"Apparently it's developmentally appropriate to take 30 minutes naps!" - I felt that in my BONES, I said the exact same thing (with the exact same tone 😂) when my son was that age! I'm always reminding myself of what's developmentally appropriate so that I have realistic expectations for him and myself.

    • @AmandaStapley
      @AmandaStapley 11 місяців тому +2

This is practically the catch phrase with anything we would ask the pediatrician about. So much so that when we get wondering we just say to each other we bet it's developmentally appropriate, lol.

3 months into “3 under 2” ( super busy toddler and newborn twins). Struggling is an understatement! In a workd filled with “influencers” with their perfect makeup and home- really needed honest content like this of “you can love this phase and and it can suck at the same time!”
Thank u for keeping it real ❤

I feel you on the 30 minute nap issue! My girl only took 30 minute naps, no matter what I did. It did turn a corner at 6 months, and now at 8 months she’s taking 2, 1.5 hour naps. There is hope lol

I love how HONEST you are. Man, the newborn phase is not fun and I feel like it’s taboo to talk about, at least with the women I’m surrounded by. So thanks for being real. I did not enjoy that phase as much as I would’ve liked (also had postpartum anxiety) and it’s nice to hear someone else acknowledge those challenges.

My son did the 30 minute naps too! Soooo hard to deal with. I'm glad you survived! We're trying for our second now, and I'm sure all of your upcoming videos will help as we (hopefully) enter the next chapter. Your family is beautiful, and I really appreciate how you keep it real without sugarcoating. It's so validating. "He's starting to suck a little bit less," LOL I felt that.

Oh I know. I watched a million UA-cam videos on baby sleeping/naps telling me if I just did one thing it would change my daughter's sleep habits...I would follow religiously and she would wake up at the 19 minute mark. She would cry, and I would cry...lol. After six months of 19 minutes naps and 4-5 wakes at night, my brain broke. Dont miss those days, so glad to be on the other side of that. Good Luck!

My sleep consultant was always like aim for 1hr15 min naps! But our kid naps like 40-45 minutes everytime. Life was so much less stressful when I just accepted that some babies are just short nappers and to follow sleep cues rather than metrics..

As a mom of two under two (although on the other side with a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old) - you guys are awesome! I remember when my youngest was around 6 months and you finally start feeling like life doesn't suck anymore. It's getting a bit rough again as the toddler is becoming a threenager and both of them have separation anxiety so - woohoo. But I'm glad you guys found your stride as a family!
As a pediatric nurse - thanks for all you guys do, both from the OB and the cards front! I specialize in care coordination between MFM and medical specialities needing transfers into our children's hospital so I love all the BPD/pulm HTN and complex babies you care for! Go team!

I had my second baby 4 months ago and I followed your pregnancy journey religiously. I completely relate to your challenges, and recognize how hard parenting 2 kids is. My little one takes 5-7 naps a day - all 30-40 mins long. His awake windows are barely 30 mins. You both are doing a wonderful job raising both kids. Hang in there and can’t wait to hear your experience on sleep training

Bless you guys for honesty!! I love my 9 month old daughter with all my heart but I'll be honest, it wasn't until 6 months old that I actually starting enjoying her and embracing my role as a mom. It's helpful to hear that others struggle too and it's still worth it! I would love to have a big family but after realizing how rough the newborn stage can be, it's one at a time over here. XD

Overseas fan here. Really glad you'll be coming back soon, and I'm sorry to hear your past few months have been such a struggle. Please know that you have been an essential resource for me in preparing for my birth and baby. She's here now and during the day, she's also only napping 20-40 minutes at a time at three months old. I did read that it takes babies a few months to consolidate their sleep cycle, but it's very reassuring to hear you struggling with the same issue, since none of my mom friends have a baby with similar sleep patterns. I hope it keeps getting more fun and easier for you, and I'm really looking forward to your new content.

"he is starting to suck a little bit less" 😂 I LOVE THAT. Mom shame is a real thing, and people think you're supposed to love all the parts of parenthood, which is honestly not true at all. I know this is a little older now but I fell you guys on the naps and the tongue tie. My daughter (now 14 mos) had awful tongue and lip tue with so many feeding issues, it was so traumatizing and still difficult to think about. My girl has always been a great sleeper and napper AT HoME but she goes to day care and has serious FOMO while there and has been a horrible napper there. So we would get an angry cranky baby. Her teachers would tell us how wonderful she was and I went through a period of serious sadness and guilt for having to leave her at day care and not being able to get to know this happy, amazing girl! That sucked. Thankfully we were on vacation last month and had a whole week of a very good routine and had her well rested and we got to see what they were talking about. Because we jad gotten her on a great schedule for that week, she also started sleeping better at fay care. Although the FOMO still rears its head at times.

Same boat except just one 5 months old baby.... taking the developmentally appropriate 30 min naps... unless we swing him and extend his naps...he does sleep really well at night though...and sleep training went really easy for us....nap training still seems like a distant dream ... otherwise he's an adorable baby... smiling... making tons of sounds... rolling over at 4 months...and trying to crawl now... overall he's a happy baby... it's rewarding now that he's interacting so much...but ohh boy we struggled in the newborn phase...

    Ah, i love this update!
Our boys are 20mo apart (2 1/2 and 8mo currently) & just like Bo, our second was TOUGH 😅 love that kid, but man, the first six months tested us. Once he could crawl things got much better. Hang in there!! Y’all are awesome parents and doing such a good job ❤️

I’m so glad you guys put this video out. We’re wanting to add a 2nd child to our family.. and with the first, already a challenge. But I’m so glad to see this and some of the struggle so we can be a little prepared with one toddler and a baby… I hope you guys do some videos of the transition and your experiences with how Cece interacts with her brother, good AND bad lol. Thank you so much for your videos!! They really have helped me through the first one and I’m sure the next one, God willing. Love you guys!

I had two under two (they are 20 months apart)… first months are hard but now my son is 1 and my daughter is 2 and 9 months… life is easier… kid’s starting actually playing together and they both become pretty independent and dependent 😅. I hope you guys enjoy they grow so fast but days sometimes feels incredibly long. Sending hugs with my two really sometimes needy and always loves toddlers.

Our little one just turned 4 months old. We have four children five and under. It does get easier as the children get older, it is a blast! As they get older the children start helping with the younger children which is so much fun. Our oldest is five then we have a 4-year-old, one that just turned three and are 4 month old. Our 4-month-old is sleeping through the night, rolling over from tummy to back. Smiling all the time and babbling a lot! Children are so worth it they are so much fun! And I promise it does get easier!!!

My son also did only 35-40 min naps until he was about 5 months old. Now he’s 17 months and will take the occasional glorious 3 hour nap 🙌. Thank you for your honesty about how hard it is. So many of us relate. I had PPD and haven’t had a good nights sleep since I was pregnant. We are doing our best and it’s enough!

Not that I didn’t expect it, but I love the honesty here. I have a 1 YT old and 7 weeks pregnant w/ my second child, so scared is an understatement lol. Watching videos like this where people are honest about experiences w/ their babies are so encouraging.

Thats why it’s so important to share vulnerabilities because we are all human and these struggles are all things that many of us have gone through so thank you for sharing! I’m frankly tired of the highlight reels, people showing only the best photos on social media, we need to be more real.

I appreciate your candid honest feedback. I’m 3 months away from having two under two and I’ll remember it gets less sucky after 5 months! Thank you both and keep on keeping on. I look forward to you shooting out that inspo! 🫶🏼
