The reason it melted like it did is mainly due to the fact it some properties of salt but also has a sugar-like chemical composition. Monosodium glutamate is like a natural fat. The chemical composition for MSG is C5H8NO4Na. Found in somefoods like tomatoes and cheese naturally.
There was a huge anti msg campaign in the US a while ago saying it was addictive/toxic/etc that led to a lot of myths surviving about it even to today.
It's a food seasoning that was originally derived from a type of seaweed, over 100 years ago. A Japanese chemist named Kikunae Ikeda was the guy who first extracted it and discovered its flavor in 1908. These days MSG is made from things like sugar beets, sugar cane, or molasses (from sugar cane or beets) via a bacterial fermentation process. Circa 1962-1973 a direct chemical synthesis process was used. Before that, MSG was hydrolyzed from vegetable proteins using hydrochloric acid. The preferred feedstock for hydrolysis was wheat gluten because 30 grams per 100 of it is glutamate and glutamine. The end result of all the processes is exactly the same chemical compound. It's a natural compound in tomatoes and many cheeses and various other edible things. Adding more just makes the flavor stronger.
the myths surrounding it still exist, but I've eaten a lot of it, and sometimes eaten waaay too much at the one time, and I was fine, apart from having an odd taste in my mouth for a few minutes

I'm one of those who does have a potential sensitivity to it. I get very bad headaches every time I eat restaurant chinese food, and many people have suggested its the MSG. Can't guarantee if that's the cause or not, but there's definitely Something going on cos I really feel extremely unwell afterwards every time. I probably have an allergy of some sort, I know it's not universal. But it is a real problem.
Do u hydrate enough while eating the Chinese food? I only ask cause of all the salt, so maybe it's dehydrating u instead of a reaction to the msg. Just an idea.

there is no msg sensitivity according to science and i choose to believe them more than peoples opinion. people believe in all sorts of nonsense like electro smog. smh.
tell that to my friend who gets paralysis at restaurants after eating it (unknowingly, like a blind trial). stfu if you think unproven science is more accurate than a plethora of anecdotal reports.
Clint experts and science understand more than you do, and have put more time into studying and more thought into these things than some random person. the anecdotes are probably due to other causes and not proven with actual science. if it is proven with science then yeah, it’s valid but you can’t have random people making claims and believe it. your mindset is what leads to believing talk show hosts and conspiracy theories. final message: if it’s proven in an experiment by sensible, smart, unbiased people then it’s true.
@@clint9648 r u sure they r getting paralysis from the mag or could it be another ingredient in whatever food they r consuming
I can't believe I'm one of the first to comment 🔥
Have you tried melting ice? I heard that it turns into a liquid that is called “water” or something, not sure though. A video on that would be cool.
