

Good work on your craft room. I need to do my craft room too
❤❤😊😊love Carol xxxx
Terry, I have seen people do one c2c per month, with 12 squares for the entire blanket. That turns out a more reasonable size?
Good Evening ¡
Hi Terri, I'm trying to get you on Facebook. 🤔
