The next thing I see is a 300+ pound black bear easily the size of the one in this video being chased across the street by a dog the size of a beagle yapping at its heels. The bear dove into some brush and the little dog circled back and went back to his front yard.
I just moved to Alaska from Florida. I am going to show this to my two grown boys. They think I am being ridiculous when I tell them to watch out for bear or moose before they leave the house and walk out to their car.
The bear looked totally gobsmacked to see humans emerging from a hole in the ground like a couple of groundhogs. That's probably one of the freakiest things it's ever seen. 😄
When I was in middle school in northern Wisconsin (forested area), my dad got irritated seeing that I had "pranked" him by moving the grill way out on the pathway toward the pier, away from the cabin. He walked out to get the grill, and when he looked back up again a little way from it, the "grill" turned its head and saw him. They scared the **** out of each other and ran opposite directions 😂
Last fall I was out picking black berries and, when walking back to the house with two filled homer buckets of goodies, I came around a bend and was face to face with a big guy like this one. Usually they run off well before I see them, but I must have been up wind from him this time. He was also picking berries... and for a second we both kinda looked at each other like "Oh sh$t...". Then the big guy looks at my buckets, sniffs the air a bit and licks his chops. So I calmly said "I don't think so bud. Pick your own berries!" Sound of my voice startled him and ran off. For as big as they are, they sure can run fast. I am pretty convinced that Black bears are big goofballs who just want food. If you don't poke them and don't leave food laying around you'll likely never see them.
So funny. I had almost the same thing happen near Dolly Kopp campground in New Hampshire, except the bear decided to stay and pick blackberries on his side of the bushes, and I picked berries on my side of the bushes. Every once in a while our eyes would meet and this cold jolt of fear would hit my heart. lol
Beautiful and majestic. Gorgeous stout animals. I see them regularly in my neighborhood. Everyone needs to respect wildlife, including bears, but a single black bear without cubs just out looking for food is not going to hunt you down and go for the guts. They are not dominantly aggressive - meaning they don't seek us out just to kill us. We need to remember that we took their land and put up houses and buildings. We are the uninvited guests, and they're just trying to coexist. They do much better at that than most humans would.
I thought the same, at first. The fisheye lens fooled us. Pause it when the bear is down just past the cellar and compare his size to the man that was at the top of the steps. You have to slide the progress bar back & forth. The bear is probably around 400 - give or take....
@Damian the bear relocated your friend who saw it?! Damn!! Clever bear! 😜 I guess he didn’t want anyone to know he was around and wasn’t taking chances! 😉
B E A U T I F U L 🐻 B E A R !! I'm glad they didn't notice otherwise they would've freaked out then that would've made the bear probably react differently and in turn make a terrible situation for EVERYONE! I don't think I could live near bear country!
I had a friend who had a big tame black bear, he was chained up in his front yard and the bear learned to lay across the sidewalk so the mailman had to step over him every day. The mailman had treats for him. Smart bear.
People in this house need security cameras, so they can check first what wild animals are lurking around in the yard. Would hate to walk around a corner and run into that great big bear.🐻🍝
Why? It's better and more peaceful if you don't know about the "wild" animals. Please don't go looking around for "wild" animals. You might get one of them killed. Watch the video again those folks DIDN'T see the bear and everything was just fine.
I run into bears all the time because I live in a national forest near a bear trail. I carry bear mace like some people carry bug repellant. Surprised too many times. Bears are so quiet.
Oh wow how cool is that! So glad the bear was not killed or injured, or the people too. That's quite the treat in my opinion, beautiful bear! Big bear too!
I've been startling close to a black bear before, and I smelled it before I heard it and I heard it before I saw it. How focused were they to not pick up even from their lizard brain that a large animal was coming closer 👀
Did exactly that with a buck whitetail deer one quiet morning..... walked around the car and almost bumped into him = we both jumped and ran at the same time.

Every once in a while our eyes would meet and this cold jolt of fear would hit my heart. lol
That bear was super adorable. You can tell he didn’t want any problems. ♥️🐻
A clear example of not being aware of your surroundings... man that's scary. Thank God they're ok.
Doesn’t seem like that bear has missed any dinner bells, he probably just wants to try out their toilet to see if it really is better than the woods.
Everyone: He's so intelligent !

My God!
That has GOT to be an 800 lb bear!......It's a friggen MONSTER!
Avon NC, NY or Col?
I thought the same, at first.
The fisheye lens fooled us. Pause it when the bear is down just past the cellar and compare his size to the man that was at the top of the steps. You have to slide the progress bar back & forth. The bear is probably around 400 - give or take....
Its a black bear, they don't get anywhere near that big, its probably around 350 though, and a male.
@@coryboy345 in PA they kill 800 lb plus ones every year
@Damian the bear relocated your friend who saw it?! Damn!! Clever bear! 😜 I guess he didn’t want anyone to know he was around and wasn’t taking chances! 😉
@Damian hehe. The image it brought to mind just made me smile! Sorry! 😜
He was waiting to swipe the pic-a-nic basket when the humans weren’t looking. 🐻🥡🍽
Dude was just trying to take a shortcut!
This footage is great!
That is a big bear for a black bear! Hes about the size of a grizzly!
That bear seems pretty non confrontational by how nervous it was.
Connecticut. Beautiful healthy bear. 26 states have towns with the name Avon.
So you wondered too !!! It looks like our area / and HE IS HUGE !
I love how he backed up a little and waited for them to leave. Such a smart bear.
Yeah, but he stepped back several steps when he saw them. That shows they’re afraid of us as well. 😍💖
B E A U T I F U L 🐻 B E A R !!
I'm glad they didn't notice otherwise they would've freaked out then that would've made the bear probably react differently and in turn make a terrible situation for EVERYONE! I don't think I could live near bear country!
If the people don't FREAK out seeing the bear it probably won't react differently.
aww so cute lol wish I can pet a bear haha🧸
I had a friend who had a big tame black bear, he was chained up in his front yard and the bear learned to lay across the sidewalk so the mailman had to step over him every day. The mailman had treats for him. Smart bear.
The bear even takes a step back when he sees the people like he was thinking “ oh no if they spot me I’d better get out of here quickly “
The bear looked very nervous at the prospect of being seen by two humans, but he managed himself very well until the all-clear.
Wowzerrez! You took the words right out of my mouth Johnny 😳😂
That knew if he startled those folks he might have a problem. He ain't get that big and pretty by being reckless
Very smart bear to pause till humans walk away.
Thank goodness he did not see the basement as a possible den they would have had a real rude awakening when they went back down stairs
Just moving along.
After seeing this video, these guys will be looking over their shoulders whenever they come out of the cellar for rest of their lives LOL.
Cute bear..so adorable when he backs up a little bit.
See, bears are much nicer than people!
that black bear is HUGE !!! 500 lbs easy !!!
They're mellow. No biggy.
Bear: “OH NO! Humans! Ok remember.. They’re just as afraid of you as you are of them.. Maybe if I stay quiet and keep still they’ll move on.”
Is that Tanjiro? The bear knew his place.
Looks like that big fella has no trouble finding food!!
Wow, he’s a big boy 😅😅❤️
"Will you guys go away...I have to go to the bathroom over in the woods, and I can't hold it much longer."
Awww what a good bear. Beautiful!!!!
People in this house need security cameras, so they can check first what wild animals are lurking around in the yard. Would hate to walk around a corner and run into that great big bear.🐻🍝
Susan Beckett, how did they film this incident I wonder?
@@majesticworld255 Yeah hey, didnt think of that, good observation. Thanking you for brings that to my attention.
Why? It's better and more peaceful if you don't know about the "wild" animals. Please don't go looking around for "wild" animals. You might get one of them killed. Watch the video again those folks DIDN'T see the bear and everything was just fine.
It was filmed from the neighbors second floor window it seems.
I run into bears all the time because I live in a national forest near a bear trail. I carry bear mace like some people carry bug repellant. Surprised too many times. Bears are so quiet.
It's probably good they didn't see the bear cause if they did. They would of panic and cause the bear to smell fear, and attack.
Bears don't attack because they smell fear. If they feel intruded upon or cornered maybe.
Oh wow how cool is that! So glad the bear was not killed or injured, or the people too. That's quite the treat in my opinion, beautiful bear! Big bear too!
I love their pigeon-toed hind feet🤣. So adorable🥰.
Hank,Whaddaya do today ?
Was almost lunch!
That is one big, beautiful bear! And he acted more kindly than humans would in the reverse situation.
I've been startling close to a black bear before, and I smelled it before I heard it and I heard it before I saw it. How focused were they to not pick up even from their lizard brain that a large animal was coming closer 👀
Did exactly that with a buck whitetail deer one quiet morning..... walked around
the car and almost bumped into him = we both jumped and ran at the same time.
“ So you live underground too? You guys are everywhere.”
